masthead.gif

Seattle,WA-The Mariners pulled a shocker late yesterday, announcing that GM Bill Bavasi has stepped down and will be replaced by newcomer Kory Miller. Miller is excited as the season comes to a start, "I can hardly contain my excitement any longer !" Miller said at the press conference announcing his hiring. Miller has had little experiance at the management level and with the season just days away one can only hope he knows what he is doing.

Player Profiles

Ichiro-The true cornerstone of the M's, look for him to have another great season.

Jeremy Reed-Great prospect, now going to get major playing time as starting CF, Could be sent to Tacoma if he struggles

Adrian Beltrae-The M's prized trophy from the offseason, They hope he will produce another MVP year for them

Richie Sexson-Another key signing, however if the M's struggle to break even around the All-Star break look for trade rumors to be circuling his head

Raul Ibanez-Another veteren who could be traded to save money if the M's do poorly this year

Randy Winn-Has great potential, has never truly lived up to the hype, and now at age 30 how many seasons does he have left ?

Miguel Olivo-The M"s have said over and over he is their catcher of the future, only time will tell

Willie Bloomquist-Arizona State product has been mostly a flop in the bigs, he needs a breakout season to stay in Seattle

Michael Morse-Amazing athlete who has a wonderful spring and earned a starting spot in the majors, he will be fun to watch

Wiki Gonzolez-Will become starter if Olivo slumps

Bucky Jacobson-Last year's surprise is this year's bench warmer, he is earger to proove himself again to M's coaching

Jose Lopez-Called up from Tacoma to sit on the bench, expect him to go back down

Chris Snelling-Could push Winn for LF spot

Jamie Moyer-The M's aging ace, how much is left in the tank ?

Gil Meche-The M's ace of the future, had a GREAT spring and is looking to turn heads this season

Feliz Hernandez-The #2 prospect in America is now the #3 starter in Seattle, He could be ROY material

Ryan Franklin-Spot starter needs to get to 10 wins for Seattle to get anywhere

Aaron Sele-Should add backbone to this rotation and hold it together, injuries may derail his season

Seattle (0-1) Vs Minnesota (1-0)

Too little,Too late for Mariners

masthead.gif

The Mariners' comeback ended short Friday against Minnesota. Joe Mauer hit two homeruns and drove in four runs to earn player of the game status. M's starter Gil Meche left the game to the bullpen in good shape, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits in 6.1 Innings, Rafeul Soriano was brought in for relief and allowed a solo home run to Mauer making it 3-1 starting the 8th.Maseo Kida came in and threw a perfect 8th but gave up Mauer's 2nd homer in the 9th, a three run shot to right field, The M's answered in the bottom of the 9th with Bucky Jacobson's pinch hit homerun, another three run shot to right field, making it 6-4. It was too little, too late for the M's as their comeback fell short. The finale of the series will be the much anticipated first MLB start of Young Phenom Feliz Hernandez, He will face Twins' starter Carlos Silva.
