This is a Total Classics 1993 Update (160 Faces New or Updated)
The majority of the 160 faces are not mine. In no way am I taking any credit for creating them. All i did was simply
compile them, re-numbered them to fit the roster and created a handful more of my own.

all the names?
These 4 legends here, most of the faces came from there dedicated hard work.

1993 was nearly 30 years ago, so most of the players that were able to be used were created just a short time after the
games original release in 2005 or made as a classic face of some sort.
So that is why credit is going out to these 4 great retired legends.
But there were others,
I included more credit for individual faces
but if you see any of your work included in this file, PM me and I will credit you right away.
Credit also to the Total classics 10 team, Jim825 and others. Some faces were pulled from that mod. Just not sure who made what?
The object of this update is to improve on an already excellent TC1993 Mod, but it's just that an update, to improve the
faces that were originally included and add a host more.
Credit goes to HAWK233391, dennisjames71 and everyone else who helped to create this mod, without them these faces wouldn't
be needed.
This download is a collection of faces to replace the generic 901-915 faces, brand new faces
and updates to already included faces. If the face was updated, The Best of Best was chosen!
To avoid any crashes, if you will be adding these manually into your own edited roster, pay close attention to the 05/04
face designation. Some faces that were checked in MVPedit from the original TC93 roster as 04, now have a 05 face and
vice versa.
But i strongly recommend using the excellent new updated roster by KiwiLifter, and it will all be taken care of for you.
This was a labor of love, not to only improve on this mod, but also because 1993 was one of my favorite seasons to watch.
With these faces, plus hours of crash testing and KiwiLifter's new updated roster, this mod is not only more complete,
but it is also one of the few classic mods with a full MiLB roster, with real players, that multiple dynasty seasons can
be played.
This took weeks and entire weekends to do, downloading, sorting, testing & re-numbering, so I hope you enjoy it.

Total Classics 1941 By Jim825 & dennisjames71 Special thanks Yankee4Life who provided music and images for the mod. During the 1941 baseball season, the New York Yankees won the 1941 pennant by 17 games over Boston, but the pennant race was overshadowed by the personal heroics of two superstars. New York's American League MVP Joe DiMaggio put together a record 56-game hitting streak, and Boston's Ted Williams batted .406. In the summer of 1941, Joe DiMaggio hit safely in a record 56 consecutive games. DiMaggio, who had shown a predilection for hitting streaks since his minor league days, started his 1941 streak with a hit against the White Sox on May 15. On July 2, a DiMaggio homer broke Wee Willie Keeler's 44-year-old major league hitting-streak record of 44. And on July 17, his streak was ended at 56 by two terrific back-handed stops by Indians third baseman Ken Keltner. DiMaggio finished the season third in the American League in batting at .357, first in RBI with 125, second in doubles with 43, and fourth in home runs. But his season was dwarfed -- statistically, at least -- by that of Williams, who led him in runs 135 to 122, homers 37 to 30, on-base average .551 to .440, and slugging average .735 to .643. Williams also batted .406, the highest batting average in either league since Rogers Hornsby's .424 in 1924. At one point in June, Williams was hitting .436 but then began to fade. On the final day of the season, he found himself at .3995 -- technically .400 by baseball scoring rules. Nevertheless, Williams refused to play it safe and played both ends of a doubleheader. In the 1950,s the Braves moved from Boston to Milwaukee, the Browns from St. Louis to Baltimore, the Athletics from Philadelphia to Kansas City, and for the 1958 baseball season -- in the most shocking moves of all -- the Dodgers and the Giants from New York to California.
Ebbets Field was leveled (the Polo Grounds stood for several additional years), as the Dodgers made a home of Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and the Giants set up shop at Seals Stadium in San Francisco. A record 78,672 attendees saw the Giants down the Dodgers on Opening Day at the Coliseum; the teams went on to pull in 167,204 supporters for the three-game series. The Dodgers drew 1,845,556 fans by year's end. Both teams would soon build new stadiums.

The 1997 baseball season was a good one for fans of the Florida Marlins -- they didn't have to wait long to celebrate a world championship. The 1993 expansion club squeaked into the playoffs through the wildcard but knocked off three heavily favored teams to sit atop the baseball world -- if only for a little while. After earning the wildcard berth, Florida knocked off the Giants in the first round. The underdog Marlins then took the Braves in six to win the National League title, battering Atlanta pitching stars Tom Glavine and John Smoltz. The 1997 World Series, though sometimes comically sloppy, was highly entertaining. After splitting the first two games in Miami, the teams moved to Cleveland and were greeted by high winds and freezing rain. Game three, which took more than four hours to play, featured six errors in a 14-11 Marlins win. The teams then traded victories before returning to much warmer Miami. In game six, Chad Ogea stepped up and pitched Cleveland to a 4-1 win, forcing a final winner-take-all matchup. Game seven was one of the most thrilling World Series games ever. The Indians held a 2-0 lead before the Marlins scored one on Bobby Bonilla's seventh-inning homer. In the last of the ninth, facing defeat, Florida tallied again on second baseman Craig Counsell's sacrifice fly. In the home 11th, Counsell reached on Tony Fernandez's error. A walk and an infield out later, he stood on third. Marlins shortstop Edgar Renteria then rapped a single up the middle to score Counsell, end the series, and send 67,204 fans into hysterics.

Mix an arrogant slugger, a tempestuous manager and an impatient owner, and you've got the Yankees 1977 baseball season. Prior to 1977, free agent Reggie Jackson left the Baltimore Orioles and joined the Yankee roster. During the season, Reggie fought with Yankees manager Billy Martin, who clashed with owner George Steinbrenner, who didn't get along with anyone. Yankeeland quickly became known as the "Bronx Zoo." At the start of 1977, it looked like the Yankees would breeze to the playoffs. They won 97 in 1976, and now they added Jackson, Don Gullett, Mike Torrez, and Bucky Dent -- not to mention rookie phenom Ron Guidry. But the Yanks' season wasn't easy. New York won the American League East with 100 victories, but had to weather serious challenges from Baltimore and Boston, which both finished 2-1/2 games behind. In the American League West, Kansas City won 102 games and took the division by 8 games over Texas. In the National League, the big news was the trade of Tom Seaver to Cincinnati. The 32-year-old righthander posted a 14-3 record with the Reds, 21-6 overall. The Reds finished 10 games behind the Dodgers. Steve Garvey (.297 average, 33 homers, 115 RBI), Reggie Smith (.307 average, 32 homer), Ron Cey (30 homers, 110 RBI), and Dusty Baker (.291 average, 30 homers) did the damage. The Dodgers became the only team in history to boast four players with at least 30 homers. In the National League Championship Series, Los Angeles downed Philly in four games, with Baker blasting two key homers. The American League Championship Series went down to the last inning of game five. New York burned Kansas City pitchers for three runs in the top of the ninth to win the deciding game 5-3. The 1977 World Series between Los Angeles and New York became Jackson's private stage. In the sixth and final game, Mr. October launched three homers on three successive pitches to join another Yankee, Babe Ruth, as the only other player to hit three round-trippers in one Series game. Jackson batted .450 and belted a record five homers for the Series. -------------------------------------------

Total Classics 1993 Update (Uniforms & Stadiums)
Total Classics 1993 Update
I had recently received permission from HAWK233391 (the creator of the full 1993 Mod) to upload a graphic update to Total Classics 1993. Since it was released, I have enjoyed this mod greatly and wanted update the uniforms to the accurate versions for the 1993 season and I upgraded the turf for all the stadiums and improved the look of some of them as far as ads go. There are also a few menu/cosmetic updates for the game included in these files.
You can install these updates by simply extracting the contents of the ZIP file into your main game directory and overwrite all files. Please backup your game directory if there are any problems.
A huge thank you goes out to HAWK for his permission and for his excellent work and effort on the NBA 2K Mods and Ultimate Base Rosters.

Total Classics 10 (BaseUp! Roster Edits)

This set of rosters applies the global edits (predominantly fielding) to the TC10 roster pack. This is only being done as a matter of preference/option and in no way reflects any problems or difficulties with the original TC 10 rosters. In MVPedit, ranges for many attributes are 0-15. No individual edits have been done to any players. Readme file included for ranges.

During the 1976 baseball season, fireworks reigned as the United States celebrated its bicentennial and baseball's National League honored its 100th season.
The year also marked Marvin Miller's tenth anniversary as executive director of the Players Association. After the 1975 season, Miller went to bat for pitchers Andy Messersmith and Dave McNally, who were declared "free agents" by an arbitrator. The ruling so angered the owners that they locked the players out of spring training.
The season did begin on schedule -- thanks to the intervention of commissioner Bowie Kuhn -- but the sport of baseball had been irrevocably changed. Free agents became commonplace and baseball salaries skyrocketed.
Mike Schmidt, the Phillies' third baseman, opened the season by slugging four of his major league-leading 38 homers in an 18-16 shootout with Chicago. Schmidt led a team loaded with recently acquired veterans, including outfielders Bobby Tolan, Jay Johnstone, and Garry Maddox; second baseman Dave Cash; and pitchers Jim Lonborg and Tug McGraw. Philly won 101 games in 1976, finishing 9 up on Pittsburgh.
Cincinnati continued to dominate in the West, winning 102 games. Baseball's best second baseman, Joe Morgan (.320 average, 27 home runs, 111 RBI), walked away with his second consecutive MVP trophy.
After a two-year hiatus, the Yankees returned to a renovated Yankee Stadium and played like the Bombers of old. With Chris Chambliss, Willie Randolph, Graig Nettles, and Thurman Munson guarding the infield; speedster Mickey Rivers patrolling in center; and Sparky Lyle leading the American League with 23 saves, the Yanks finished first in the East, 10½ up on the Orioles.
Kansas City's 23-year-old George Brett led the American League with a .333 average, winning a disputed batting title over teammate Hal McRae by one point. Brett won the crown on the last day of the season against Minnesota; he smacked one to outfielder Steve Brye, who seemed to deliberately misplay the ball, allowing Brett to get his needed hit. The hit didn't affect the American League West standings, though, as Kansas City finished 2½ up on the second-place A's.
The Reds swept the Phils in the National League Championship Series in three games. The American League Championship Series, however, was a classic five-game series. Although KC's Brett hit a sizzling .444, the spotlight was on Chambliss, New York's first baseman. Chambliss hit .524 with eight RBI, including a homer in the bottom of the ninth of game five -- a shot fans still talk about.
The 1976 World Series, however, was a disappointment. Billy Martin's Yankees had little left against the powerful Big Red Machine, as the Reds won in four. Bench ripped the Yankees' pitching for a .533 average, making Cincinnati the first National League team since 1922 to repeat as World Series Champions.

Total Classics 1976 Patch #1
Use TiT to install the following patch.
*This patch will correct the portrait for 3B Brooks Robinson of the Baltimore Orioles.
*Also, this will correct the Chicago Cubs road uniforms from the gray color to the corrected sky blue road uniforms they wore that season. The uniform image I used from the Dressed to the Nines website appeared gray; but after viewing actual photos of the 1976 road uniforms, I realized that they were a sky blue-ish color instead.
*The corrected uniform select file for the Cubs is also included in this ZIP file.

I also included portraits, some new with the changed ID #'s as well. To make it easy
** Don't use this roster, unless you also downloaded and installed the Total_Classics_1993_Cyberface-Update_Mega Pack & Pack 2 Add on,
or you will get many crashes, because you won't have the faces to support the face IDs in the roster.
If you just want the audio, then use MVPedit to manually change the player iD's from the list included.

The 1971 baseball season was Vida Blue's year -- until October, when the veteran Baltimore Orioles showed the 21-year-old Oakland pitcher what pressure baseball was. They themselves were then taught a lesson by the Pittsburgh Pirates, World Series winners for the first time since 1960.
Blue's phenomenal first full season -- 24-8, 301 strikeouts, a league-leading 1.82 ERA, eight shutouts -- earned him both the American League's Cy Young and Most Valuable Player Awards.
Pittsburgh's speed, power, defense and pitching were too much for the National League East. Roberto Clemente led with a .341 average. His 86 RBI ranked second on the team, right behind Willie Stargell's 125. Although no Pirate pitcher won 20 games, the hurlers were well-balanced and had an ace in the hole in Dave Giusti, whose palmball brought in five wins and a league-high 30 saves.
In the NLCS, the Pirates overpowered the Giants, who had followed Bobby Bonds (.288 average, 33 home runs, 102 RBI) to a division title. After losing game one to the Giants, the Pirates turned on the power. They surged to a 3-1 series victory that featured a three-homer second game by first baseman Bob Robertson and homers by Richie Hebner in games three and four.
With Catfish Hunter's 21-11, 2.96 ERA season and the muscle of Reggie Jackson, Sal Bando, Rick Monday and Mike Epstein, Blue and the A's marched to a 101-60 record and a 16-game edge over Kansas City for the AL West title. The Orioles won 101 games as well, on the pitching of a record-tying four 20-game winners: Dave McNally (21-5), Mike Cuellar (20-9), Pat Dobson (20-8), and Jim Palmer (20-9). The Orioles also led the American League in runs scored for a convincing 12-game lead over second-place Detroit.
Orioles pitching was the key to their 3-0 sweep of the A's in the ALCS. Baltimore's hitting, however, couldn't keep pace in the 1971 World Series, and Pittsburgh won in seven games behind two complete game wins by Steve Blass. Blass was called upon after Baltimore whipped the Bucs at home 5-3 and 11-3. The Pittsburgh pitcher responded with a three-hitter and a 5-1 win.
Baltimore scored three runs in the top of the first inning of the next game -- but it was 22 innings before the Orioles scored again, as Bruce Kison and then Nelson Briles and Bob Moose kept them in check (Briles pitched a shutout in game five).
The Orioles came back to win game six in ten innings, but Blass slammed the door in game seven with a four-hit, 2-1 win.

Total Classics 1962

After much struggle with the city fathers of Los Angeles, Walter O'Malley finally opened his baseball emporium, Dodger Stadium, for the start of the 1962 season. O'Malley's highly regarded team drew a record 2,755,184 fans into the park, while pacing the National League all summer behind the star performances of Maury Wills, Tommy Davis and Don Drysdale. Of the trio, Wills proved the most exciting while en route to the league's MVP Award by committing the grandest theft act ever witnessed on major league turf --- 104 steals --- to break the 1915 mark of the legendary Ty Cobb. Davis, by hitting .346 and knocking in 153 runs, captured two of the major batting categories while Drysdale won the coveted Cy Young Award on the strength of his 25 victories.
But all the individual glory could not make up for an unfortunate incident which took place on July 17, when ace southpaw Sandy Koufax was lost for the season with a circulatory ailment in his fingers. In the final 13 contests, the Dodgers could only win three, while the San Francisco Giants won seven to tie Los Angeles on the final day of the season. The Giants stayed in contention all year with an attack centered on home run leader Willie Mays, and the slugging of Orlando Cepeda and Felipe Alou. Jack Sanford won 16 games in a row ending up with 24 victories for the season combined with Billy O'Dell's 19, Juan Marichal's 18 and Billy Pierce's 16 gave the Giants a very formidable staff that would lead them over the Dodgers in the Best of 3 playoff series.
In the American League, the fanfare took place before the final curtain. Cleveland, leading until the All-Star break, lost 19 of their next 24 games to drop into second division. While the Indians were faltering, the Los Angeles Angels and Minnesota Twins, the league's newest entries, were charging into contention. Although the joint efforts were commendable, both fell short. The Twins finished second on the strength of a strong batting attack, and the Angels third on the arms of their two colorful rookies, Dean Chance and Bo Belinsky. As usual, the Yankees were on top when the season closed even in an off year for the Bronx Bombers.

We hope this recreation of the 1962 Season brings enjoyment to both the seasoned veterans as well as the much younger Total Classics enthusiast that would like to trip back to see, hear & feel what it was all like in 1962.
This project is a mere continuation of Total Classics. Much credit needs to be extended to the "Entire" Total Classics Team for creating such an interest in Oldtime Classic Baseball. Much "Thanks" & "Appreciation" to the so many MVPModders that have contributed so much to the overall Total Classics experience and continue to do so today. A ) This mod was built for the complete replay of the 1962 Major League Baseball Season. Thus, the use of Dynasty Mode for a single season is recommended. Although other Major League teams are represented in this mod they have not been fully tested but likely are OK to use in Exhibition Play.
B ) It is "HIGHLY RECOMMENDED" that you -TURN OFF - Trades, Call Ups & Injuries to maintain the opening day 25 man rosters intact throughout the season.
C ) It is recommended that you install TC62 over a clean install of MVP Baseball 2005 with at least up to Patch #2.
D ) It will be necessary for you to install a Profile that UnLocks all Classic Uniforms. Robert Glass's unlock profile is provided in the "Extras" directory.
E) In the directory where you install TC1962 you will find a subdirectory named Extras. This directory includes:
1) The most up todate MVPEdit .mbe file for TC62.
2) A file named Sliders.doc which are the slider setting used to validate the realism & accuracy of this mod during CPU vs CPU style games. You may choose to try these out.
3) A file named Glass_Profile.sav which is a profile to unlock everything. This file should be placed in your My Documents MVP Baseball 2005directory if you care to use it.
4) A copy of the TC62 Readme file.

(2) Integrated New/Updated and other Cyberfaces after the original MVP 1994 was created (over 135+)
(3) Batting Gloves + Shoes - changed Home + Away and Alternate/Spring Jerseys on about every team
(4) Added Inter-league MLB Schedule to play more teams across the field
(5) Added optional CTS screen of the 1994 Texas Rangers

1993 Roster Update for Dynasty Play

1993 was the last year I played and closely followed competitive baseball. I was delighted to find HAWK233391's fantastic mod, as well as the great add on by dennisjames71.
I realized that what I wanted was to immerse myself completely in that 1993 world, and that to do this I would need full minor league rosters, and portraits for every player. I made small steps at adding a few players, but finally decided to do the whole thing.
There are three files that you'll need.
The first is the database with the complete roster for 1993. Every major and minor league team has a full compliment of real players from that season with all of their stats individually edited. I spent well over a hundred hours on Baseball Reference combing over the detailed stats for all these players, and hopefully have created a roster that is relatively accurate. Without question, I will have overlooked things, or gotten lazy when I was tired, so if something seems off, tell me! I may do an update with more free agents and foreign players in the future.
To install the roster, I recommend creating a new folder with the 1993 Total Classics mod and the 1993 Update. Then simply unzip my file, copy my "database" file into your 1993 mod "data" folder and replace everything.
I am currently working on how to upload my portrait and face files, as they are giving me errors.
Thank you to Hawk, Dennis, and especially to Dirtdog. He patiently answered my questions, walked me through uploading the files and, most importantly, spent a great deal of time ensuring that the new players matched up correctly with their face files. Thanks to him, playing this update should be a crash free experience! He will be releasing an update of his own as well.
Any feedback, good or bad, is welcome, and I hope that you enjoy the updated 1993 experience!

In the 1934 baseball season, Bill Terry's New York Giants had another good showing, scoring 760 runs, second-best in the league, and allowing only 583, the fewest of any National League staff. Young Mel Ott hit .326 with 119 runs scored (second only to Paul Waner's 122) and drove in a league-leading 135; Ott also drew 85 walks and tied with Ripper Collins for the home run title at 35.
It was, however, the rough and tumble St. Louis Cardinals, nicknamed the "Gashouse Gang" after the street gangs of one of Manhattan's worst neighborhoods, that won the pennant by two games in an exciting race. New York had led for 127 straight days, when on September 28, ace Dizzy Dean defeated the Reds 4-0 to bring the Cardinals even with New York. The next day, Dizzy's younger brother Paul won 6-1, while the Giants lost to Brooklyn. The day after that, the elder Dean shut out Cincinnati again, 9-0, to give St. Louis a lead it never relinquished.
Dizzy had been ridiculed for his preseason promise that the Dean brothers would win 45 games. By season's end, they had exceeded that total by four, and the 30-7 Dizzy was voted National League MVP. The other principal "Gashousers" were second baseman/manager Frankie Frisch, who hit .305; Collins, who batted .333 and drove in 128 runs; Leo Durocher, the league's top-fielding shortstop; Pepper Martin, the league's stolen base leader (23); and Ducky Medwick, who hit .319 with 18 triples.
Hard-hitting Detroit batted .300 -- the only major league team to do so -- on its way to a 101-53 record, seven games better than a New York Yankees team that finished second in runs scored. The 39-year-old Babe Ruth gave only a .288, 22-homer season performance; Lou Gehrig carried most of the weight, winning the Triple Crown with a .363 average, 165 RBI, and 49 homers. The New York pitchers rebounded to post a league-low 3.76 team ERA courtesy of titlist Lefty Gomez (who went 26-5 with a 2.33 ERA), 19-game winner Red Ruffing, and 14-game winner Johnny Murphy.
The Tigers lineup featured an awesome five 100-run men (including Charlie Gehringer, the league leader with 134), and four 100-RBI men (led by first baseman Hank Greenberg with 139). MVP Mickey Cochrane hit .320 and was credited with turning around the Tiger pitching staff, which finished second in team ERA at 4.06.
The Dean duo was the deciding factor in the close-fought, seven-game 1934 World Series. The brothers each recorded ERAs under 2.00 and won two games.
The 1934 World Series ended on a bizarre note, when in the midst of a St. Louis rout, the Detroit crowd interrupted the game to shower left fielder Medwick with garbage to protest his sixth-inning hard slide into Tiger third baseman Marv Owen. Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis ruled that the Cardinal outfielder leave the game for his own safety.
The departure made no difference to the Tigers, who went on to lose by a score of 11-0.

In the American League, the Yankees were in the 4th of 5 straight pennant winning years, and, led by MVP Elston Howard, cruised to the American League title by 10.5 games over the 2nd place White Sox.
In the National League, most experts figured the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers would be locked in another battle for the pennant, much like 1962 when the Giants came from behind and beat the Dodgers in a playoff. The Dodgers started slowly, perhaps feeling the hangover effect from blowing the pennant the year before. They were 2 games under .500 in early May, and trailed the surprising St. Louis Cardinals by 4.5 games. Then their pitching asserted itself, and on August 28, the Dodgers led the Giants by 5.5 games and the Cardinals by 6.5 games.
The Cardinals proceeded to win 19 of their next 20 games and, while the Dodgers didn't exactly slump, they went "only" 14–7 during that same period. Thus, the Dodgers went into St. Louis on September 16 to play the Cardinals in a 3-game series leading by only 1 game. With the memory of blowing the 1962 pennant fresh in their minds, the Dodgers proceeded to sweep the Cardinals and take a 4-game lead with 7 games to go.
The key game was the third one; the Cardinals led 5–1 in the 8th inning and a win would move them back to within 2 games of L.A. But the Dodgers got 3 in the 8th and in the top of the 9th, late season call up Dick Nen, in only his 8th major league at bat, hit a pinch hit homer to force extra innings. The Cardinals got a leadoff triple from Dick Groat in the 10th but could not score. The Dodgers then scored an unearned run in the 13th inning and won, 6–5. The disheartened Cardinals then lost their next 3 games as well while the Dodgers won 3 of their next 4 to clinch the pennant with 6 games left.
In the World Series, the Dodgers swept the Yankees in four straight games. The Dodgers' stellar pitching staff, anchored by left-hander Sandy Koufax and right-hander Don Drysdale, was so dominant that the vaunted Yankees, despite the presence of sluggers such as Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris in their lineup, never took a lead against Los Angeles the entire Series.

The Pittsburgh Pirates led the league in outfits during the 1979 baseball season. Their arsenal of uniforms was so vast -- black caps and yellow jerseys, yellow caps and white jerseys -- that they had 64 possible combinations at their disposal.
The Pirates' lineup of players was just as varied as their line of garb. They featured an outfielder who looked like a Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker (6' 5", 230-pound Dave Parker), and a pitcher who looked more like a placekicker (6' 4", 170-pound Kent Tekulve). And, of course, the Pirates had Willie "Pops" Stargell, an inspiring presence at bat and in the clubhouse. The Pirates, whose theme song was "We Are Family," won the National League East by 2 games over Montreal.
The World Champion Yankees didn't even come close to repeating, as they lost two key players. Relief ace Goose Gossage was sidelined for two months by an injury he incurred in a fight with teammate Cliff Johnson, and catcher Thurman Munson was killed in an airplane crash in August. The Baltimore Orioles ended the Yankees' three-year divisional reign, winning 102 games. Cy Young winner Mike Flanagan (23-9) paced the pitching staff, while veteran Ken Singleton (111 RBI) spearheaded the offense. They beat the Brewers by 8 games and the Red Sox by 11-1/2.
The American League West was tight to the end, as four teams ranked within 6 games of first place. The California Angels, starring MVP Don Baylor (139 RBI), took their first division crown.
The big news in the senior circuit was Pete Rose's preseason defection to the Philadelphia Phillies. His arrival did not promote the Phils to champs just yet, as they settled for fourth place. The Rose-less Reds were still good enough to win the National League West. Though the Big Red Machine was losing its hitting punch, its pitching was as strong as ever -- Tom Seaver went 16-6.
Pittsburgh swept Cincinnati in the National League Championship Series, though it took two extra-inning wins to do it. Stargell cracked two homers as the Pirates outscored the Reds 15-5. Baltimore defeated California in four games in the American League Championship Series, which included three nail-biting finishes and a shutout.
The Orioles and the Bucs battled through a seven-game 1979 World Series. After losing the opener, Pittsburgh evened it up when Manny Sanguillen drove in Ed Ott with a ninth-inning single. Baltimore won the next two games to go up three games to one, but the Pirates stormed back. They won the final three games -- 7-1, 4-0, 4-1 -- to take the 1979 World Series.

The 1948 baseball season saw many surprising events, new records, the death of Babe Ruth, and a few close calls. Baseball came within one game of having an all-Boston World Series in 1948, as the Braves went 91-62 to take the National League flag by 6 1/2 games over St. Louis, and the Red Sox finished the regular season tied with Cleveland at 96-58.
The star of the National League was 27-year-old, second-time MVP Stan Musial, who turned in the finest all-around year of his career. "Stan the Man" led the National League in batting, runs, RBI, hits, total bases, doubles, triples, on base average and slugging. He came within one home run of leading the National League in every major offensive category.
The Braves were led by Bob Elliott -- who hit 23 homers and drew 131 walks, and .300 hitters Eddie Stanky, Al Dark, Tommy Holmes, Mike McCormick, and Jeff Heath. On the pitching side, the Boston fans' cry was "Spahn and Sain and two days of rain." Johnny Sain went 24-15 to lead the National League in wins, complete games and innings.
Warren Spahn, 27, went 15-12 with 16 complete games and 257 innings. No other Braves pitcher won more than 13 games. Apparently, there were enough rain-outs that Boston led the National League in team ERA, complete games, and fewest walks allowed.
The American League race was still up for grabs at the All-Star break with Cleveland, Philadelphia, New York and Boston vying for the title. New York's Joe DiMaggio led the American League in home runs, and the Yanks' Tommy Henrich led in runs and triples. As the second half wore on, however, the best hitting team, Boston, and the best pitching team, Cleveland, rose to the top.
The Red Sox featured batting champion Ted Williams, Dom DiMaggio and Johnny Pesky, who was tied with Williams for third in the American League in runs. Williams batted .369, but lost out in the MVP voting to Cleveland shortstop Lou Boudreau, who was runner-up in batting at .355.
The Indians' main strength, like the Braves', was pitching. Unlike their National League rivals, however, the Indians staff was a deep one. The Tribe featured two 20-game winners in Gene Bearden and Bob Lemon, a 19-game winner in Bob Feller and spot starters Steve Gromek, Sam Zoldak, and Satchel Paige (who went a combined 24-10).
A coin flip determined that the one-game American League pennant playoff would be played at Boston's Fenway Park, and almost 30 years to the day before Bucky Dent's famous home run over the Green Monster, shortstop Boudreau won the pennant for the Indians with two home runs.
Cleveland then proceeded to make it a clean sweep of Boston, polishing off the Braves in the World Series. Cleveland's Feller went 0-2, but the Indians beat the Braves in six games on great pitching performances by Bearden (who pitched a shutout in game three), Gromek (who posted one win and a 1.00 ERA), and Lemon (who triumphed in two games).

With the end of World War I in 1919, both baseball and the nation as a whole returned to business as usual. For some ballplayers during the 1919 baseball season, "business as usual" unfortunately meant plotting with gamblers to fix games. Gambling-related scandals had been a part of baseball going back to the mid-19th century, but in 1919 the national pastime suffered the ultimate corruption: the intentional throwing of the 1919 World Series by eight members of the Chicago White Sox.
In a season limited to 140 games by a baseball establishment still worried about its patriotic image, Cincinnati compiled a 96-44 record to run away with the National League pennant by 9 games over second-place New York. The Reds had a two-prong attack. They had Edd Roush, Heinie Groh, Jake Daubert, and little leadoff hitter Morrie Rath; and they had a staff that allowed the fewest runs in the league and included 20-game winners Slim Sallee and Hod Eller, as well as Dutch Ruether, who recorded the third-lowest ERA in the league at 1.81.
In the American League race, an illusory powerhouse in Chicago had an unexpectedly difficult time shaking Cleveland and New York -- or perhaps the group later responsible for the 1919 World Series fix was dumping games for money down the stretch -- before finally finishing at 88-52, 3-1/2 up on Cleveland. The White Sox offense was powered by the .351-hitting Joe Jackson, Eddie Collins and Happy Felsch. Their pitching staff allowed the second-fewest runs in the league thanks to 29-game winner Eddie Cicotte and 23-game winner Lefty Williams.
The Reds won the crooked best-of-nine 1919 World Series five games to three. The most dramatic moments -- seen in retrospect, as the scandal didn't break until the following year -- came in games three and six, when pitcher Dickie Kerr overcame the best efforts of his eight dishonest teammates to win 3-0 and 5-4.
The best-known player in on the fix, Jackson, always maintained afterward that he was innocent. He pointed to his 1919 World Series-high .375 batting average and six RBI, although he never explained why he accepted money from the conspirators beforehand with free knowledge of their plans.

In the end, the 1955 baseball season belonged to the Brooklyn Dodgers. After a heartbreaking string of near-misses that began in 1947, the Dodgers finally had their year, breezing to the pennant and nipping the Yanks in seven tough games to win it all. It was the most balanced Dodger team in years. Roy Campanella fully recovered from the hand injury that hampered him in 1954 and once again led Brooklyn, batting .318 with 32 home runs en route to a third MVP Award.
Duke Snider belted 42 round-trippers with a .309 average and topped the league with 136 RBI and 126 runs scored. Don Newcombe rebounded from a poor season and pitched to a masterful 20-5 record, while Clem Labine was reliable out of the bullpen with 13 wins and 11 saves.
Sophomore skipper Walter Alston had the Dodgers flying out of the starting gate. They won their first ten -- 20 of their first 22 -- and were ahead by 12-1/2 on July 4. Eddie Mathews's 41 homers weren't enough for the Braves and Willie Mays's 51 dingers and .319 average weren't enough for the Giants as the Dodgers won the pennant by 13-1/2 games over Milwaukee and 18-1/2 over New York .
The Yankees and Yogi Berra, who won his third MVP, took a sixth American League flag in seven years. The Bronx Bombers, able to survive pitching problems with good years from Bob Turley and Don Larsen and with Mickey Mantle (a league-high 37 homers), held off Cleveland by 3 games with a 96-58 record. The Indians got 16 victories and a league-topping 245 strikeouts from Rookie of the Year Herb Score, but they lacked offensive punch and never really made a run for it.
Far and away, the highlight of 1955 was the World Series. The Yankees took the first two games 6-5 and 4-2. The Dodgers came back in the next three: Campanella had three hits and three RBI, including a two-run homer, to give Brooklyn and Johnny Podres an 8-3 win in game three. Campanella, Gil Hodges, and Snider all homered in the following contest and Labine pitched the final four frames, as the Dodgers evened the Series with an 8-5 victory in game four.
In game five, Snider hammered two more home runs and Sandy Amoros hit one, as the Dodgers won 5-3. The Yankees dominated the Dodgers in game six, winning 5-1 behind Whitey Ford's four-hitter. Podres took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth of game seven, but Billy Martin led off with a walk and then Gil McDougald bounced an infield single.
Berra strode to the plate for the go-ahead run. He lofted a fly ball deep into the left field corner. Amoros made the catch with an outstretched arm at the last second, then got the ball back to the infield to double up McDougald. Podres completed the eight-hit shutout that, at long last, crowned the Dodgers World Champions.

Total Classic 1955 Uniform Fix PATCH
A couple of errors that I had made were brought to my attention and i am happy to get those corrected in this patch. This will correct the proper Orioles 1955 road uniforms as well as remove the names on the back of the Red Sox road uniforms as well. Simply use TiT to install the included ZIP file into your main game directory for Total Classics 1955 and these issues will be corrected.

Total Classics 1946

The 1946 World Series was the first one played with rosters not depleted by the War since 1941. It featured the St. Louis Cardinals, taking part in their fourth World Series in five years, against the Boston Red Sox, who were making their first World Series appearance since Babe Ruth was a young left-handed pitcher in 1918. The Series would turn out to be a classic, seven-game, see-saw affair, with one play in particular, Enos Slaughter's "Mad Dash."
In the eighth inning of Game 7, with the score 3–3, the Cardinals' Enos Slaughter opened the inning with a single but two batters failed to advance him. With two outs, Harry Walker walloped a hit over Johnny Pesky's head into left-center field. As Leon Culberson chased it down, Slaughter started his dash. Pesky caught Culberson's throw, turned and perhaps surprised to see Slaughter headed for the plate, hesitated just a split second before throwing home.
Roy Partee had to take a few steps up the third base line to catch Pesky's toss, but Slaughter was safe without a play at the plate and Walker was credited with an RBI double. The Cardinals won the game and the Series in seven games, giving them their sixth championship. The Red Sox, meanwhile, saw their title drought extended and they had to wait until 1967 for another World Series appearance,
