About This File

Here is the 1971 San Francisco Giants road uniform set. You will notice by the enclosed pics, that the fonts varied. I used the Rawlings font I believe. The uniforms were originally made by Wilson, Spalding, and Rawlings so there was quite a mix on the field at times. The Giants did not receive their road knits until 1973 when they change the number font yet again and inverted the colors on "Giants" and "San Francisco".

Just a bit of trivia, you can see some of the real-life Giants players on the episode "The Tormentor" from the 2nd Season of "Ironside". The show was to be representing San Francisco and the show was out in the late 60's to mid-70's. Robert Ironside "Raymond Burr" was a huge Giants and 49ers fan. Gary Collins played a Giants outfielder that was being extorted by another "would-be" Giants player who missed coming to the majors. It's worth the price of the season set to see Willie Mays and Willie McCovey in the background during clubhouse scenes and seeing the actual clips of real play with Bonds, Mays, McCovey and Dietz.
