Mvp 14 Support Thread

Oh, I got an .iso of it and installed it that way so I wouldn't need the disk.

Like the other posts stated, the Models.big file may be the culprit in your issue and what type of rig you are using. The weird thing is that in my case, my toshiba laptop with Win 7 64-bit can play the MVP14 mod with no issues. Even with the default Models.big file at 819mb. But when i try to play the mod on my Dell Desktop Win 7 64-bit, the bar will bar will go half way and the game will crash to the desktop. Now when i did some modifications to the Models.big file and reduced it to approx 660mb, the game is working flawless on my Dell Desktop now. Also if you look at other mods, the Models.big file is not that big. I believe in MVP08, the Models.big is about 572mb which is the biggest i've seen prior to MVP 12. MVP 12; MVP 13; and MVP 14 Models.big file are in the 700mb plus range. For some odd reason, my Dell Desktop can't handle it and the game will crash to the desktop. Once i did some deletions in the Models.big and broke it down to about 660mb, the game is running with no issues. IMO it all depends on what type of rig that you are running and if it can handle the size of the Models.big file. Also break the Models.big file down to about 660mb and see what happens. Great Mod!!! Keep up the good work.

Thx Y4L, what about jerseys, faces and portraits? Do those have to be installed individually or are they included with the roster? Thx again for the help.

If you read through Dennis' comprehensive description, you'd find that the jerseys especially were worked on. Faces are part of Homer's pack, but there may be some in there not to your preference (e.g., couple of Royals players I changed out).

As far as rosters and pitchers like Greene, first off the rosters have been MLB focused all year. Then the last roster was related to amount of service a player gave the team throughout the year, regardless of having a season ending injury or not (e.g., that's why Sabathia IS on the NYY starting rotation). At the time these rosters were made, Greene was not a top 6 starting pitcher. In the course of deciding who to keep and who to ignore, some guys are just the odd man out.

For a while I was doing a thread supplementing some players, but there didn't seem to be a lot of interest, so I didn't waste my time with it.

Thank you for your thorough testing mjeff35. I made sure to try my final build of MVP 14 on 3 different PCs of different classes (2 year-old laptop, older desktop with XP, and my gaming/graphics rig desktop). Thanks to Homer's theory last week about the size of the Models.BIG file...I experimented with a simple fix using the BIGGUI tool: '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>

By simply opening your Models.BIG with BIGGUI, clicking File and then clicking Rebuild...after a a few seconds, the program re-organizes the Hex Addresses of all the components...more importantly it brings the Models.BIG file down from 819mb to around 760 mb. I have had ZERO crashes since doing this on all of my installs of MVP 14. I would highly recommend anyone having crash issues to give this solution a try. It's quick and easy.

Here's one for thought... Fresh install, copy file to EA program folder. My copy comes up with an updated stadium select screens. Save a copy to desktop folder, same as factory install. If I move it to EA folder it gets stadium screens installed. Work-around is run from desktop. No problems running. Just puzzling why I'm getting a modded copy.

Maybe this is the issue I'm having. Just like he says, the game loads and the bar gets halfway full then it crashes to desktop. I haven't played a game yet since I re-installed it. Models .big file might be the culprit, but how do you reduce the size of it?

I don't know. I eliminated everything pertaining to mvp from my computer. Installed brand new copy with new program folder this morning. Copied it in program folder and it had modded screens. Copied it to desktop folder and it was clean.

It's impossible for a computer to show something that just isn't there. It has to be reading the mod from somewhere. Look in both the Program Files and Program Files (x86) major sub-folders.

Hello everyone. I'm in the same boat with the freezing during simulation. Playing with the Mets, I've played every (Mets/MLB) game up until now with no problems. I'm up to April 22, 2005, and I hit "Play Today's Game", I've got the 3 minor league games above mine, TYPICALLY, I'd "Quick Sim" all 3 to get to the game I actually want to play (the MLB game), but the first game gets simmed (as normal), and then when the second game is supposed to be simmed, it freezes (doesn't crash to the desktop, but I have to CTRL+ALT+DEL & close using Task Manager). I have also tried clicking "Play/Manage" and simming within that option, also freezes. I have also tried simming the entire day, also freezes.

I've had minimal problems with the game though. I'm running it on Windows 7 Professional, and am unable to use the TiT or any of the additional programs to mod the game (thank you so much dennisjames for creating this mod in the format that you did). I'd love to continue my season & am thankful to read I am not the only one having this issue.

Please let me know if there's anything you need from me to help you guys solve this issue. Hopefully it will help me & everyone else whose having the same issue. Thanks again for all of the hard work on this!

Is anyone having issues with AT&T Park? I'm trying to play a home game with the SF Giants but the stadium comes up for a few seconds then crashes to the desktop. Both Day and Night games are crashing to the desktop. Can someone verify on their end that playing a game at AT&T Park is working for them. Thanks.

daflyboys I appreciate the reply. I not in front of the comp now but I'm assuming I have them all on if that is the default setting. Do ALL 3 options have to be turned to off or just one? Whatever you say to do, I'll try tomorrow & report back. Thanks again for getting back to me.
