The problem with editing players faces right now is that the file names aren't known, so first you have to find which number refers to which player. I do believe there are people working on player attrib editors and/or the like, so that may help. But once the player file is found, it's possible to modify their facial features, however the actual shape of the face and facial hair can't be changed yet. For example, a clean shaven guy can be given a beard, but it can't be a dimensional, 3D beard. It will only be a flat texture on their face.
