Dances With Wolves... A Cleveland Indians Dynasty

I don't think Blake plays any first, and I am coming to the conclusion that instead of looking around I may just go to some home grown talent as I have 3 very talented and fast OF. One of them may be seeing a call up for alittle time here and there.

Fans were very excited for this one as they got to see hot prospect Fausto Carmona in a rubber match against the rival Tigers. Things started off badly for Carmona as he let up a run in the 1st and then a 3 run HR to Carlos Guillen in the 2nd. He rebounded nicely after that until he left the game with 2 runners on and no out in the 6th. By the end of the 6th the score was 5-2 in favor of the Tigers.

This is were the fun began - In the top of the 7th Jason Michaels came through big time with a 2 run HR to bring the score to 5-4. The Tigers looked like they were giving everything they could just to hold on, and the Indians' chances looked very good. But in the bottom of the 8th Magglio Ordonez hit an easy double play ball to Ron Bellaird, but Belliard first bobbled it, then went to 1st for one out, but his throw was off target. Both runners moved up a base. Dmitri Young hit a sacrifice fly and then Brandon Inge tripled to put the Tigers safely ahead 7-4. The Indians managed to score what should have been a tieing run in the 9th, but that isn't the way the cards played and the Indians left Detroit with almost nothing to show for the trip. Not to mention their star player gone for a week.

Clubhouse Talk:

Mench: "Errors always come back to haunt you, and sure enough we should have had a tie game in the 9th..."

Indian Hitting:

Michaels: 3/4, 2B, 2 HR, 2 RBI

Marte: 2/4, HR, RBI

Sabathia's Great Day Wasted by Indians, but Peralta Has The Last Laugh

W: Guillermo Mota (1-0) L: Mark Buehrle (5-6) S: Huston Street (7) This game had all the hype of 2 teams fighting for a lead in the AL Central, and it delivered on all stages. The first inning saw solo HR's by both teams in the form of Paul Konerko and Jhonny Peralta. Then the next 5 and a half innings were all about the clubs aces. Both C.C. Sabathia and Mark Buehrle pitched scoreless innings after the 1st, up until the bottom of the 7th. This is where the excitement really picked up for both sides. The Indians jumped on a few lazy pitchs by a tired Mark Beuhrle and scored 3 runs on doubles by Martinez, Michaels, and Blake. The White Sox rebounded in the 8th to match with 3 runs thanks to a 2 run HR by Jermaine Dye and then followed by a solo shot by Paul Konerko. Fans were on their feet and Jacobs field with the game tied at 4 going into the bottom of the 8th. Ron Belliard led off the inning with a single up the middle which paved the way for Jhonny Peralta to come through. The talk of Peralta struggling definatly disappeared tonight as he hit his 2nd home run of the night, a key 2 run bomb to left field that brought the Indians ahead for good. The night was capped off by Huston Street striking out the side in the 9th to get his 7th save of the year. Clubhouse Talk: Peralta: "It's always nice to have a great game like that, but its especially nice when your playing a team like the White Sox." Rainy Day Thoughts...

Coach Mench's Thoughts...

Ron Belliard (2B): Ronnie has been solid both in the field and at the plate. While he did have one costly mental error that might have cost us a game against the Tigers, his fielding has been very solid and he makes some great plays in the field. His hitting is hovering over .300 all year long and he is having a breakout year the plate.

Jhonny Peralta (SS): Peralta started the season off cold, but since Hafner has been out, Jhonny has stepped up big. He now has two multi-Home Run games this year and is finally showing the power we know he has.

Ben Broussard (1B): Depsite his 2 homers in the past week or so, Ben has been struggling all year long. His average is at an alltime low, and we are looking for other options at the First base corner position.

Jason Michaels (LF): Michaels has been taking the 7th spot in the order with style, besides not bickering about it, he has been one of our main offensive tools the past few weeks. He is 2nd on the team now with 11 home runs and 29 RBI's. The Indians are flirting with bringing him back up to a 2 spot.

Casey Blake (RF): Blake has remained hot at the plate, with an average constantly over .300 - The main concern is his focus and aggresiveness in the field. He has made his fair share of not only errors, but bonehead plays that have cost us big.

Adam Miller (SP): Adam finally came around to get his first win of the year, which was a beautiful 3 hitter. Then before we could see if it was a fluke, he runs away to the 15-day DL. We are confident in this kid and he has all the confidence and swagger to be a big somebody for us in the near future.

#Huston Street (RP): Huston Street has jumped into our closer role with his aggressive and exciting style of play. He hasn't blown a save for us yet, and has his fair share of strikeouts - Once even striking out the whole side to pick up the save. The trade with Oakland is turning out great for us, as Street is proving to be more than just a 'risk.'

I might move Blake to 3rd - Marte is definatly gonna be good soon, and is alright at the plate now, but he hurts me in the field with like 8 errors or something close to that.

At the moment though, I am winning and in 1st place so I don't want to change much yet.

Mench's Thoughts on the Series... We played awful, plain and simple. Coming off of a key series with the Sox and in first place I expected better. We couldn't even hit the ball, I will give Ervin Santana credit for Game 1 as he was throwing great, but the other games were rediculous. I don't know what happened, but all I know is that we have a lot of work to do before Oakland comes here on Monday.

Injury Update: Travis Hafner will be activated from the 15-day DL and will start on Monday against Oakland in the DH spot.

I might change the format of my recap games to something similar to what is on MLB after games. Dunit uses something similar on his dynasty and I originally was going to do that, but thought it would be do much time. But I now think it would be quicker to do so, and it looks better. I would do that, with a few pictures, and then a link to the boxscore for my recap games. Then I would do what I have been doing for simmed games.

What do you think?

I will try to get a few more games in tonight between the packing. But I am going away tomorrow morning for a week. I will be back Saturday July 1st.

The dynasty is not dead, or will not be dead, I am just going away for a week. Please keep this somewhat bumped up on the first page and make sure people know it isn't dead.

Mench's Thoughts on the Sweep... "It always feels good to sweep a series, but it feels even better when you sweep your rival at their place. Everyone on the team contributed to each win in one way or another - We had guys off the bench who came up big [Kelly Shoppach] and we had pitchers who stepped up big. I hope we can continue to ride this excitement into New York next week."

Yea and everyone can thank dunit and tommyjay for the main layouts. They let me take theirs and make it my own, so thanks guys.

Anyone have feedback on it? Like it, hate it, etc?

And Dunit - I am going away for a week and am finishing up packing and stuff, so I don't really have time to mess with it at the moment. Maybe when I get back I can give you a PM or we can talk on aim (stellar2130) - So whenever I get back I'll get at you somehow and maybe you can help me a bit. Thanks.
