Just a quick update ...

Will be continuing some more testing over the next few days with created players. Mexico and Australia logos are completed. Will work on a few portraits as well. Cabrera, Garcia and Campos all have audio IDs so the portraits will be assigned accordingly.

OK, here's what I'm looking at so far for Venezuela, Mexico and Australia in the beta 2 release.

Venezuela

SP: Santana, C. Zambrano, F. Garcia, C. Silva, Felix Hernandez

RP: V. Zambrano, G. Chacin, Juan Rincon, Kelvim Escobar, J. Julio, U. Urbina, K-Rod

C: V. Martinez, Ramon Hernandez

IF: Alex Cabrera, E. Alfonzo, Melvin Mora, Vizquel, C. Izturis, C. Guillen

OF: Abreu, Ordonez, Miguel Cabrera, Juan Rivera, R. Hidalgo

On the bubble: Alex Ramirez, Miguel Cairo, Tomas Perez

Mexico

SP: Perez, Loaiza, Dessens, Campos, R. Lopez

RP: Valdez, de la Rosa, D. Reyes, Villarreal, R. Rincon, L. Ayala

C: Ojeda, Cota

IF: Guillermo Velasquez, Durazo, Cantu, Castilla, O. Robles, Javier Robles, Amezaga, Juan Castro

OF: Mario Valenzuela, Luis Garcia, Karim Garcia, Matias Carrillo

Bubble: Geronimo Gil, Edgar Gonzalez, Antonio Osuna, Rigo Beltran

Australia

Thanks wedss for the good list. All have either high minor league experience or better or have played on the olympic or world cup teams. 17 are in UR and I found Oeltjen and Roneberg in a few 2004 files on a backup disc.

Players to create: Anderson, Kingman, Van Buizen, Utting, Fingelson, D'Antonio

Need opinions on the status of a few other player possibilities.

Will veterans like Dave Nilsson ©, Jeff Williams (P), Luke Prokopec (P), or Brad Thomas (P) be available in March?

Also, found 2004 Olympian Richard Thompson (P) and 05 World Cup player Andrew Graham © in Class A ball though neither are in UR. Scott Mitchinson (Clearwater in UR) is also Australian.

Graham and Mitchinson don't have audio ingame, rest do.

Suggestions? Additions? Adjustments?

Haven't forgotten about the rest of the nations. Doing a few at a time so I don't end up with 10 half completed teams that aren't playable.

Thanks for the posts about Taiwan. Any ideas on who might be in the final roster of 30?

Nilsson retired, but you can never count him out. Williams is currently playing for the Hanshin Tigers, so you can put him in for Bevis. Either he or Balforu will be the closer the other will be the set-up man. Williams was the close during the olympics, but Balfour was playing for the Twins at the time. You can get a profile pic off the website, http://www.hanshintigers.jp/team/profile/54.html Prokopec would be on the extended rosters, but since you can only have 25 he makes way for the younger RP's and Thomas proabably won't be with the team becasue of the better class of starters.

Anderson, van Buizen and Utting are playing in Japan industrial leagues. I might be able to help you out with their attributes.

it's still too early to tell, i suspect the official 30 men roaster won't come out untill couple weeks, after the CPBL champion team came back from the Konami Cup Asian Series.

The following players i think got a fairly good chance made it to the 30 men roaster: (i'll update the stats later)

First off, here's a preview of the Mexico and Australia logos ...

8screen4dd.th.jpg

Testing is proceding well. Mexico is just about ready. I found a decent scouting report on Campos and I've been pretty happy with the ratings of players based on the Mexican league stats compared with the MLB players on the team.

HFLR, sonickim, or any other fans of Mexican baseball - are you happy with the roster as posted above? Do I need to make any other adjustments? I looked at Arredondo. I like his speed and the fact that he's an outfielder and can cover some ground in CF. He'd be good as a pinch runner or defensive replacement, though his .300 Mexican League average doesn't quite get him to the numbers of Carrillo, Valenzuela, or Luis Garcia. So I think it comes down to: is he as a 5th OF / pinch runner more valuable than one of the utility infielders (Amezaga, Oscar Robles, Juan Castro) or perhaps Dennys Reyes in the pen ?

Been testing Craig Anderson and Jeff Williams. I found a 2004 Mariners report on Anderson and some older articles on Williams. Kept Bevis on the roster for now as an 11th pitcher since there's room as only 10 position players are in place so far. Any help with ratings on Kingman, Van Buizen, Utting, Fingelson, or D'Antonio would be great.

Portrait Update

A few people have asked about helping with portraits. I'd be grateful for any help. It'd be one less thing for me while I finish tweaking Mexico and adding Australians to the roster. Might want to keep people aware of what you decide to work on here in the thread so we don't end up with 6 portraits of the same player.

If any of these are in Total Portraits, please let me know and I'll take them off the list. I've included any audio numbers from Tony3's list to use as the portrait number if they exist. Also, anyone have any ideas where would be the best place to start numbering portraits for players not in the system already? I thought I saw some total portraits in the low 9000s. Would 9501 be a safe spot to start?

Venezuela

1016 Alex Cabrera

0722 Alex Ramirez

Mexico

1584 Campos

1681 Luis C. Garcia

2051 Mario Valenzuela

2425 Oscar Robles

Velasquez

J. Robles

Carrillo

Luis Arredondo

Australia

Craig Anderson

3161 Stockman

1014 Burnside

1548 Bevis

2888 Hughes

0954 Jeff Williams

3035 Oeltjen

6760 Glenn Williams

6305 Brice

2374 Morrissey

2427 Roneberg

8706 Risinger

0633 Dave Nilsson

Once Mexico and Australia are done, I'm looking at Japan next and some preliminary work on Korea and Taiwan. For Japan, we'll need to form a roster list and get info on what each pitcher throws, at what speed and how it moves. I'll mainly need defensive info and anything that isn't easy to figure based on just statistics for the hitters.

why exactly is usa at #1? what is this a joke roster? there are at least 3 central/south american teams that are way better than america. come on, almost every quality player is dominican.

Well, first off, no that's not true. The team that will give the US the most competition is the Dominican Republic, but the American pitching staff utterly destroys the DR's. I mean, the US could field an excellent 39-and-over staff. When you have Dontrelle Willis, Roger Clemens, Chris Carpenter, Jake Peavy, Ben Sheets, Roy Halladay, Brad Lidge, AJ Burnett, Josh Beckett, John Smoltz, Tim Hudson, Barry Zito, Mark Mulder, etc etc there's a good reason to believe you'll have a good team. The DR's roster, of course, is ridiculously excellent, so it should be a fascinating series. I'm really looking forward to it.

We obviously agree on the same 30 and I like the choices for the primary 25. The only player on the bubble I'd have any reservations leaving off would be Velasquez who I'd maybe keep over Osuna or Reyes, who have barely been used in the simulations so far with the deep Mexican starting rotation. Shouldn't be an issue anyway...

I will be looking this weekend at what I can do with the free agent slots. I'd like to make sure players 26-30 for any team are in the roster and could be swapped in based on personal preferences. That should take anywhere from 80-100 spaces once all the teams are in. With the rest I hope to put back in some of the Class A players I've been replacing, though it'd only be 5-6 per organization. I don't suppose there's any workaround the 255 player limit in the free agents?

Thanks for posting the portraits, HFLR and wedss.

You can get a good idea of the players that will make up the rosters from the teams that played in the 2005 Serie del Caribe (Caribbean World Series) made up of Mexico, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. You can see some sights and sound here:

Serie del Caribe

For the uniform makers, I'll post photos with some of the team uniforms next.

I think Oscar Robles is better at SS than amezaga, and I dont consider Arredondo as starter, is better carrillo at RF, l.garcia at CF and k.garcia at LF.

I've already did portraits for garcia, campos and valenzuela and I'm working on the others.

Mexico won the 2005 series by the way:

5caribe42jv.jpg

Just wanna say that the "C" in the helmet is there because the team that won in Mexico the "Liga del Pacifico" were the Tomateros de Culiacan and the C is the initial of Culiacan, we should put the Mexico flag there instead of the C of Culiacan.
