There is not an exact formula, but here is how I base attributes:

Hitting:

- hitting splits for 2005, three year splits when necessary

- hitter's reputation (has this guy done it again and again?)

- slugging percentage (what I mostly base power off of)

- HRs (if someone has a ton of HRs despite not much of a slug, he will still have much power)

- ABs and age. A 22 year old batting .300 for a month won't give him contact ratings like Manny + pals

- Hitting charts for the hitting thingy that is rarely filled out. :( (Even in UR)

- After all-star break stats for tweaking

- Probably more crap I'm forgetting

Defense:

- Reputation, reputation, reputation.

- Scouting reports, though sometimes they are full of crap

- FP% and RF, they don't provide a whole lot of information but I'll tweak accordingly

- My personal opinion on a player's defense

- Other stuff I'm forgetting

(It would be interesting if someone ever modded a roster to reflect defense based on the 'stats', but I guess they are hard to trust.)

Pitching:

- Ks, BBs, IP, WHIP

- Watching video, tons of video

- Going from what I remember

- Using a scouting report, if necessary

Update on generics for MPV MLB 2006:

Kraw sent me a PM saying that this is not going to be possible, getting other ords and orls to replace the generics.

New Generics for MVP 2006 is a project that is non existent now.

This means there won't be a need for portraits either.

SS, please use whatever you want to replace generics. I tried my best. I even had a great team to get this project rolling. Out of options-Mo
