YES! first one today! okay...

...been doing more sig making than ever. think i'm getting alot better.

...man, i had this powerpoint for school, okay? so i worked really hard on it, put in my best graphics, looked really cool and professional and everything. so, i present, i think it's pretty good. the teacher says, "nice powerpoint, abc." (well, okay, he doesn't quite say that. he says abc006.) so anyway, i sit down thinking i probably had done the best job with the graphics, seeing as i didn't present it as well as i hoped to. then, later, this person comes up to do her powerpoint. she did a decent job, but she just happened to have some word art and the background was colored in in rainbow. an absolute no-no if you want your design to look professional and nice. but my teacher still says, "Wow! those are some cool letters and graphics you got there! how do you do that? that's really interesting..."

...i promptly smack myself in the face. *sigh*

...a certain member is starting to really annoy me with it's increasingly dumb and discriminatory remarks...

It's actually quite common for teachers to do this on a student-by-student basis. If your teacher already knew you could do this sort of thing without to much trouble, but thought that the other student had make an exemplary effort in a new field, or had done even a reasonable job at something she wasn't naturally skilled at, he/she might have wanted to make special note of the job that the other student did in order to boost her confidence or to show that her good work was noticed, and appreciated.

As long as your grades are fine, don't worry about what other students are doing. There's an old saying that goes "Every time you point at someone else, you have 3 fingers pointing back at yourself". Use it. :)

actually, i would say that for almost every teacher except this one. he's kind of... different. he's not afraid of really bad jokes. still, he's probably my favorite academic teacher i have.

....Hospitals are no place to be. Trust me.

....But this is not a bad weekend at all! The Yankees got rid of Gary Sheffield, thank God and are very close to getting rid of Jaret Wright. And I like what they are getting in return: pitching.

...It's starting to get colder out there now. People say "the most wonderful time of the year" is coming up for the Christmas season. Maybe so, but not weather wise.

...I am a little confused about why major league teams had to bid so much money just to be able to talk with that Japanese pitcher. I mean, if you want to be in the major leagues so bad, have open negotiations with the teams. I just don't get why the teams have to bid 20 million or more just to talk to this guy.

...One final note on the Yankees. I don't want them to get Roger Clemens back. Or Andy Pettitte.

Its part of the Japanese posting process. If he had the choice, I'm certain he would hold open negotiations, but the Japanese team that has made him available requires monetary compensation for the rights to negotiate with him.

...Jarvis Moss and his 6'6" frame should get two rings if Florida ends up winning the National Championship. There's a long way to go, but games like that usually make or break a season.

...that being said, Ohio State and Michigan are two damned good squads. The only chance Florida has is to play without the dumb penalties that have plagued them all season.

...if it wasn't for me doing so well in fantasy football (not the mvpmods league in which I only win against "dead" opponents - my other one), I wouldn't know anything about what's going on in the NFL this season. ...The Yankees are playing it smart this offseason. By trading Sheffield, the Yankees get good if not great pitching from Detroit that we can expect to help out in 2008, and we get dead weight off our shoulders.

...Anyone who buys a PS3 on the launch date is a fool. There are no titles out worth buying along with the 600 dollar price. The PS3 will launch with 21 games this week. Three from Sony, and 18 from 3rd parties. But when you look at that list, only 7 of those games are not also available right now on the Xbox 360. Only 6 of them are even exclusive.

As for Blu-Ray, I have a hard time seeing spending hundreds of dollars to invest in a next generation movie format when there’s still two of them on the market and one is sure to die. No one wants to be stuck having paid hundreds of dollars for the next Beta Max. If you plan on buying one at launch, don't feel bad. If I had the excess money lying around, I’d probably be one of you. I’m a notorious early adopter. But logically, there’s no good reason to do so at the moment.

....Windows Vista is going to be such a system resource hog. I mean, why the hell would you want to use over 1GB of RAM for? What is the use? For more visually enhanced stupid gimmicks? I don't understand. With that said, I'll be purchasing a copy of Vista Ultimate, LOL. I mean, after I give my PC an overhaul.

...I still believe console gaming will always prevail over PCs, even though my feelings are the complete opposite. With PCs you always have to upgrade, be it minimal or a complete overhaul every two or three years. The PC I am using has been custom-made by me and I have only upgraded once every other year since 2003 when I first built it. With consoles, the developers are given guidelines as to what the console can do and they develop games within those guidelines. It is much easier to just pop in a game and have it play at optimum performance than to have to install a game and have it play like a slideshow on your PC because of driver conflicts or insufficient memory. I still love my PC though.

...My birthday is in a week and 1/2 and I don't know what to expect. Should I be paranoid? My parents have not told me anything really, and all I want is a new digital camera and clothes. Lots. of clothes. If I were to ever get enough money, I'd like to purchase one XBOX 360, but that seems out of the question now since my parents have told me that this month they are "broke".

I want to work at a video game store for the most part, but I never worked before, so it's hard for them to determine if I am going to walk out in 9 months, and it's also hard for them to really gauge my performance in a working environment. ...It looks like the PS3 will come equipped with Linux on the hard drive, which is awesome, but most of it's "innovative" features are usually added to steal the thunder of other consoles. Wii had it's remote with motion sensing capabilities, then the PS3 quickly came out of nowhere and announced a SIXAXIS controller. It's the same stupid controller from the PS2 and the PS1, except that it is wireless, and it has a PlayStation button in the middle of the controller. In a sense they stole the wii's thunder, as they've been stealing ideas from Nintendo since the days of PS1.

i know how you feel about the whole graduating from college thing...graduating in a month, with new macbook in hand.

took me six months of hard thought but i'm getting my macbook with core 2 duo next weekend and for a cool 1278 with the student discount i'm still getting becuase i haven't graduated yet.

sorry about not being around lately, i've been busy with my term paper (bradykinins, peptide hormone) and i've been sick the past two days, so i'm going to make up some lost time today with some work, big presentation friday.

no, i don't know what i'm doing for a job, i'm not going into healthcare, i think most of it is a scam, and labwork is out (i think i said something about it back in april when it happened, sent a girl to the hospital).

and i've been against a salary cap for years in mlb, now i've changed my mind. i would like to see a salary cap of about 90-100 millon and a floor of about 40 million (floor first), and mostly becuase the yankees and red sox (no offense to their fans) have literally taken over baseball. it's like in a 30 minute show generally about baseball, yankees and red sox talk take up at least 1/2 of it (usually more) and it's to a point where mlb is dependent on those two making a move and their stars become the focal point of baseball, and the rest of the teams are regulated to second class. i know some people despise al baseball (i'm not a fan of it, i prefer nl baseball, no dh ever), but it's so irratting that when you talk baseball, every other sentence relates to those two teams. if there were a salary cap, i think we'll have alot less dependence on those two teams and prehaps have more of an nfl type coverage, where everyone expect the bottom tier teams (royals, devil rays, pirates) would be talked about on at least an occasional basis (hopefully regular). also the cap would cut down on these enormous contracts a bit and have more parity in that way in the hot stove.

ps3 i think is going to cause sony to be in a big mess and many predict this is their last consule becuase it's too expensive, not many excuslives, and blu ray i heard is losing the format wars (i hope both it and hd dvd lose, but that's another story). xbox 360 isn't priced too badly, but it's still a bit high for my taste (i've been playing video games ever since i can remember, in the late 80's). i'll probaly get a wii in the summer at the first price drop, don't care for it right now, but it should be an awesome system, i think it's going to win for it's cheap price (250 us, but that's a bit high compared to the old system launches). gameplay looks the most fun of the three, and of course, nintendo games are just fun to play. i don't want to play the same shooters over and over all the time, which is happening now in many parts of the gaming market, and it's not all about graphics (it helps, but if the gameplay is bad, don't expect much). i think wii needs to win, for everyone's sake that plays video games...

the awards are given out tomorrow. i think they are a fraud given by the assoicated press. these are the same people that gave usc that half championship a few years ago and vote based on favorism instead of really who should win it, and don't forget that whole dontrelle roy in 03, every other rookie award expect one went to posdenik (webb won one). i consider the players choice awards the real awards, as the players see who is the best players in their leagues more objecitly than the emotionally based media. so, ap, give your award to whoever you want, i don't care, ryan howard and jermaine dye are my mvps. and congrats to dan uggla for oustanding rookie for the marlins.

windows vista still looks like a mess of drm laden, ram sucking, resource hogging vaporware that catches viruses like it's 1999. windows xp has worked well for me, but with vista coming out and xp's obsoleteance upcoming, getting an xp computer seemed like a waste without vista (which i will not get). that's a major reason why i'm getting my mac. and yes, i think this is the last windows. it's done.

one more thing, vick isn't that good, he's just medicore at best.

one more thing...looking at some of my contacts, it seems like all my friends from high school are now unreachable...it's like they vanished and forgot all about me. another reason why i fear leaving college...i'll be stuck with no friends to talk to basically and trapped in the abyss which is the middle of nowhere. it's totally yucky. it's not that i don't need to be surrounded by people 24/7, it's just that i feel like i have no real friends (most people had childhood friends, i had none becuase nobody liked me and we moved too much). it's like we talk for a few years and that's it. i think mabye it's meant for me to have lots of short term friends, but i wish i had one of those buddies that was there forever (outside of family of course).

...And the PS3 fights of 2006 are under way. I've been reading about fistfights and cops being called to stores to break up customers before they kill each other over this. My God, we haven't seen this since X-box 360, and then before that with X-box, and before that with the PS2. At least people are consistent.

...Had to go to COMP-USA yesterday to look for something. I hardly go there because this store is located in a suburb of my town that I hate to go to. The biggest change I noticed about that store is the layout. Years ago they had aisles and aisles of software. They don't anymore. They do have some now, they just have them on a shelf in the back of the store. They really make you look for it. What they don't make you look for is the "Stereo Surround System" for the X-Box 360, which is on display right near where you come in. That can be yours for only $499. Even COMP-USA has turned their back on the PC user.

...In the I didn't know that department, which in my case is a very big department, I found out a pretty interesting tidbit about "A Christmas Carol." Do you know how before a movie starts they have those trivia things on the screen to pass time away before the show? Well they had one about this movie. It seems that since 1900, this story by Charles Dickens has been made into a movie over 30 times. Well, I thought it was interesting anyways.

...I am off this week from work for vacation. I was off last week because I was not feeling well. Tomorrow is a day I am not looking forward to because that's the day we get our Christmas shopping out of the way. Oh, the walking I am going to do tomorrow.

...That Ohio State and Michigan football game yesterday was everything it was built up to be. Over time that might prove to be one of college football's classic games of the decade.

...I think it is nice to read that the Yankees have an interest in bringing back Ted Lilly. I didn't want him to leave in 2002 because he was showing a lot of promise right before he got traded. I'd love to get him back instead of Andy Pettitte, who can stick his head in the Texas sand for all I care.

...It boggles the mind that a team like Boston can bid 51.1 million dollars just to talk to this Mataszuka guy and still with a straight face cry poverty to everyone. And what makes it worse, people in here and all over baseball fall for it.

...Going to go see Casino Royale over the Thanksgiving weekend. I've seen all the Bonds so I have to see this one. Early reviews say this is going to be another good one.

...I have a date for my knee surgery and it's January 9th. Never before has one person looked forward to going under the knife as I am.

...Went to our city's Santa Claus Parade last night. It was alot of fun. Took my son, and went with some friend and their children...

...Saw Casino Royale yesterday with some friends, great movie. Not too many gadgets in this one, but still very enjoyable. Best part of the movie has to be Bond driving up in a Ford. Classic moment for any Bond fan to see him in anything less than a Corvette.

...With the Turkey Holiday coming up, its time to start getting supplies. My Dad, Mom and I are all making a run to Costco and Safeway today to pick up all the essentials. Its always hard for my family to satisfy both sides because both sides live within a half hour from our house. Its always a struggle trying to make everyone happy. We'll just wait and fund out who gets mad at us this year...

...Uncle, Aunt, and cousins are coming down for Thanksgiving. The oldest of the kids is a fellow MVP lover, too bad he has it for XBOX.

...PS3 finally comes out. I hear its pretty good, but the 360 is better. Microsoft really beat Sony to the punch this time. The 360 was out first by about two months.

...Wii is almost ready for release. It looks pretty good actually. The new controller design is a very cool idea.

...One of my friends went off to Michigan for Thanksgiving last night. This morning she wakes me up to tell me that the guy sitting behind her fainted and was having convulsions before her plan took off from San Francisco. She, being the weird person that she is, freaks out and the whole plane is delayed. Now they're in Chicago waiting for another flight because they missed their connector. Hell of a day if you ask me.

...Went to a dance Friday night. Interesting little dit here, a man in his mid fifties walks in and slaps a few girls' asses. They scream, everyone freaks out, cops show up, man is arrested, everyone forgets about it. Luckily it was at a Teen Center dance downtown so there was someone there to stop the guy.

...Going to see Casino Royal with my girlfriend later, should be pretty fun. For the first time in a long time her and I finally get to do something without everyone else getting in the way. I hope I don't give away the movie...

-I have devised my 12-step plan, as I do every off season, to make the Mets a World Series team. I re-adjusted it though, to include Moises Alou.

-In short, the plan includes, signing Alou, and Zito (I can dream) and trading Milledge and a pitching prospect such as Humber, for a frontline starter.

-I rediscovered my love for Sonic with Sony's release of the Sega Arcade for PSP.

-What an amazing game yesterday between Michigan and Ohio St, and I am glad that Ohio St won, but sadly it was such a great game (as you can tell, I'm pushing for my Fighting Irish...)

-I don't know why, but I don't like Shannon Sharpe, he irritates me on the pregame shows.
