bob44 Posted June 5, 2006 Share Posted June 5, 2006 Opening Day for the Dodgers 2006 season ! Opening Day pitchers........Smoltz vs. Lowe Derek Lowe starts the game as good as possible. Retires first 19 batters of the game! 6 1/3 perfect innings until Renteria breaks it up in the top of the 7th with a single up the middle. The game gets away from him, 2 runs on 4 hits in the 7th. Bottom of the 8th, Lofton at 2nd, 2 outs.......Garciappara hits it deep....to tie the game........Nope, caught on the warning track Dodgers get 9 hits and good pitching, but can't score. One bright spot of the game - Jeff Kent 2-run homer in the 4th to go up 3-1 Game got ugly :? , gave up 6 in the 6th and 4 in the 7th...... Here's the go ahead run 5-4 Bringing in Gagne for the first time this year. Its not a save situation, but we need a win for sure! Everybody was hitting today...... First win of the year, a good one.
