rb2525
Hey everyone. I'm new to PC gaming. I mainly play sports games and would like some help on what type of PC would be best to do that without spending thousands of dollars if possible. Thanks!! Savoy Special
I have an old Dell PC with plenty of storage for all the games and associated files. Make sure you have any PC set up for Windows 7, as more modern versions aren't stable for MVP Mods. Here's an example of a similar PC that I use exclusively for MVP Mods currently on EBay for under 100 bucks. https://www.ebay.com/itm/234201536005?_skw=Dell+PC+Windows+7&itmmeta=01KNF4Y9019R6JM43J4C2SW17K&hash=item36877fd605:g:fCcAAOSwV5pns9Lu&itmprp=enc%3AAQALAAAA0GfYFPkwiKCW4ZNSs2u11xCGMln2iY2pHKU69Uor2fxDcwYNomiDvwul5jxO9pyxRAEMLPS9lGD%2FXhkMnrLLHyEdryWTFdpIISNeZvp4twi17o88ehRy4WW8HydaSlJROShssEmaRzEtSUlLez526rJVV%2Bekli%2BNBmA2OCSJofztwPjmNknFGEyPyA%2F6blYV%2BLy4L13fq%2FkUv7eTKeXzX8sKeGPpXvNR8SiWYQHoBHQoUs4FsgnwLWWJDskxcYge14lYiESj8BHaSsQwbBbtV0Q%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR5qQ-eSrZw I NEVER connect my PCs to the internet so you don't have to worry about Windows updates that could mess up your setup. I keep the MVP 2005 Disc 2 in the machine to limit risk of scratching and damage to the game. I also have multiple backups of the original discs in case of any damage to the disc. This will cost you a little but I think you'll find it's well worth it for piece of mind. I currently have three copies of the original MVP Mods Discs 1 and 2 - basically when I've seen opportunities to purchase reasonably (under 75 bucks), I've jumped on those so I have three current copies of the original discs. Right now there are multiple copies available on EBay in the 45-65 dollar range, which many folks who have been here a while will tell you is quite reasonable (see below): https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=MVP+Baseball+2005+PC&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2332490.m570.l1313 Get a good Playstation controller for PC - there are several different versions but you don't have to spend too much on it. Make sure you take the time to set up the controller for proper play. Also you'll obviously need a monitor. You could stay within $300 for everything (PC, original discs, monitor, controllers, etc.), which is still cheaper than most modern gaming consoles. Plus I have a full backup setup at my parents house so I can still play when I visit them. All you have to do in that case is drop your saved files on a zip drive and load them when you move back and forth :) Welcome to this amazing world my friend! The years I've spent playing this game have been so rewarding and fulfilling! And now I'm blessed to share this game and amazing experience with my son. My 15-year-old son and I recently started a new season with the 1951 Brooklyn Dodgers, and it's so much fun! The stadiums, the uniforms, it's the next-best thing to going into a time machine and reliving these amazing players and teams! For a baseball nerd like me, it's just the best! Good luck (and I'm here if you have any other questions!) Quote Link to comment https://www.mvpmods.com/forums/topic/76710-newbie-help/#findComment-717944 Share on other sites
rb2525
Thank you so much!!! This is great. I have interest in the Super Mega Baseball mods as well. Would I need something different for that?
