This topic was started to improve on what is its first of a kind, a retro total classics mod for MLB 2k12 that was created by Geomlb87.

Ever since its release on November 7th I have been steadily updated and compiling faces to improve on this mod in order for it to reach its full potential

 

The reason for this post is so others have a place to discuss the mod, give feedback and post their own add-ons, new faces or stadiums.

If you have something you may already created for the 1997 or 1998 season, or even the very early 2000’s for MLB 2k12 please share it here, or if you would like to contribute something new by making some new faces, stadiums or uniforms for the 1997 season, you are more than welcome to and post them right here as well.

This is currently my personal pet project, which is adding to and updating this great mod by Geomlb87. I gave up work on the AAA roster I was working on, too many crashes, I couldn’t get all the AAA teams to show up all at once or work properly, so I stopped and devoted all my free time to updating this mod.

 

What I am currently working on, is adding faces and new face Id’s to all players and updating some star player ratings. I also increased all players age by +15 years from their real birth year.

I am also working on an accurate and complete 1997 MLB schedule for this mod.

 

The faces are mostly coming from the face packs created by a fella named Hanny back in 2017 & 2018, the ones I could open and were not password protected, 22 team packs in all and from two other veteran face modders who asked to remain nameless but did give me permission on Facebook to use their faces.

The ratings updates are coming from the classic rosters by vanopetrov.

I have tested franchise mode and yes it works, and I have added and updated almost 200 player faces.

 

 

Yes, I plan to release everything I have and everything I have updated the past 6 weeks. As long as I can get permission from Geomlb87, Hanny & vanopetrov to use their stuff.

Yeah, but you still need to get permission from all three. I looked up the last time each of those guys were here and two of the three have been here recently. Geomlb87 (yesterday) vanopetrov (December 14th, but he always returns to update his mod) and Hanny (August 4th.) Hanny may be difficult. He is also a member of Mvp Caribe but he has not been there since 2023.

Hi everyone, I’m very glad that you can work in improving the mod in everything you can, you have my permission to continue working and releasing all the new work you have done, and that every member could add something to make better and more complete the mod. If you need annything that I could help just let me know. And I have a question, when you talk about ratings update, what is exactly? The skill points of the players, such as contact and power of a hitter? or what exactly?

Thank you, Hanny, and thanks for those updated faces you sent me.

 

This makes 4 permissions, one more and I will be releasing this update, as soon as I finish it up.

 

 

Update on what I have been editing this past week,

 

1. A few new faces from the Facebook & Telegram guys and Hanny.

2. I completed the Chicago White Sox and some player updates & as many new player faces, I could add for the Cincinnati Reds (Deion Sanders has a new face now)

3. I edited the 28 players from 1997 season that were switch hitters. Only 7 of the 28 had that designation.

4. I am currently using REDitor II to check and to uncheck the (Is Rookie Eligible tab), so only the 1997 real rookies and the 1998 rookie players who are in the free agent bin will be eligible for the rookie of the year awards if you play in franchise mode.

5. Still working on the 1997 schedule

 

 

I will continue to update post #2 with my progress and updates sheet from time to time.

 

And I want to once again thank geomlb87, without all his hard work to put this mod together, none of these add-ons or simple edits would even be possible.

 

 

I can't wait to finish and release it and most of all play this!!

It has been a week since I posted something here.

 

So, here are a couple of screenshots of circa late 90's updated faces I have been gathering from outside sources.

These are courtesy of an old Operation Sports friend and another NLSC buddy of mine.

 

Disclaimer:

Just as before, these are not my faces, and I take no credit in the creation of them.

But I have received permission to post these screenshots here and also these and many other new faces will be included with this updated roster & faces update I plan to release.

 

I am still chugging along adding faces and updating player ratings.

 

 

Question for Geomlb87, the players who are in free agency, who will not appear in the majors until 1998-1999, like Adrian Beltré, Carlos Beltrán to name a couple, should I leave them as free agents or should I put them on their AAA teams? (25-30) players.

Hi, the thing is that I didn’t work in the rosters of the AAA level or below levels, I only change the names of the more known players, in order to avoid any reference to the players of the current years (2010 to present). I didn’t do this work because I didn’t have to much information of these levels on those years and because it would be a work that will take too long. I think you should leave them in the Freeagency to make them more easy to find when someone plays the game.

 Yes, probably if someone just wants to play a quick game and can have quick access to these players to add them to teams if they choose.

 

But the way I play, I always have to play franchise mode or a season mode for any sports game I play, or it's just not fun to me.

 

So, what I will do is create two updated versions of your roster.

 

One with the players in free agency as you had them,

 

And two, a franchise roster with which turned out to be many more players than I first thought, (52) players in all, and put them all on their respective minor league teams, so they can come up through the system as a franchise progresses.

Here are a couple of previews of the many new faces for this mod I have been collecting the past couple of weeks.

Again, Disclaimer: These are not my faces, and I had no job in the creation of them.

 

Currently I am still working on the 1997 schedule and continue to update this mods franchise roster, acquiring new faces and still adding in player faces from the 22 face packs by Hanny.

I would love to get additional help from other modders on creating stadiums for the 1997 season or just updating advertisements from this time period. Some new portraits would be useful as well.
