If you're using a PS2 pad like I think you are, make sure the red analog light on the controller is on. Sometimes my PS2 pad won't work properly with it off. Your controller conf. looks fine. The only difference between your's and mine is the line "number_of_povs= 1". If my first solution doesn't work try changing the line to "number_of_povs= 0"

I have my controller working by registering with with the logitech method but the Start Button isn't where it should be on my Playstation controller. Its on the left Analog (L3 Button) instead of the actual Start Button. I tried to change it but it would not do it in the game. I have a Yobo Gameware USB Playstation/Playstation 2 Adapter if that will help to know what it is. If someone could lend a hand to fix the problem that would be great, Thank You. Cg 29

I had the same thing happen to me. The only way I know how to fix it is by not using the "Logitech method". Try The Ea way. The start button still won't match up but it will be mapped to the "select" button instead.

Hey Guys, thanks a lot for your help i got the controller working with the start on the select and it it much better thanks again. I have a couple more questions if you don't mind. My R3 Axis only goes up and down is it suppose to go left to right as well? If so how do I make it do that? When I went to test the controller in the control panel it said it only went up and down so I don't know what to do about that. last question, can you do a combination of buttons to equal one thing? For example Button 1 + Button 2 together would be view bullpen? If it would work tell me how I would have to do it in the cfg.file thig. Thank you again for all your help.

I use an xbox controller with a home made USB adapter

here are some instructions

Introduction

Around a year ago I picked up two generic Xbox compatible controllers for about $2. They were new in box, and although I didn't own an Xbox (and still don't), I knew I had to grab a couple. :)

After collecting dust since last summer, I finally dug one out today decided it would be fun to have on my PC. The only gamepad I have for my computer is some Gravis pad from probably 6 years ago. The Xbox pads are made by PowerPad Colors, but they feel reasonably sturdy, and have rumble and two swivel caps, which is more than most reasonably priced PC gamepads have.

Fortunately for us, the Xbox controller has a USB interface, so it's only a matter of splicing a male USB adapter on in place of the funky Xbox one. So, this should be a simple hack. The following materials will get the job done.

5e-xboxcm_01.jpg

Materials

XBOX Compatible Game Controller

Male USB Adapter Cable

Wire strippers (and/or scissors, if you must)

Electrical tape and/or heatshrink

The Mod

You can see that I'm using a Male-Female USB extension cable for my male USB adapter. We're just going to chop the adapter off and discard of the cable.

63-xboxcm_02.jpg

Make sure you use the right end (circled in the above picture). We're going to do the same thing to the Xbox cable, too

34-xboxcm_03.jpg

Cut the Xbox adapter off right at the base, leaving yourself some room to splice on the new one. Cut the USB adapter off at least 4 or 5 inches away from the adapter. Now strip off about an inch of casing from the end of each exposed cable that we'll be connecting. There will be a lot of thin silver wires and foil wrapped around a few smaller, colored wires. The silver casing is the shielding, but unless you want to try and preserve it just cut it away to expose the colored wires.

Using your wire strippers, pull away the casing on each of the colored wires to expose the bare wire. Now you can proceed to actually splice the wires togteher.

Each wire of the USB adapter should match up to a colored wire on the gamepad. The Xbox controller has one additional yellow wire, which you can just ignore. You can use either heatshrink casing or electrical tape to cover up the bare leads. Heatshrink is more permanent and professional, but for simplicity I just used some electrical tape on each of the smaller wires, then wrapped up the entire thing tightly, making sure the bare leads did not cross.

You can see the ghetto-fabulous mod I've done above. The cable shown here detaches from the Xbox controller, which is why you don't see it actually leading to anything. :) Feel free to be as fancy as you want - some heatshrink will look nice and hold up better, so now that I know it works I'll probably redo the mod when I get to the second controller.

If everything went well, we should be able to set up the device and start using it. The first thing to do is snag the XBCD drivers, and run the installer file.

Once the drivers are installed, plug in the controller and it should detect and install the drivers for "XBCD XBox Gamepad". Now go to Programs -> XBCD -> Setup Utility and set up your new gamepad!

And that's it! Not bad for a ten minute mod. Enjoy.

that is the end of the stolen intructions

Here are the drivers I'm using http://www.mindwarped.com/xbox/XBCDv057.exe

You might be able to get newer drivers from

http://redcl0ud.hostrocket.com/xbcd.html

BUT the Config file posted below will not work with a newer version

once the drivers are installed and the controller is recognized do the regedit trick

1. Open Regedit (Start>Run>regedit)

2. Make your way to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet001ControlMediaPropertiesPrivateProp erties JoystickOEM

3. You'll see a bunch of entries like VID_045E&PID_000XXXX and when you click on it, it should have the name of a controller in the right pane

4. For me, it was the last entry. Keep going down the list until the controller that has the same name in your Controller is shown on the right window.

5. Delete the description for that window on the right window and rename it to Logitech Dual Action.

Once that is done go to the Contoller options

start -> settings -> control panel -> Game Contollers -> Properties

The select load and load this file

http://www.mindwarped.com/xbox/mvp-xbox-co...er-settings.rar

(don't be dumb it is INSIDE the RAR file, uncompress it and load the mvp.xgp file inside the RAR achive

Now place the is file http://www.mindwarped.com/xbox/controller-cfg.rar in your MVP Baseball 2004 directory (once again DECOMPRESS the rar file and place the controller.cfg in the MVP Baseball 2004 which is inside the My Documents directory)

BTW

you have other options you can buy an adapter instead of making one

I did Radio Shack and hooked up my XBOX S Contoller and it works fine. Two questions though:

1. What is the dugout-bullpen called so I can give it a button. I looked in the .cfg and the in game model and can't find it. In the XBOX version of MVP it is the white button.

2. My rumble is much lighter in the PC version. When I go to controllers it seems like it's all or notheing, any help?

1. Click the Right Analog in. That should bring up the pause menu. Or, you can click the Left Analog in. That gives you a couple different options. Remember...clicking Right Analog in accepts your selection.

2. My rumble is the same way. Not a big deal to me. It is actually just the right amount of rumble for me.

Notice for XBox users. None of the methods worked for me at first. I was told to try renaming my controller in the registry from "XBCD XBox controller" to "Logitech Dual Action". I did that in the 3 places you need to, and it still didn't work. So I left that as it was, and then tryed editing the controller.cfg so that the device used was "Logitech_Dual_Action". So now, I had both the registry hacks and the controller.cfg changes. My controller still didn't work.

Finally, I came across a longshot on another board. In the three registry entries where you change the name of the controller, there is also a DeviceID that is listed in Hex. For me, it said "03 08 10 00 00 00". I changed it to "01 08 10 00 00 00" (which is the ID for the Logitech Dual Action), and it all of a sudden worked!

YMMV

My roommate can't get his generic controller to work. It's a Century Concept digital controller listed as a "HID Compliant game controller" in the device manager. We tried renaming the .cfg and tried the regedit. Any help would be appreciated.
