  2. Total Classics 1978

The 1978 season featured a constant battle for first place in the AL East between the Red Sox and Yankees. On July 19, 1978, the Yankees were in 4th place, 14 games behind the Red Sox.

On October 1, 1978, the final day of the regular season, the Red Sox won and the Yankees lost, making them tied for first place with identical 99-63 records.

On October 2, 1978, the two clubs met in a one game playoff. Cy Young Award winner Ron Guidry notched his 25th victory of the season and Bucky Dent secured his place in Yankees history by hitting a 3-run home run over the Green Monster.

The 5-4 game is considered by many as one of the most exciting games in Major League history.

  6. Total Classics *61

*61 was a very Special Season in Baseball History: Expansion had begun, Ruth's 60 home run record was broken (although with an " * ") and perhaps even more noticeable was the coming of the '60s ------ Yes, it was a Special Time in Baseball as well as a Special Time in America

"The M&M Boys" (Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris) became THE single most important story in the 1961 season as both New York Yankee teammates raced to beat Babe Ruth's single-season homerun record of sixty. After going head-to-head for several months, Mantle fell out of the race due to a serious hip infection that required hospitalization. Maris pressed on and finally topped "The Bambino" during the final game of the season with number 61* off Tracy Stallard of the Boston Red Sox.

    -------------------------------------------

The Total Classics *61 mod brings you the sights and sounds of the 1961 baseball season. Besides rosters, portraits, uniforms and audios, the mod provides themed menu and loading screens, stadium select screens with actual stadium photos and correct 1960's era stadiums.

We hope this recreation of the 1961 Major League Baseball season brings enjoyment to both the seasoned veterans of our MVPMods family as well as the much younger members that would like to take a trip back to see what it was all like in those wonderful days of the very early '60s. This project is a mere continuation of the overall Total Classics phenomena which has taken hold here at MVPMods.

    -------------------------------------------

Much credit needs to be extended to the "Entire" Total Classics Team for creating such an interest in Oldtime Classic Baseball. We hope this project ignites a real interest in the recreation of entire seasons.

  7. Total Classics 1988

In Game One of the 1988 World Series at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers trailed the Oakland Athletics 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth inning when the Dodgers' Kirk Gibson, badly injured in the NLCS against the New York Mets, hobbled to the plate to pinch-hit against Oakland's lethal closer, Dennis Eckersley.

With two outs, a 3-2 count against him, and Mike Davis on second base, Gibson used his upper body and wrists to launch a backdoor slider from Eckersley into the right-field stands for a 5-4 Los Angeles victory. Gibson's home run re-energized the underdog Dodgers and shattered the confidence of the A's, who lost the series in five games.

It inspired the coining of the phrase "walk-off home run," and is widely regarded as one of the greatest moments in baseball history.

    -------------------------------------------

The Total Classics 1988 mod brings you the sights and sounds of the 1988 baseball season. Besides rosters, portraits, uniforms and audios, the mod provides themed menu and loading screens, stadium select screens with actual stadium photos.

    -------------------------------------------

    *** INSTALLATION ***

Installation can be done using the supplied installer or by manually copying the files to your game folder.

    -------------------------------------------

    *** NOTES ***

    A) It is recommended that you install Total Classics 1988 over a clean install of MVP Baseball 2005 with at least up to Patch #2.

This mod was built for the complete replay of the 1988 Major League Baseball Season. Dynasty Mode for a single season is recommended, however, the mod has been completely tested for Exhibition mode as well.

    C) Only the 26 major league teams (and All-Star teams) from 1988 have been created. The other 4 major league teams have their default 2005 rosters. These extra teams do not appear in the game schedules and their player attributes are the default MVP 2005 settings. In addition, only text changes have been made to the Minor League teams. Roster, logo, and audio changes will come in future releases.

    D) If you play a dynasty, it is HIGHLY recommended that you TURN OFF trades & injuries to maintain the opening day 25 man rosters intact throughout the season.

    E) Most teams have accurate 1988 uniforms. An effort has been made so that each team's home and away uniforms are in the default slots. The same has been for the select screens as well.

    F) You MUST use a profile that unlocks the classic uniforms. If you do not, some of the uniforms in this mod may not appear in the game.

    G) An MVPEdit file named 'TC1988.mbe' is included with the mod.

    -------------------------------------------

This project is an extension of Total Classics. Credit needs to be extended to the entire Total Classics team for creating such an interest in Oldtime Classic Baseball. Hopefully this mod will inspire others to create more full season mods.

Thanks and appreciation also go out to the the many MVPModders that have contributed so much to the overall Total Classics experience and continue to do so today. This includes those Cyberface modders, Stadium modders, Uniform modders, Roster modders, Audio modders, etc.

Some of the material from Total Classics, Total Classics *61, Total Classics 1967 and Total Classics 1978 was used (with permission) in the Total Classics 1988 mod.

  8. Total Classics 1956

Once again, the eyes of the baseball world were on the bright lights of New York City (for the fourth time in five years) as the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Yankees met on familiar ground for the coveted World Series championship. The "Bronx Bombers" had bested "the Bums" in three out of the four meetings, but it was the Dodgers who had the last laugh by winning their first title off a dominant Game 7 in '55.

The 1956 World Series would be the last one for Brooklyn (and last Subway Series for 44 years) and it promised to be a clash of the titans, with American League Triple Crown winner Mickey Mantle facing off against 27-game winner (and inaugural Cy Young Award winner) Don Newcombe.

The Yankees won the Series in seven games, 4 games to Brooklyn's 3, capturing their 17th championship. Brooklyn won games one and two, but New York pitchers threw five consecutive complete games (Games 3-7) to cap off the comeback. The highlight was Don Larsen's perfect game in Game 5, the only no-hitter in the history of major league post-season play.

  11. Total Classics 1969

Professional baseball's centennial year began with the expansion of both leagues to 12 teams and the introduction of division play in both leagues, as Montreal and San Diego joined the National League and Seattle and Kansas City (Royals) the American League. Because pitchers had become overly dominant in the game, the mound was lowered and the strike zone shrunk to spruce up the hitting.

    Other news items included:
    Ken Harrelson, who created an uproar by refusing to report after Boston traded him to Cleveland, and only did so after a significant pay raise;

    Donn Clendenon, who refused to be traded to Houston by Montreal and wound up in New York with the Mets;

    Mickey Mantle, who could no longer fight injury and age called it quits before the season opened;

Ted Williams, who returned to uniform as the manager of the Washington Senators.

None of these events, including the firing at season's end of Billy Martin of the Western Division champion Minnesota Twins, or the bankruptcy of the Seattle Pilots in their first and only year of existence could equal the biggest surprise in baseball's long history…
The “MIRACLE of the “AMAZING METS !

Oh, But perhaps the United States Landing a Man on the Moon in July of 1969 is also fairly memorable too !

Yes, it was a Special Year in Baseball in 1969. While Baseball was celebrating it first 100 Years across America the turbulent 60's were ending. Without question “The Times They Had Forever Changed!" as the ultimate faith of the Vietnam War had become reality. America would never be the same and neither would her National Pastime… BASEBALL !
    -------------------------------------------

We hope this recreation of the 1969 Season and the 100th Anniversary of Major League Baseball brings enjoyment to both the seasoned veterans as well as the much younger Total Classics enthusiast that would like to trip back to see, hear & feel what it was all like in those wonderful days as the '60s were winding down and America was bracing for the arrival of the 70's.

A ) This mod was built for the complete replay of the 1969 Major League Baseball Season. Thus, the use of Dynasty Mode for a single season is recommended. Although other Major League teams are represented in this mod and should be essentially correct they have not been fully tested but likely are OK to use in Exhibition Play.

B ) Although some Minor League Teams are fairly well represented these also have not been tested and it is "HIGHLY RECOMMENDED" that you “TURN OFF" Trades & Injuries to maintain the opening day 25 man rosters intact throughout the season.

C ) It is recommended that you install TC69 over a clean install of MVP Baseball 2005 with at least up to Patch #2.

D ) It will be necessary for you to install a Profile that UnLocks all Classic Uniforms.

    E) In the directory where you install TC1969 you will find a subdirectory named “TC69 Extras". This directory includes:

    1) The most up todate MVPEdit .mbe file for TC69. It is recommended that you import this .mbe file to capture any potential last minute minor updates.

    2) A file named “Sliders.doc" which are the slider setting used to validate the realism & accuracy of this mod during CPU vs CPU style games. You may choose to try these out.

    3) A file named “Glass_Profile.sav" which is a profile to unlock everything. This file should be placed in your “My DocumentsMVP Baseball 2005" directory if you care to use it.

    4) A copy of the TC69 Readme file.

  13. Total Classics 1967

They called it "The Great Race", and through the final week, the battle raged with the American League pennant at stake. Four teams fought, unable to shake off any of the others.

    1) The Boston Red Sox were the darlings of fans everywhere; rising up from 9th place in '66, they were 100-to-one shots seeking "The Impossible Dream".

    2) The Chicago White Sox had no batters as high as .250, but hung in the race on pitching, defense, and spirit.

    3) The Detroit Tigers were a strong team favored by the press to win it all.

    4) The Minnesota Twins came to life after manager Sam Mele was replaced in June by Cal Ermer and entered the Final Weekend up by 1 game over Boston & Detroit.

All four teams remained in the running into the final week, and the torrid chase set typewriters ablaze across America. Yes, it was a Special Year in Baseball as well as a Very Special Year for Carl Yastrzemski - Winner of the coveted Triple Crown.................

  14. Total Classics 1951

On August 11, 1951, the New York Giants were 13 games behind the Brooklyn Dodgers in the National League. For all intent and purposes, the National League race was over. Someone forgot to tell that to the Giants, however. On August 12, the Giants kicked off a 16-game winning streak. Led by 20-year old Rookie of the Year Willie Mays and Sal Maglie (2.93 ERA and a league-leading 23 wins), New York won 39 of its last 47 (including the final seven) to pull into a first-place tie with the Dodgers.

A split of the first two playoff contests set up a dramatic deciding game at the Polo Grounds on October 3. The Dodgers took a 4-1 lead into the bottom of the ninth. With Don Newcombe cruising along, three outs did not seem to be a tall order. Al Dark and Don Mueller then opened the inning with singles. After the heavy-hitting Monte Irvin popped out, Whitey Lockman ripped a double to left, scoring Dark and sending Mueller to third and Newcombe to the showers.

Owning a 4-2 lead with the tying run in scoring position, Dodger skipper Chuck Dressen called for the right-hander Ralph Branca. Bobby Thomson stepped up to bat and on the second pitch, lined a game-winning, three-run homer to left - the "Shot Heard 'Round the World" -- giving the Giants the pennant and forever linking himself with Branca as baseball's classic hero-and-goat duo.

  16. Total Classics 1997

    Total Classics 1997
    By kyleb

The 1997 baseball season was a good one for fans of the Florida Marlins -- they didn't have to wait long to celebrate a world championship. The 1993 expansion club squeaked into the playoffs through the wildcard but knocked off three heavily favored teams to sit atop the baseball world -- if only for a little while. After earning the wildcard berth, Florida knocked off the Giants in the first round. The underdog Marlins then took the Braves in six to win the National League title, battering Atlanta pitching stars Tom Glavine and John Smoltz. The 1997 World Series, though sometimes comically sloppy, was highly entertaining. After splitting the first two games in Miami, the teams moved to Cleveland and were greeted by high winds and freezing rain. Game three, which took more than four hours to play, featured six errors in a 14-11 Marlins win. The teams then traded victories before returning to much warmer Miami. In game six, Chad Ogea stepped up and pitched Cleveland to a 4-1 win, forcing a final winner-take-all matchup. Game seven was one of the most thrilling World Series games ever. The Indians held a 2-0 lead before the Marlins scored one on Bobby Bonilla's seventh-inning homer. In the last of the ninth, facing defeat, Florida tallied again on second baseman Craig Counsell's sacrifice fly. In the home 11th, Counsell reached on Tony Fernandez's error. A walk and an infield out later, he stood on third. Marlins shortstop Edgar Renteria then rapped a single up the middle to score Counsell, end the series, and send 67,204 fans into hysterics.

  18. Total Classics 1976

    Total Classics 1976
    By Jim825 & dennisjames71

During the 1976 baseball season, fireworks reigned as the United States celebrated its bicentennial and baseball's National League honored its 100th season.
The year also marked Marvin Miller's tenth anniversary as executive director of the Players Association. After the 1975 season, Miller went to bat for pitchers Andy Messersmith and Dave McNally, who were declared "free agents" by an arbitrator. The ruling so angered the owners that they locked the players out of spring training.
The season did begin on schedule -- thanks to the intervention of commissioner Bowie Kuhn -- but the sport of baseball had been irrevocably changed. Free agents became commonplace and baseball salaries skyrocketed.
Mike Schmidt, the Phillies' third baseman, opened the season by slugging four of his major league-leading 38 homers in an 18-16 shootout with Chicago. Schmidt led a team loaded with recently acquired veterans, including outfielders Bobby Tolan, Jay Johnstone, and Garry Maddox; second baseman Dave Cash; and pitchers Jim Lonborg and Tug McGraw.  Philly won 101 games in 1976, finishing 9 up on Pittsburgh.
Cincinnati continued to dominate in the West, winning 102 games. Baseball's best second baseman, Joe Morgan (.320 average, 27 home runs, 111 RBI), walked away with his second consecutive MVP trophy.
After a two-year hiatus, the Yankees returned to a renovated Yankee Stadium and played like the Bombers of old.  With Chris Chambliss, Willie Randolph, Graig Nettles, and Thurman Munson guarding the infield; speedster Mickey Rivers patrolling in center; and Sparky Lyle leading the American League with 23 saves, the Yanks finished first in the East, 10½ up on the Orioles.
Kansas City's 23-year-old George Brett led the American League with a .333 average, winning a disputed batting title over teammate Hal McRae by one point. Brett won the crown on the last day of the season against Minnesota; he smacked one to outfielder Steve Brye, who seemed to deliberately misplay the ball, allowing Brett to get his needed hit.  The hit didn't affect the American League West standings, though, as Kansas City finished 2½ up on the second-place A's.
The Reds swept the Phils in the National League Championship Series in three games. The American League Championship Series, however, was a classic five-game series.  Although KC's Brett hit a sizzling .444, the spotlight was on Chambliss, New York's first baseman. Chambliss hit .524 with eight RBI, including a homer in the bottom of the ninth of game five -- a shot fans still talk about.
The 1976 World Series, however, was a disappointment.  Billy Martin's Yankees had little left against the powerful Big Red Machine, as the Reds won in four. Bench ripped the Yankees' pitching for a .533 average, making Cincinnati the first National League team since 1922 to repeat as World Series Champions.

  20. Total Classics 1995

    Total Classics 1995
    By kyleb
The stars of Major League Baseball returned to the field in 1995 after the image-tarnishing strike that led to the cancellation of the 1994 World Series.
Shortened to 144 games, the 1995 season didn’t begin until late April. Fans  were still bitter after the 1994 season let the teams hear it when the season finally started.
In the American League, the Cleveland Indians bludgeoned teams on the way to a 100-44 record. The Tribe cruised past Boston and Seattle to set up a matchup with the Atlanta Braves.
The Braves, losers of the World Series in 1991 and 1992, were led by one of the great pitching seasons of all time by Greg Maddux. Paired with Tom Glavine and John Smoltz, the trio would not be stopped in the 1995 World Series and defeated Cleveland four games to two.
Maddux won his fourth consecutive Cy Young award in ’95. Albert Belle became the first player to ever hit 50 home runs and 50 doubles in one season. Hideo Nomo and his mesmerizing delivery took home the NL Rookie of the Year award.
On a personal note, 1995 was the first season I followed as a young fan. Living in a state without a team and my only exposure to baseball being through movies and Sportscenter, I took on the Cleveland Indians as my favorite team. It was definitely a special time to discover the game.
I want to thank BallFour and Rising Son for their help on this mod. BallFour was game whenever I discovered a slight variation on a uniform for the mod. Rising Son took care of the overlay, so it looks much better than if I did it myself.
Total Classics 1995 features more than a dozen year-specific cyberface updates, special patches specific to 1995 on several uniforms and almost an entirely new portrait set from my last mod, Total Classics 1997. I believe only one player is missing a portrait.
I feel that this is the best roster set I’ve ever put together. It involved more player-specific research than I had ever done before, referencing books and magazines of the era to better reflect pitcher repertoires and attributes.
I hope everyone loves this mod and much as I enjoyed making it!

  21. Total Classics 1927

With an all-star lineup known as "Murderer's Row", the New York Yankees outscored their opponents by nearly four-hundred runs and hit .307 as a team. Babe Ruth set the original single season mark with sixty home runs which was more than any other American League team had combined. Outfield counterparts, Earle Combs in center and Bob Meusel in left, hit .356 and .337 respectively. Lou Gehrig had his first big season, batting .373 with forty-seven home runs and a league leading one-hundred seventy-five runs batted in. Second year man Tony Lazzeri ranked third in the American League with eighteen home runs.

The Yankees' grand finale for the 1927 season, the World Series, was the quickest ever played and lasted only seventy-four hours and fifteen minutes. They became the first American League team to sweep a World Series, and it was only the second four game sweep in World Series history. The Yankees trailed a total of only two innings during the entire series out scoring the Pirates 23-10. Pittsburgh, only once, managed to score more than one run in an inning (during Game 4).

    -------------------------------------------

The Total Classics 1927 mod brings you the sights and sounds of the 1927 baseball season. Besides rosters, portraits, uniforms and audios, the mod provides themed menu and loading screens, stadium select screens with actual stadium photos, 1920's/1930's jukebox and batter walkup music and correct 1920's era stadiums for every team.

    Total Classics 1915
    By dennisjames71
Deadball baseball is alive and well!
In this Total Classics Mod, you can re-live the 1915 baseball season with many legendary stars from the early 20th Century in their prime years. Pitching definitely rules with Hall-Of-Famers like Pete Alexander chalking up 31 wins and Walter Johnson with 27. Home Runs in 1915 were at a premium with Gavvy Cravath of the Phillies hitting a Babe-Ruthian 24 HRs in the season (the largest total in the century up until that time). Speaking of the Babe; you’ll see him here in his first full season as a starting pitcher for the World Champion Boston Red Sox who faced the Phillies in the World Series. Another historical oddity that you’ll see here is legendary hitter Rogers Hornsby on the bench for the St. Louis Cardinals because he only played in 18 games as a green rookie in 1915.

    The 1915 Mod Includes:
*Ground-up rebuild that introduces a games interface similar to the iconic 1915 Cracker Jack Baseball cards.
*1915-era photos, loading screens, backgrounds, jukebox music, walk-up music.
*The 16 Major League Teams plus a bonus Federal League team; the Chicago Whales who won the 1915 Federal League Championship.
*2 Custom All-Star Teams (with 1915-esque uniforms) made up from the best players in each league.
*All fireworks visuals, fireworks sounds, and siren sounds are removed when hitting a home run.
    *Full 154-game official 1915 schedule.
*Modded 16 stadiums plus a modded Weeghman Park for the Chicago Whales team.
*Created uniforms for all teams. The look of the 1915 Whales road uniforms is not officially known so I designed what I thought it could look like.
*OTBJoel’s excellent Legends From the Booth audio mod with Vin, Ernie, and Mel calling the games.
*In this initial version; there is not a lot of player audio; but there are player announcements for the star players of the era such as Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, Tris Speaker, Babe Ruth, and Joe Jackson, for example.

    Contributions and Thanks:
bctrackboi11 for his great custom, old-time baseball and baseball bats of the era. Joe Jackson’s famous Black Betsy bat is part of his contributions too. Thank you also for creating the promo YouTube video earlier this year. Excellent work!

OTBJoel for his iconic Legends From the Booth audio mod that automatically makes this (and any) game 2000 times better. Thank you also for creating the team names for the Brooklyn Robins and the Chicago Whales for me.

DylanBradbury for his great work on creating a 1915 schedule to make the mod’s experience that much better. Also, a tremendous thank you for your superb batting/fielding/pitching calculators. This mod would not have been possible without those. I used these calculators for every single player and simmed 4 different seasons and many of the stats almost mirror the real-life results of the 1915 season. These calculators are scary-accurate.

Special thanks always goes out to Jim825 and all members that have created past Total Classics mods. I can’t tell you guys what an inspiration your creations have been to motivate me and they are always a joy to play.

There is always potential for improvements to my mod and they may be coming soon. Perhaps more player audio and the additional 7 Federal League teams may become a reality in later versions; but in the meantime enjoy this mod that captures a special era in baseball history.
    Have Fun!!

  23. Total Classics 1984

    Total Classics 1984
    By Jim825 & dennisjames71

The best teams of the 1984 baseball season had previously posed little threat of contention. The San Diego Padres, who closed the year as National League West winners, had just one winning season in their 15-year existence.

Neither the Cubs nor Mets, who duked it out in the National League East, had challenged for the pennant in over a decade. And the Tigers, who became 1984 World Series Champions, hadn't been to the playoffs since 1972.

The Tigers were the premier team of 1984, going 104-58. Their pitching was solid, with Jack Morris, Dan Petry, and Milt Wilcox all winning at least 17 games. Reliever Willie Hernandez won both the Cy Young and MVP Awards, posting 32 saves in his first 32 opportunities.

The Detroit offense, powered by Kirk Gibson, Lance Parrish, Alan Trammell, and Chet Lemon, led the league in homers and runs scored. Their up-the-middle defense, with Parrish, Trammell, Lemon, and Lou Whitaker, was the best in baseball. With this attack, the Tigers opened the season 35-5, easily capturing the division.

In the West, Kansas City edged out the Angels and Twins, despite winning only 84 games. The Royals' only standout player was Dan Quisenberry, who notched 44 saves.

The 1984 World Series was a formality, as Detroit rolled through the Padres' starting pitching and won the 1984 World Series four games to one. To show how dominant Detroit was in 1984, check out this stat: Including the postseason, the Tigers were 100-0 when leading after eight innings.

  24. Negro League Baseball Mod

    NEGRO LEAGUE BASEBALL

    By dennisjames71

After nearly a year of work…I wanted to finally present my All-Negro League Baseball Mod for MVP Baseball. After making my first negro league uniform last December, the effort snowballed into a full-fledged mod, thanks to all of the knowledge I’ve picked up and applied since then. At first I went at it for the purpose of making it for myself because of my love for the Negro Leagues; but I figured I would share my effort here so others may enjoy it as well.

So here’s what this thing is:
*A complete mod that transforms MVP Baseball into an 18-team (plus 2 EAST/WEST All-Star Teams) Negro League Mod. I’ve pulled some of the best all-time players from each franchise and through multiple eras, into a single team. Teams such as the New York Lincoln Giants will mostly have players from their best years in the 1910’s and early 1920’s for example.

*I’ve utilized the excellent Complete Book of Baseball’s Negro Leagues (John Holoway) and some Ootp All-Time Negro League spreadsheets to obtain the tough to find career statistics of many of the players. Statistics and Ratings for the better known players are more ‘polished’ than some of the lesser known players. Thanks to DylanBradbury’s superb batting/pitching calculators, I feel I was able to develop good but rough ratings for some lesser-known players who had very little information. I have portraits for the popular players and decided to use a generic negro league portrait for other players instead of the ‘blanked-out’ photos.

*Practically every single aspect of this game has been modded to get the user into a term me and redeck coined when we did our TC 1927 Integration series; historical immersion.

All music (walk-up & jukebox) is changed to very early blues and jazz songs.
Thanks to bctrackboi11; you’ll find “old” and worn baseball bats and a dirty, hard-to-see baseball.
African-American crowd in each of the 18 stadiums with celebrities like Joe Louis, Robert Johnson, and Duke Ellington making an appearance.
All fireworks visuals are removed. All fireworks and sirens sounds have been removed when a home run is hit. You will just hear the crowd roar.
All of the created uniforms are from the most popular eras of each franchise. Some teams (like the KC Monarchs) have 2 sets of home/road uniforms.

*I’ve modded/made 18 stadiums for the Negro League teams. They are typically modifications of the stock 1927 stadiums along with others. These are interpretations of well-appointed stadiums for the teams to play in and are by no means accurate; but they provide an excellent environment to play the games in.

*Much thanks to bctrackboi11 for his excellent and iconic 1942 KC Monarchs home uniforms and New York Cubans uniforms in which he gave permission to use. Credit goes to Thome25 for his late 40’s/early 50s New York Cubans uniforms which adds a nice touch as well. I had completed the remainder of the uniforms along with the brand new, original uniforms I made for the East and West all-star teams.

*I used many of the cyberfaces for popular players that me and redeck had in out TC 1927 Integration Mods. They were done predominantly by Homer and jogar84 and others. I apologize if I missed any of the other cyberface makers who allowed us to use them in our previous mods.

*I want to give thanks to my old partner redeck for being a motivator for making Negro League material when we worked on our mods in the past Winter/Spring. His painstaking work on those rosters enabled me to use many of the players and ratings into my full Negro League mod. Thank you bud.

*A ton of thanks goes out to OTBJoel for stadium and team audio. Back in the spring and before his epic Legends of the Booth mod; he was kind enough to provide his Legends to announce proper city/stadium names as well as team names for my mod personally. You will hear Ernie Harwell announce the game is between the “Homestead Grays versus the Kansas City Monarchs” for example.

*Unfortunately because I do not know player audio, there will be little of that throughout the game but perhaps if I am able to learn those skills, I can always update this project. Also since this was done prior to the Legends of the Booth release; this will have Kiper/Krukow play-by-play and commentary.

*Much thanks goes out to DylanBradbury who had created a tentative schedule that has a few kinks that we will iron out and it is included in the game. It is a 126-game schedule for Dynasty Play but please bear with us while we correct certain issues with it.

*Finally thank you Jim825 for keeping the flame burning of your excellent efforts of Total Classics Baseball. You have been an inspiration from Day 1 for me.

My mod is by no means the ‘end-all-be-all’ and definitive Negro League Mod but its accuracy and realistic values I feel are good enough for many of the Classic Baseball fans here at MVP Mods to enjoy and perhaps be inspired to create their own work or improve upon the foundation I have laid down, hopefully.

Lastly, this effort was done because of my enduring passion and respect for this group of men who played a wonderful style of baseball in the Negro Leagues. It was my nod of admiration and a way of creating a historical experience with these superb players and the game they played.

Feel free to try this out guys and I hope you enjoy the experience. It was well worth the effort to me.

    -Dennis

  25. Total Classics 1927 MLB/Negro Leagues

Total Classics 1927 MLB/Negro Leagues Merged by Redeck and DennisJames71

Welcome to Phase #2 of our Integration series

In Phase #1 of our efforts, we changed a few things graphically in TC27 and added about 50 star Negro League Players of the day to TC27.

In Phase #2, instead of just adding Negro Leagues Stars to existing MLB teams, we are adding the Negro Leagues top teams in 1927 to MLB via TC27. With this mod you will be able to play the 27 Yankees against the 27 Monarchs, the 27 Tigers against the 27 Homestead Grays. Chicago American Giants against the Chicago Cubs........

8 Negro teams in all from 1927 inserted into MLB in 1927. No MLB teams were harmed in the making of this mod.

The 8 teams were added 4 each to the National League and American League. The Leagues are hard coded to have 3 division each, so we have moved the teams around a bit and each division will have 4 teams for Dynasty play.

Installation: Installation can be done using the supplied installer or by manually copying the files to your game folder. Complete instructions with screenshots are included with the mod.

    Key Features for this mod:

    1) 8 Negro League teams each with actual Negro League players who played for them.
(the Negro League teams never carried more than 17-18 players, so to flesh out the rosters, Ive taken the rest of the Negro Leagues players and scattered them across the 8 chosen teams. In all, 200 Negro League Players were added to TC27)

    2) These Negro League teams need stadiums to play in, and so they shall have them. Once again Dennis James has come through in altering some lesser used minor league stadiums to give a feel of playing in parks we haven't really seen yet.

    3) These new parks come complete with proper audio welcomes provided by audio master OTBJoel.

    4) If you are going to add 8 teams to league play, by god you need a new schedule. Custom Schedule provided by Schedule Guru Dylan THE LINK Bradbury. Now thats one kind Canuck.

    5) New Splash and loading and CTS, all sorts of eye candy also provided by DennisJames.

    6) 200 Negro League players ratings, portraits, audio, and general mod piece collecting provided by myself, redeck.

    7) At least a quarter of these new players have cyberfaces collected from the communities downloads, including the fine faces created by Jogar.

    Special Features:

    A) This download includes many of DennisJames new 1927 era uniforms and Stadiums, Including some as yet unreleased. It also includes Edtench's Reds 1927 Reds Unis as well. Very Nice

The player names for all of MLB in this mod are done by Ernie Harwell and Vin Scully through OTB Joel's fabulous Legends of the Booth Mod.

    C) Also included here are more updated Stadiums from DennisJames. Some of these are yet unreleased as well.

The resources I used to determine the players rating:

Biographical Encyclopedia of the Negro Leagues
    James Riley

Complete Book of Baseballs Negro Leagues
    John Holloway

    and Dozens of websites

"Team Integration" DennisJames, RedEck, OTBJoel, DylanBradbury

Thanks to everyone who helped me learn some of these modding tricks, including but not limited to Jim825, OTBJoel, Homer, Jogar
