Die hard Cubbie here. I will be keeping up with this man. Give us something to cheer about.

I was going to start a Cubs dynasty here, but they have just left a bad taste in my mouth this year. I'm going to start a Washington Nationals one and try and turn them around.

Good luck.

Webb outduels Zambrano in thriller!

The Chicago Cubs started off their season on the wrong foot Friday night as they fell to the new look Arizona Diamondbacks. Their manager Dusty Baker was frustrated after the game.

"We can't go all season like this," said the angry Baker in the locker-room. "The Chicago media does not allow us to go scoreless to the D-Backs. We need hitting, and quick."

The obvisously frustrated Baker had little to be happy about as Brandon Webb went all 9 innings, striking out six in the process. The Diamondbacks did suffer a blow Friday though, loosing their All-Star leftfielder Luis Gonzalez for 33 days with a fractured hand.

"Its just a freak thing ya know. Hopefully I can bounce back and help this team get to the playoffs."

The Cubs Carlos Zambrano gave up the lone Diamondback run on a Jeff Davanon RBI single to score Craig Counsell.

Game 2 Saturday features the Cubs Mark Prior against the D-Backs Juan Cruz.

Cubs trade Kerry Wood to Texas for Michael Young!

You could feel the tension inside the Cubs front office meeting room as Cubs GM Jim Hendry talked to Texas GM Jon Daniels. The room erupted in cheers as Daniels accepted the trade that would send Wood to Texas, and bring Young to Chicago.

"I feel this is a really good trade for both sides," said Hendry. "Hopefully this can be the first piece of the puzzle, which is the 2006 World Series."

Manager Dusty Baker received the call later that day, and had mixed emotions about the trade.

"Young is a great player obvisously," said Baker. "But I am kinda worried about the pressure this will put on our young pitching staff."

Glendon Rusch will take Wood's spot in the rotation while Michael Young will replace Todd Walker at 2B. This is strictly a defensive move as SS Ronny Cedeno is a much better defensive player.

Prior turns in magical performance

In Game 2 of this three game series, the Chicago Cubs defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-0. Recent acquisition Michael Young went 2-4 with a double and a single.

"It feels good to go out there and have immediate success," said Young. "To know the history this franchise has had and hopefully help this team win a World Series."

Mark Prior was an even bigger story as his 4 hit shutout of the D-Backs gave him his first win of the season.

"The past couple of seasons have been a real disappointment," said Prior. "I want to go out there and prove everybody that I can help the Cubs go to the postseason and beyond."

The Cubs scored three runs in the top of the 4th on consectutive RBI doubles by Michael Young and Derrek Lee.

Chicago faces Arizona Sunday in the rubber match of the 3 game series.

No, I didn't take it as a competion.

Besides, my graphics are on low, because of the machine.

So the pics won't be that great, haha.

You already got me beat with the photo editing and that banner.

I can't do that, I don't know how... sounds bad, but it's true.

Good luck man.

Looks like a pretty good dynasty. I like the trade for Young. The Cbs offense needs mor ehelp than the pitching. Hopefully, you can keep them healthy. Good luck man.!

Cubs slug their way to victory

The Chicago Cubs had little trouble scoring Monday as they trampled the Arizona Diamonbacks starter Claudio Vargas for 6 runs as Cubs pitcher Greg Maddox picked up the win.

"Today, most of my pitches weren't going were I wanted," said Maddox. "But thanks to our offense that wasn't a problem."

The bats came alive as back to back homeruns by Jacque Jones and Michael Barrett gave the Cubs the early lead. Juan Pierre had an RBI in the 6th to extend the lead.

Cubs Manager Dusty Baker was particuarly happy with the Cubs middle relief.

"Williamson and Eyre did a great job," said Baker. "I couldn't ask more from those guys. The key will just to be keeping them healthy."

Ryan Dempster picked up his seasons first save with his perfect 9th.

Cubs offense relies on stellar pitching from Miller

The Chicago Cubs offense was just enough to squeak by the power hitting Milwaukee Brewers Friday. Wade Miller gave the Cubs fans something to cheer about in the seasons home opener.

"I just went out there and didn't try to do to much," said Miller. He went 6 innings, before handing the ball off to the bullpen. "It gives you extra confidence when you know the bullpen can get the job done."

The Cubs offense consisted Friday of lots of small ball. Juan Pierre stealing bases, sac bunts, and station to station baseball.

"These are the best kind of wins," said Cubs GM Jim Hendry. "If we can win games like this, we won't have trouble winning when the bats stay consistent."

Michael Young added with his team leading 2nd double of the year as the Cubs improved to 3-1.

Cubs hold on in 9th to take 4th straight

Ryan Dempster entered Saturday's game with new found confidence. Fresh off his first save of 2006, he was ready to shut down the Brewers bats. But thanks to Brady Clark and the rest of the Brew Crew, that almost didn't happen.

"I left that fastball a little up," said Dempster at his locker after giving up the bomb. "Thats what happens when you try to make that perfect pitch with two strikes."

Brady Clark homered in the 9th and then the Brewers got two more runners on base before turning a game ending double play.

The Cubs took the lead in the 7th off a Juan Pierre two-run HR. At this point starter Mark Prior was already pulled. Bobby Howry came in to get the win while starter Dave Bush got the loss.

Cedeno's big hit leads Cubs

Brewers starter Zach Jackson had no idea what was in store for him as he took the mound Sunday. The Chicago Cubs lineup jumped on him early, scoring just enough to give their pitching confidence.

"One reason I believe that were winning right now is because the pitching staff does not have to worry about how many runs they can give up," said Cubs Manager Dusty Baker. "Emotional guys like Zambrano have to have full confidence when they take the hill."

Ronny Cedeno came through when he was needed most Sunday, showing off his bat and his wheels on a two RBI triple. Zambrano followed with a sac fly to score Cedeno.

"It feels good to see the crowd react that way," said Cedeno. "They haven't had to much to cheer about the past few years. Hopefully we can change that this year."

Carlos Zambrano went 8 innings strong, striking out 7 Milwaukee Brewers on route to his 1st win of the year. Lefthanded reliever Scott Eyre came through in the clutch, retiring 3 straight lefty Brewers batters to pick up the save.

Cubs win in extras!!

The Chicago Cubs won in typical Cubs fashion, one a walkoff homerun in the bottom of the 10th. Derrek Lee was the one who hit it deep into the right-center bleachers.

"It was a bomb, no doubt about that," said Padres MRP Alan Embree. Embree gave up the HR after getting two straight outs.

The Padres scored early off of a two run hr by Brian Giles in the 4th. Matt Murton tied up the game with his 7th inning two run blast to tie the game. It set the stage for Derrek Lee in the 10th.

Cubs reliever got the win after pitching a perfect 9th and 10th. Embree got the loss. Final 3-2.

does anybody have any suggestions on how i would do a box score from a non-modded xbox? i would love to bring that aspect into this dynasty. i was thinking maybe just do a photoshopped box score with key players from that game. what does everybody think?

Young gets first homer as Cub!

Cubs second baseman Michael Young got a big monkey off his back Tuesday as he homered in his first at-bat on route to a 3-4 showing. Young commented on his nice day at the plate.

"Saw the ball good out there today. Hopefully we can keep this rolling and string together some more wins."

Young's homer barely cleared the netting in right field, stirring up some controversy from Padres Manager Bruce Bochy came out to argue.

"Sure didn't look like it got out from where I was sitting," said Bochy. "Ump might wanta get his eyes checked or somthin."

Greg Maddox got his second win of the season while Chris Young took the loss. He pitched well, but his teams lack of hitting killed him. Ryan Dempster got the save.
