Most influential, yes. Best? No. The fact that Ice Cube wrote 90% of his lyrics automatically removes him from any best rappers list.

And everyone knows the best diss track is Hit 'em Up, closely followed by South Bronx. Front and get laughed at.

bets diss track should be mm"THe Bridge is Over "..nuff said

I was listening to Speakerboxxx again today and it is definatly one of the best albums ever, if not the best.
Are you talking about both CDs, or just Big Boi's half? Together it's one of the best rap CDs of all time, but I give a little edge to The love Below over Speakerboxx.

I seriously can't believe no one mentioned Talib Kweli. The Beautiful Struggle is amazing. Props to whoever said Weerd Science, they're so good.

Other albums that are good:

A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory

Qwel - The Harvest (until he gets all preachy)

Kanye West - The College Dropout (IMO this album is to rap what Bitches' Brew was to jazz)

Mos Def - Everything he's done

Two Illeven - Ounce Of Game, U.D.I. - Unda Da Influence, Lowdown - The DIrty Dozen, Dre Dog - I hate you with a passion, Mac Dre - Stoopid Doo Doo Dumb, The Rompalation vol 1, Tech N9ne - Anghellic... There's a whole bunch, too many to name. Old E-40 stuff is hella sick too, Like In A Major Way and Breakin News.

My first rendezvous with Rap music was Public Enemy-Apocalypse '91 way back in the early 90's and it was love at the first sight. I couldn't hardly understand the lyrics but Chuck D's and Flava's energy and passion on the mic knocked me right off my feet.

These guys told me to voice my anger and stand up against the subtle racism and discrimination I was expiriencing because of my immigrant background. They opened up my eyes and touched my soul, that's why i still get goosebumps when i listen to "Apocalypse '91" or "Fear of a black planet".

It's a shame that they have disappeard from the game and don't get the recognition they deserve...
