  1. Would love to see a Eric Hosmer/KC Royals!! Great work you do, Moddingway!
  2. Once you have the pinch hitter on the mound, simply replace him with a new pitcher from your bullpen. The pitcher batting in the NL does make for some moves throughout the game, but for the best challenge, play with a DH. You have to pitch to NINE hitters, and you never get a break like you do in the NL. This is one of the primary reasons the AL is generally considered superior to the NL in terms of hitters and pitchers.
  3. You can nod the pitcher off simply by choosing a different pitch and location. The pitch calling of the catcher has a lot to do with his ratings. Some are better than others.
  4. I broke down and bought an XBox 360 so i could play Madden this year. It's OK, but not great. I thought, let me try a few other games. What a waste of money. I'm done with consoles,,,,they suck, unless you like death and destruction first person psycho nutjob Columbine shooter games. It's sad to see this is the last PC baseball game with graphics. If OOTP could only make a graphic engine to go with it's outstanding sim engine...
  5. I totally agree with JoeRudi and emath here. Even if you are a contributor, whether it be awhile back or recently, it would be great to see a concentrated effort on their part to become lifetime members. I too had the contributor status, but ABSOLUTELY believe that for what we get here another 10 bucks is easy to part with. Like JoeRudi says, skip a couple of happy meals or soemthing similar. Honestly, Trues should have been charging for this service a long time ago.
  6. Trues, $10.00 is a bargain. Thanks for the great site. I've downloaded a bunch of great mods and read many topics in many forums, gathering information for MVP and now 2K9, and have benefited greatly. It's been a while since I last contributed, so it's really 10 measly dollars that are overdue to your endeavors. I appreciate the fine work of the modders and yourself, and hope this site can continue on. I would encourage everyone that's like me, who basically lurks in the background, enjoying the crisp conversation about a variety of topics, who enjoys hours of fun from the mods we cherry pick, to step up and help this site out. There's no big government taxing you into this, there's noone forcing you to do this, it just seems the right thing to do at the right time. Thanks again to all the modders and especially Mr. Trues. P.S. - I am now a proud Lifetime Member!!
  7. - I hope like heck that the Indians used up all their runs for the month when they went into to NY and just ladled the evil empire. They come to KC next week. -Greinke ain't half bad, huh? -In 1976, I watched The Bird pitch a complete game against the Royals (on my old black and white telly), and I can STILL remember parts of that game, especially Bird himself. Very FEW games I can remember like that......what a unique talent and person he was. We did not know him well enough, I think. -Not only is the great Harry Kalas gone, but NFL films will certainly not be the same without him, not to mention the Phils.
  8. -for those of you in college. Use this time wisely. Party if you want to be like everyone else. A word to the wise is sufficient.
  9. -That snow is just brutal. We've had snow and ice out here in the prairie (Western Kansas) since the last week of December, it finally starting melting away last week, now we get another mini-blizzard. Great. -Is there anything on this entire planet more irrelevant than the Oscars awards show? I started quizzing just about everyone I came in contact with, and NOT ONE person said they watch that pile of crap. Personally, I think the Hollywood types ought to just make movies, and if they want to congratulate each other, then fine, but please don't act like it's important or something. -I sure do miss George Brett, and the way he could lead a team. I sure hope Alex Gordon can resurrect that spirit, and get the Royals back in to contention. Yeah, I know they don't spend the money like the Yankees and Red Sox, but I think teams can still be competitive without trying to buy a championship like they do. Look at the Twins and A's....they are always competitive. St. Louis probably has half the payroll as the yankees. It can be done.
  10. I can't believe it, but I'm getting ready to go buy a new washer and dryer. 25 years ago, when my beautiful bride and I said, "I do",,,who woulda thunk this would be a Sunday afternoon highlight. I mean, really, think about how the colors in our clothes are just going to "pop" right out at us...... amazing.
  11. This is absolutely true. Physics demands that when throwing overhand, from a mound, DOWN to a batter's location, there will be no "upward" movement. As the ball leaves the hand, it instantly begins to decelerate, therefore, all "lift" is declining due to a drain of pressure (see Bernouli's principle about water pressure/lift). Since the rate of speed on the sphere is decaying, it simply CANNOT climb, without positive pressure, such as thrust behind it to propel it. Due to a break right or left, depending on which hand you throw the 2 seamer with, an optical illusion to the batter is achieved, depending on many factors, i.e., height of pitcher, height of batter, quality of pitch, and the angle of the plane from the mound to the point of crossing the plate. It simply looks like it is breaking up.
  12. Well, I will vote, I always have. I sometimes think the only good ballot I ever casted was for Ronald Reagan, twice. It may be dreaming, but I think a lot of the evil politicians could be done away with if we would just get some reasonable term limits in place. As for living overseas, I did that for 2 years. Yes, there certainly is a different viewpoint of the US when in another country, but to say a European's perspective of the US vs. an American's perpesective of any European country is somehow better, is complete and total nonsense. I find it extremely short sighted and intellectually dishonest to think and say that you can only see "how bad" the US is because you don't live there, and aren't a citizen. Ridiculous. Is the US superior or inferior to other countries? That depends on your definition of what is right and what is wrong. That of course, will be influenced by many factors, including social status, wealth, lack of wealth, political ambition, civil and social consciousness, etc., etc. This is very subjective, and if you are naive enough to believe that Germans or english or French somehow know what defines correctness, you are smoking crack. Does the US have faults? CERTAINLY......for example, we enslave generations of minorities, trapping them in a cycle of worthlessness, providing a surrogate daddy and encouraging them to accept the disgrace of welfare, generation after generation. If you have any delusions about what the Democratic party in this country was trying to accomplish with the passage of Civil rights bill in 1964, do yourself a favor, and listen to the man who signed into law, LBJ, on his released taped phone conversations. I wish I could say the Republicans were better. Although I believe they offer a better concept with individual rights/freedoms, and encourage accountability for oneself, and eschew government handouts and dependacy, they still hold interest in power brokering, particularly through attachment to corrupt corporations. All that said,,,, the USA is still the country that donates more people, time, money and effort to human aide throughout the world, year after year. As a group of people, we are pretty decent. I've lived in Europe, I cannot say the same for many of them.
  13. Politics, having been taken completely over by the media and professional politicians, suck. Our country is still great. The politicians (ALL OF THEM) suck. I really hate what has happened to baseball with the advent of money and TV contracts controlling prosperity. It's easy to say how much one hates the Yankees or the Red Sox, but they are merely operating within the accepted bounds of what is available to them. As a Royals fan, I would love the opportunity to outspend, outbid, and basically take whatever free agent you want, pretty much every year. It may not translate into World Series championshis as often as you feel that kind of investment should, but it ALWAYS makes you a competitive team. I only wish baseball would view itself as a league, rather than a collection of wealthy teams, controlling all the money. Is Shannon Sharpe as ignorant and uniformed as he sounds, or is it an act? No offense, but the man sound completely stupid, and has yet to make a relavent or lucid point whilst he flaps his jaws on yet another silly NFL talk show. I like the DH. I think it takes WAY more strategy to manage against, and pitchers in the AL don't get the automatic outs every ninth batter. I hate watching pitchers bat,,,they pretty much suck at it. Having said I like the DH, I also would love to see the pitcher's mound restored to it's original height, and I would love to see strikes called in accordance to the rule book, i.e., a strike is from the armpits or top of the letters, to the top of the knees, and covers the black on the plate. Also, a time limit between pitches would be nice. Any move to speed up the gme, and get the batters swinging would be nice, and I think more folks would watch the game, rather than strictly baseball fans. There is almost nothing about Barry Bonds I respect. Why isn' t Jim Rice, Hawk Dawson, Bert be home Blyleven, Lee Smith and Ron Santo in the Hall of Fame? I love steak. It's what's for dinner. Shannon Sharpe is an idiot. What is CBS thinking? I would think you want pople who are competent and well spoken, with articulated and sound reasoning, not completely stupid morons, who talk like they have ground up walnuts in their mouths. The NBA should just go away, or merge with WWE wrestling. It all looks fake and is about trash talking, and smack talking and stupid crap like that. It's ridiculous,,,,,maybe they could get Shannon Sharpe to be their poster boy. Him and Bob Costas could be the face of the new "WWENBA" league,,,,,, stupid announcers and stupid sports combined!!!
  14. Now that I have this information, please don't hurt me because of my negative posts on the Yankees. I've been watching those movies too.
  15. Agreed. If my comment suggested that all cheating was the same, then shame on me for making such a statement. There ARE degrees of cheating. You and I are quite possibly in agreement here.
