1977 was the year in baseball (I was 11) that would seal the deal for me as far as being helplessly in love and dedicated to the game of baseball. The entire season was a good "story book" that got better each and every day, with the playoffs and eventually a World Series that capped off one of the greatest seasons (IMO) that was ever played.
It certainly was for me. This was the first time I saw the Yankees win a World Series and I will never forget that thrill.
It was the first (and maybe the last) time that I can remember that each and every player from both teams (N.Y. and L.A.) would become powerful household names during the season, and especially the playoffs. The tension was immense, the atmosphere revolving around both teams, and especially Billy Martin, George Steinbrenner, and Reggie Jackson have not been duplicated since. Each and every time I might get lucky enough to see a program, or maybe a documentary about this particular season, I watch it and and just let all the memories come rushing back.
I feel the same way. It was no easy road for the Yankees that year as they had to battle themselves, the Orioles, the Red Sox and a good Kansas City team to get to the series and the Dodgers had to get by a very talented Phillies team. What a great year.
I'm going to have to re install MVP again. Without question.
What??? I thought everyone had this installed.
By the way, where have you been? I hope you have been doing well. Enjoy this mod. Jim and Dennis did a great job. I played a game late last night and it's all that you would expect it to be!
