Guys I have a question, how do you take pics?

Most Important Players

Jeff Reyes SS/ULT - Drafted by me, spent two years in the minor leagues before earning the 3rd base spot in ST. In his rookie year he hit .286 with 9 HR and 58 RBI. Has added power, last year he hit 37 HR.

Brian Ramos SP - Aquired from the Marlins for C Jay Walbeck in a blockbuster move. Was only 23 and was 9-2 with a 1.65 ERA when aquired. Went 9-5 with a 2.86 ERA with the Pirates the rest of the way, earning Cy Young honors.

Javier Hentgen SS/INF - Drafted by me and had a monster rookie year, hitting .311 with 31 HRS and 78 RBI. Ten years later and two batting titles later, he is one of the best players in the ML. Had played RF on occasion.

It was a good night at PNC, as the Pirates proved that no one, can stand in its way.

Tonights starter Roosevelt Wasdin shut down the Cubs for six innings until he gave up a game tying two-run homer to John Bersek. But, he settled through it and pitched 1.1 innings more before giving the ball to set up man Matt Jorden.

The offense got it started for Pittsburgh as Howie White lead off the bottom of the first with a no-doubter in the right field bleachers. Two innings later Javier Hentgen singled home Mario Castro for 2-0 lead.

With the game tied in the bottom of the seventh, Tim Cardona, givin the start at third, doubled in the winning runs.

In the top of the ninth with a 4-2 lead, Dennis Espinosa had no trouble saving the game by pitching a 1-2-3 inning

Postgame Comments

" We played an overall good game. Roosy(Wasdin) pitched great besides that little blemish in the seventh and our offense came to the rescue" Jeff Reyes

" There are some things we can work on, such as playing better defense. There were some plays that should have been easy outs but they went through into the outfield. But, other than that, it was a good game" Manager, Ben DeCoste

Potential September call ups?

You might see these young prospects in September

Mike Radnisky, C - Drafted in the first round, 29 th overall by the Pirates in 2030. Was called up when Josh Johnson went down, hitting .204 in 9 games.

Don Kumagai CF,2B - Drafted by the Pirates in the first round , 30th overall in 2031. Only 20, was called up this year hitting .205 in 20 games. Projected to be a lead off hitter.

Justin Farmer, OF - Drafted by the Pirates in the first round 27th overall in 2029. No speed. Average power. Moderate defense. Was a September Call up the last two years, hitting a combined .267 with 2 HR and 7 driven in.

Oliver Mendez , RP - Drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the first round, 14th overall in 2028. Traded to Pirates in part of the Jay Walbeck deal in 2031. Fastball ticks in at 97. Nasty curve. Needs to work on his change.

Gil Dunston - Drafted by the Pirates in first round in the 2030 draft, 26th overall. Fastball around 94-96. Great splitter. Already called up, 2-1 with a 4.39 ERA
