Micro-Dynasty: The 1927 World Series

It’s World Series time 83 years ago and I thought I would take a stab at putting together a small sample of a mini-dynasty pitting the New York Yankees and the Pittsburgh Pirates squaring off in the 1927 World Series. Considered one of the greatest teams in history, the New York Yankees and their 110 wins; ran away with the American League Pennant, finishing 19 games ahead of the 2nd place Athletics. The Pittsburgh Pirates on the other hand, although they had 94 wins; squeaked by the Cardinals at 1 ½ games ahead. The Yankees “Murderer’s Row” faced off against the Pirates’ strong lineup of fearsome players named “Kiki” and “Pie” in Forbes Field for Games 1 & 2.

Just like the modern era; the World Series of the roaring 20s also seems to have attracted great crowds and celebrities. Looks like the Pirates also had a Clara Bow look-a-like promotion at the game too…or maybe all gals just looked like Clara Bow in the twenties. Hopefully this promotion goes better than the riot that ensued earlier in the season at Comiskey Park and the infamous “Ragtime Jazz Demolition Night” back in August. Boy, the Yankees were rock stars even back in ’27; groupies everywhere….

It seems some photographers from MLB hopped in their time machine to film this historic game at Forbes Field. They plan to present this “presumed lost” footage back to the fans in 2010 and plan to release a DVD of the game by Christmas at the affordable price of $149 for Standard DVD and $180 for the Blu-Ray version. Here’s a quick tip to our time-travelling photographers: you might not want to openly use your Canon EF telephoto lenses if you’re trying to blend in with an early 20th Century baseball game. Just sayin’.

Lol! I know huh Joe? Yeah, unfortunately the box score extractor will only pull out the season numbers if you're playing basically an "exhibition" series like I am here. I've been greatly interested in these Dynasties (especially your awesome work) lately and I'm testing the waters before I commit to a season-long one. I would really like to commit to a 1974 Yankees Dynasty very soon here. :good:

Ruth hitting a staggering .353 and Gherig at .375.  :clapping:

Sounds great dj, it's been a while since there's been a steady flow of dynasties, I'm up for following one as we go into the off-season.  :good:
