Game recap:

It was a tough day for both starters, as both Britton and Nova went just 2.1 innings. The Yanks scored first, thanks to a double by Swisher and 2-run HR by Posada. But the O's were all over Nova in the 2nd, Hardy got a 2 RBI single to tie it, Markakis made it 4-2 with a 2 RBI double and Scott made it 5-2 with another RBI single. But the Yanks scored 2 more in the 3rd, thanks to RBI singles by Cano and Swisher. Nova got just one out in the 3rd and he was removed from the game after 2.1 innings: he gave up 10 hits and 5 runs. Silva came in to pitch, and he got the final 2 outs of the inning without givin up any runs. In the 4th the Yankees took the lead: Jeter got a lead off walk and Granderson hit a 2-run Home run to make it 6-5. In the 6th the O's bullpen imploded: Tillman loaded the bases and gave up a RBI single to Teixeira and with Gregg on the mound, A-rod hit a grand slam to make it 11-5. Silva went 5.2 shutout innings, getting the win and Chamberlain got the final 3 outs. The Yankees won 12-5.

Garcia pitched well, but again, he couldn't get the win: the O's managed to comeback and win it thanks to the Yankees errors. The Yanks scored first, thanks to a sac fly by Gardner, but the O's tied with a RBI single by Markakis. In the 4th, the Yanks scored 2 thanks to a RBI ground out by Posada and a single by Gardner. Guthrie went 4 innings, gave up 6 hits, 3 runs and 3 walks. In the 5th, Scott made it 3-2 with a single. Garcia went 6.2 innings, gave up 7 hits, 2 earned runs and 3 walks. The O's came back scoring 1 run in the 8th thanks to a RBI single by Lee, and tied it in the 9th with a RBI single. in the 11th, with the bases loaded, Vlad Guerrero hit a grounder to Texeira, who got the out at home, but then Cervelli threw the potential out no.3 in the outfield. The O's won and snapped a 5-game losing streak. "That's a tough game to lose, especially because of how it ended, and because Garcia deserved the win but we couldn't hold the lead" said Girardi.

CC was on a roll today as he tossed a complete game, and thanks to Cano he managed to get the win as well.The Yanks scored in the 1st inning thanks to a triple by A-rod and a RBI single by Teixeira. Arrieta was great as well, as he went 5 innings, giving up 3 hits and 1 run. The O's tied the game thanks to a RBI single by Guerrero. But the Yanks broke the tie in the 8th, as Jeter got a walk, Granderson hit a single and A-rod was hit by a pitch to load the bases. And with 1 out and the bases loaded, Cano hit a big grand slam home run that gave the Yanks the lead. Sabathia got the win, as he went 9 innings, gave up 7 hits, 1 run, no walks and struck out 4.

Both pitchers were outstanding today: the problem is, that the White Sox bullpen was far from outstanding. Buehrle went 5.1 innings, as he gave up 2 hits, 3 runs and 4 walks. In the 6th, he left the bases loaded as Sale came in, and the Yankees took a big lead. Cano got RBI single, followed by a bases loaded walk allowed to swisher and a 2 RBI single by Posada. Cervelli drove in one more and Granderson made the score 6-0 with another single. Teixeira was then walked with the bases loaded to make it 7-0. The Yankees added one run in the 7th. Pettitte went 7.2 innings, gave up 12 hits, 3 runs and struck out 9 to earn his second win of the season. "it was a great pitching performance from him: The White Sox are a good team, and you're going to give up runs against them, but he kept us close and thanks to him we won the game." said Girardi.

it was a long day for both bullpens as both Burnett and Jackson didn't get past the 3rd inning. The White Sox score first with a RBI single in the 1st inning and Dunn made it 4-0 with a 3-run HR. Burnett went only 2.2 innings, allowing 8 hits and 4 runs. The Yanks scored in the 3rd inning as Swisher hit a RBI single and Jackson was removed after 2.2 innings, giving up 1 hit, 1 run (unearned), 5 walks. The Yanks scored 2 more runs in the 4th thanks to a RBI single and a sac fly by Swisher. The White Sox made it 5-3 with a RBI single by Beckham. But the Yanks came back in the 8th: Jeter hit a leadoff double and A-Rod tied it with a 2-run HR. With the game tied, Konerko hit a RBI single in the 9th, but the Yanks didn't give up and tied the game with another RBI single. Nova finally got his first win of 2011, thanks to his pitching performance and thanks to Teixeira 5 RBIs. The White Sox scored first in the 2nd with a solo shot by Carlos Quentin, but the Yankees tied the game in the 3rd, as Cervelli walked and was moved over to 2nd thanks to a sac bunt by Gardner: Jeter then hit a RBI single to tie it. In the 4th the Yanks got the lead with a solo HR by Swisher. in the 5th the Yanks kept rolling, as Tex got a bases loaded 2 RBI single. Floyd was removed from the game after 4.2 innings, as he gave up 6 hits, 4 runs, 3 walks and struck out 7. Nova kept rolling until the 7th, when he gave up a solo homer to Castro, and was removed from the game after giving up back-to-back hits. He went 6.2 innings, gave up 7 hits, 2 runs and struck out 7 to get win no.1 of the season. The Yanks scored again thanks to a 3-run bomb from Mark Teixeira, the first he has hit since April 13th. In the 9th, Castro hit another HR, but Soriano retired the next 3 hitters to end the game. "Ivan was outstanding today. He has great stuff, sometimes he struggles because he needs to locate his pitches better, but the stuff is there" said Girardi.

Peavy was lights out as he managed to hold the Yankees to just 4 hits and 1 run. On the other side, Garcia struggled against his former team. The White Sox score 4 runs in the 4th, thanks to a 2 RBI double by Morel, a RBI double by Harris and RBI single by Pierzynski. Garcia went just 4 innings, gave up 9 hits and 4 runs. He got the loss. The Yanks scored for the first time against Peavy thanks to a couple of base hits by Jeter and A-Rod, and then with men at the corners, Teixeira hit into a fielder's choice, that score a run. In the 7th, the Yanks score again thanks to a couple White Sox defensive errors. Swisher got on with a walk, Gardner got a 2-out base hit thanks to a bunt, and advanced to 2nd thanks to a throwing error by Sale. Jeter then hit an easy ground ball to Morel, who threw the ball offline allowing Swisher to score, a RBI single by Granderson then made it 4-3. But the Yanks couldn't come back in the 9th, with the tying and winning run at 1st and 2nd as Granderson struck out to end the game.

Sabathia wasn't at his best today, but the Yankees bats were on a roll as 6 runs were scored in the 5th inning. The Yanks scored 2 runs in the 1st thanks to a couple of RBI singles by Teixeira and Posada. The Blue Jays cut the lead to half thanks to a solo HR by Encarnacion, and they got the lead thanks to another HR by Encarnacion. But in the 5th, the Jays imploded: Morrow couldn't get any out as he gave up a 2 RBI single to Swisher, and the bullpen wasn't any better: Cervelli was walked with the bases loaded to force in a run, Gardner drove in 1 with a single, Jeter was walked once again with the bases loaded and Granderson RBI single made it 8-3. Morrow went 4 innings, allowed 5 hits, 4 runs, 6 walks and earned the loss. in the 7th, after giving up a solo HR to Snider, Sabathia was removed from the game: he went 6.1 innings, gave up 8 hits, 4 runs and struck out 8, a good enough performance to earn him the win. The Jays managed to score a couple of runs against the Yankees, but just couldn't comeback as Rivera pitched a scoreless 9th to earn save no.7 of the season.

Andy Pettitte was devastating on the mound today, as he tossed a complete game shutout to earn win no.3 of the season. The Yanks got the lead early thanks to a solo shot by Granderson in the first, and in the 4th scored 2 more thanks to a RBI double by Gardner. Jays starter Shawn Camp went just 3.1 innings, gave up 3 hits, 3 runs and 4 walks. But the Yanks weren't done yet: in the 5th, Alex Rodriguez, 2-for-12 in the last 3 games, hit a 2-run HR that made it 5-0. And in the 6th, Jorge Posada hit a lead off HR to make it 6-0.
