I don't think I've ever faced Mussina.. oddly enough before that time. The next task is to face Wang who I have had success against. The only thing is I struggle to hit off him when he's coming from the windup because he's so slow with the delivery but then the ball is just there, I hit much better against him from the stretch.

I haven't played any games the past couple of days because I installed some corrupt unis fixes for the Jays.. the guy who made them is fixing them still so I'm waiting for that. He's quite busy with other things the past couple of days though and hasn't fixed them yet.

man...bad luck against Mussina...

i'm the same way against Wang though - that slow windup drives me nuts. but once he gets in the stretch i can usually get some good contact.

Breakdown of Team Performance in April

Starting Lineup:

#1 Frank Catalanotto (LF):

18 G, 69 AB, 18 H, .261 AVG, 2 HR, 4 2B, 6 RBI

Catalanotto got off to a good start but like many of the Jays hitters, he struggled in the final week of the month. His average dropped all the way from around .320 to .261 in that span. He's done a decent job in the lead off spot so far but is not really a lead off hitter.

#2 Alex Rios (RF):

23 G, 96 AB, 22 H, .240 AVG, 1 HR, 3 2B, 6 RBI

Like Catalanotto, he got off to a hot start but really tappered off. A lot was expected of him going into this season as it was meant to be his break out year, after him emerging as an everyday player in 2005, despite his lack of power for a corner outfielder. He had big expectations based on his overall talent and hasn't lived up to them yet.

#3 Vernon Wells (CF):

23 G, 95 AB, 22 H, .232 AVG, 1 2B, 5 HR, 9 RBI

Wells has had a decent start to the season, although his average is quite low and he hasn't had many extra-base hits. He is tied for the team lead with five homers in the month of April. His defense has been spectacular in the centerfield, which is expected.

#4 Troy Glaus (3B):

23 G, 86 AB, 19 H, .212 AVG, 0 2B, 4 HR, 7 RBI

Glaus' average has hovered around .200 all month and he has failed to hit for much contact. He's even spent some time at short and could start some games there in the future. He is a natural shortstop but was moved to third due his size and power. He's been fairly solid at third so far though.

#5 Lyle Overbay (1B):

22 G, 81 AB, 23 H, .286, 5 HR, 3 2B, 11 RBI

Overbay led the team in RBI with 11 and was tied for the team lead in homers with Vernon Wells at 5. He had a really hot week in the third week of the season, hitting 4 of those home runs and 7 of his RBI. He led the regular players in batting average during the month of April as well.

#6 Shea Hillenbrand (DH):

23 G, 83 AB, 21 H, .253 AVG, 4 HR, 3 2B, 8 RBI

Hillenbrand had a decent start to the season as the DH and played a few games at third as well. His 4 homers are tied for third on the team with Glaus.

#7 Bengie Molina ©:

18 G, 60 AB, 11 H, .183 AVG, 0 HR, 0 2B, 2 RBI

Molina had a very rough start and scouts blame that on his conditioning prior to the season. He does not have an extra base hit and has been a mess behind the plate, only throwing out one of 10 base stealers. As the month went on, he slowly lost playing time to Gregg Zaun and was placed on the trading block. If he continues to struggle, he could be potentionally move and emergency third stringer Jason Phillips called up from AAA to take his place.

#8 Aaron Hill (SS):

22 G, 73 AB, 14 H, .192 AVG, 0 HR, 5 2B, 4 RBI

Hill got off to a better start than his numbers show but he really fell off in the last two weeks of April. He started the season at second base and moved to short to take advantage of his stronger arm than Russ Adams'. Neither him, nor Adams is hitting very well but they have been good defensively.

#9 Russ Adams (2B):

23 G, 66 AB, 14 H, .212 AVG, 0 HR, 5 2B, 4 RBI

Adams' numbers are very similar to Hill's except that he has had less at-bats and produced the same results which makes it look like he had a better month. Adams hasn't played much against left-handers which is the reason for his less at-bats.

Bench:

Eric Hinske (3B/1B/RF/DH):

14 G, 15 AB, 5 H, .333 AVG, 1 HR, 3 2B, 2 RBI

Hinske hasn't played much but has done well in limited duty. With the late injury to Aaron Hill and the struggles of some of the others players in the lineup, he is expected to see more playing time in May. He is a good left-handed bat on the bench but has proven in previous years that he can't kept up a good level of consistency with everyday playing time.

Reed Johnson (LF/OF):

17 G, 28 AB, 8 H, .286 AVG, 0 HR, 3 2B, 1 RBI

Johnson has played a similar role to the one he's played the past few years, as the 4th outfield who platoons with Catalanotto in LF. He's produced well in limited duty and comes off the bench as a good right-handed bat.

Gregg Zaun ©:

11 G, 27 AB, 7 H, .259 AVG, 1 2B, 0 HR, 0 RBI

Zaun coming into this season thought that he had won the starting job, but a late signing of Bengie Molina cost him that. He hasn't played much this month but has produced much better than Molina and will likely see more playing time in May with Molina's struggles.

John McDonald (SS):

12 G, 14 AB, 2 H, .143 AVG, 0 HR, 0 RBI

McDonald has done what was expected of him this season, as a defensive infield sub. He can't hit and that was not really expected of him going into the season.

Rotation:

#1 Roy Halladay (RH)

5 GS, 1-3, 3.74 ERA, CG, 20 K, 3 BB, 33.2 IP, OBA .260

Halladay had a better start than his record shows. He has had an very good strikeout-to-walk ratio and the team has not scored a lot of runs in support of him in his starts. Out of his five starts, he only allowed more than three runs in one of them.

#2 A.J. Burnett (RH)

5 GS, 1-3, 2.92 ERA, CG, 23 K, 8 BB, 37 IP, OBA .206

Burnett led the starting staff in innings pitched with 37 and strikeouts with 23. Like Halladay, he has not had much run support in his starts.

#3 Ted Lilly (LH)

5 GS, 2-1, 2.76 ERA, 19 K, 4 BB, 32.2 IP, OBA .258

Lilly had a good month and led the starting staff in ERA.

#4 Josh Towers (RH)

4 GS, 1-1, 4.56 ERA, 6 K, 4 BB, 23.2 IP, OBA .250

Towers had a rough start to the season and was roughed up twice which is the reason for his inflated ERA. He has struck out very few batters but hasn't walked many either.

#5 Gustavo Chacin (LH)

4 GS, 1-3, 3.12 ERA, 11 K, 3 BB, 26 IP, OBA .288

Despite having a high opponent batting average, he has not given up a large amount of extra base hits. Many of his hits allowed are singles which is the reason for his quite low ERA. Like last year, however, he has not struck out many batters due to his lack of great stuff but he keeps them off-balance with his cutter and off-speed stuff.

Bullpen:

#1 B.J. Ryan (CP)

9 APP, NR, 0.93 ERA, 9.2 IP, 6 SV, 11 K, 0 BB, OBA .147

Ryan had a rough outing in his first appearance but has settled down since and was outstanding in his next 8. He has done a great job striking out 11 in 9 2/3 innings.

#2 Justin Speier (SU)

13 APP, 1-1, 7.88 ERA, 8 IP, 3 K, 2 BB, OBA .500

Speier has had a rough start giving up a lot of hits in his outings. He has done a lot better of late though. He's had 3 bad outings out of his 13 appearances which inflated his ERA.

#3 Scott Schoenewies (LH SU)

15 APP, 1-0, 5.68 ERA, 6.1 IP, 4 K, 0 BB, OBA .320

Schoeneweis had a few rough outings but being a lefty specialist, he usually faces one or two batters and Speier usually Speier followed him or Jason Frasor. Neither of them have done well this season picking him and have allowed many of those runs to score.

#4 Francisco Rosario (RH MR)

9 APP, 1-0, 1.69 ERA, 10.2 IP, 8 K, 2 BB, OBA .205

Rosario has been one of my best relievers since making the team out of spring training. He's almost had a strikeout per inning and hasn't walked many guys or been hit hard very often.

#5 Pete Walker (RH MR)

6 APP, 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 8.2 IP, 2 K, 1 BB, OBA .133

He's been a very reliable middle reliver, bridging the gap between starter and setup. He's also held the games close when the starter was roughed up on quite a few occassions.

#6 Brandon League (RH MR)

4 APP, NR, 0.00 ERA, 4.1 IP, 2 K, 0 BB, OBA .250

League has done a good job in limited duty since being recalled from AAA mid-month.

#7 Brian Tallet (LH MR)

1 APP, NR, 0.00 ERA, 0.1 IP, 0 K, 0 BB, OBA .000

Tallet has only made one appearance since being recalled early in the last week of April so I can't really judge his performance based on that.

Guys now in AAA:

Scott Downs (LH LR)

4 APP, NR, 10.13 ERA, 2.2 IP, 2 K, BB

Downs got roughed up in one appearance against the White Sox and got sent down to AAA. His command has been eraditic which lead to the demotion.

Jason Frasor (RH MR)

I don't have his numbers but his ERA was around 8 in about 5 apperances. His command was way off and was struggling in the pen.

After my constant struggles to get offense with RodData's datafile I'm going to try Jim825's combo datafile for my next game and see how it goes

Ron's datafiles are meant mostly for cpu vs cpu, they don't translate that well for human vs cpu. Good luck with a new datafile, should be better
