elbrakiachi Posted August 24, 2005 Share Posted August 24, 2005 So my computer crashed, and now I'm trying to re-install MVP 2005 and for some reason I can't get past 53%. I get a random error for an EA Support file not being read properly from the media. I've tried reinstalling 5 or 6 times and it appears to hit the same snag but with different files in the EA Support directory on disc one. The disc is in pristine condition with no visible marks that would suggest damage. Any suggestions? I need an MVP fix! Technically and habitually! Thanks in advance. spitoon Posted August 25, 2005 Share Posted August 25, 2005 Assuming the files are not integral to running the game (which I'm assuming they are not since they are EA Support files), here is what I'd do. Copy and paste all the files on the offending disk to a folder on your hardrive. Make a note of the offending files and create new files (either by renaming other similar files, or just making new .txt files) and rename them to match what they should be. For example, if you have EAsupport1.html, EAsupport2.html, EAsupport3.html, and only EAsupport1.html is causing you a problem, just copy and paste EAsupport2.html and rename it to EAsupport1.html. Obviously you'll be missing the original EAsupport1.html, but it should allow you to install the game and won't effect the actual performance of the game. Now you can either burn a new disk from your compilation, or, if you can figure it out, just install the game from the new location on the harddrive. The files are only pertinant to EA Online, so I just un-installed all EA Sports online stuff, then re-installed the game. When it tells you you're about to start downloading EA Online components, just click 'no.' You don't need them to play the game, then you can continue with the installation error free! Make sure all other drives are empty and try install again. What I mean by that is, you make sure you have no files whatsoever of MVP on your system including your directory files. It's a bit tedius but you shouldn't have a problem after that. After uninstalling, navigate in windows explorer to your MVP folder & see if there is still such a folder on your hard drive. (note that MVP creates two folder on your hard drive called "MVP Baseball 2005") The second one is located in your "my documents" folder. Make sure to delete both. Have tried all the above fixes, but still hangs at 53%. Any other possible solutions....I guess I could just copy the files from my old computer, would that work? Any help would be appreciated. That will work, but you won't get back your dynasty unless you copy the mvp2005 folder from your "my documents" folder. Also... if you want to do less work, all you need to copy for your uniform files is 2 files. 1) models.big & 2) the uniforms.big. One is for the actual uniforms, the other is for the preview pictures of the uniforms. For portrait's you copy the portrait.big file. For stadiums, copy the stadiums you want from the stadiums folder. To get the models.big, look in the data folder. The uniforms & portrait.big files are located in your frontend folder.
