NEGRO LEAGUE BASEBALL Version 4.0
By dennisjames71
About 12 years since the most recent version of this mod; I wanted to finally release a notable update to my mod. Much of the reason for this update is because of the 2020 announcement that Negro League statistics were formally recognized by Major League Baseball and that career statistics for players (which were previously difficult to compile) were now being added to databases and websites such as BaseballReference.com.
https://www.mlb.com/news/negro-leagues-given-major-league-status-for-baseball-records-stats
Because of this I went through and recalculated at least 38 of the top/famous players in my mod using the BaseballReference site and of course DylanBradbury’s tremendous calculators. For example, I was able to use Jackie Robinson’s 1945 season with the Monarchs and added his 1946 season with the Montreal Royals to calculate his ratings for the Negro League Mod. I was pleasantly surprised that there were mostly only minor differences with the ratings I calculated 12-13 years using books and some rough databases for these players, and that a lot of that hard work in research was not in vain or totally “off”.
Another significant update in this version are the uniforms. About 8 years ago bctrackboi11 (John) created some Negro League uniforms and sent them to me and allowed me to utilize in future mods. I have used these uniforms sets which are a little more than half of the uniforms. I have created (such as a 2nd set of Chicago American Giants uniforms) or re-created the other half of the uniforms for the mod.
Other changes will be listed in the changelog below and I did this to make available a little more refined version of this mod which was a huge passion project for me all those years ago. I still love this mod and like many, many of the Total Classics mods; I still find the time play these on a regular basis.
I want to thank the sparkplugs of my update project; bctrackboi11 who sent me those wonderful uniforms and inspired me to re-do them all. Also, in recent years Bob Kendrick’s wonderful “Black Diamonds” podcast which focuses on the History and Legacy of the Negro Leagues has been a constant inspiration.
Thank you all for checking this out,
-Dennis
The method for updating or installing this will be very simple. The file you download will be a zipped (.7z) folder containing the all-important DATA folder. Whether you have a previous version of the Negro League Baseball mod, a clean MVP Baseball 2005 install, or any other MVP Baseball mod; the instructions are the same:
1. Delete the entire DATA folder in your installed game (this is where you are going to install this mod). (ex. C:\MvpBaseball2005\DATA)
2. Extract/Unzip my file you downloaded into your main game directory. (ex. C:\MvpBaseball2005) This is your new DATA folder.
3. Double-click the mvp2005.EXE to start the game.

NEGRO LEAGUE BASEBALL
By dennisjames71
After nearly a year of work…I wanted to finally present my All-Negro League Baseball Mod for MVP Baseball. After making my first negro league uniform last December, the effort snowballed into a full-fledged mod, thanks to all of the knowledge I’ve picked up and applied since then. At first I went at it for the purpose of making it for myself because of my love for the Negro Leagues; but I figured I would share my effort here so others may enjoy it as well.
So here’s what this thing is:
*A complete mod that transforms MVP Baseball into an 18-team (plus 2 EAST/WEST All-Star Teams) Negro League Mod. I’ve pulled some of the best all-time players from each franchise and through multiple eras, into a single team. Teams such as the New York Lincoln Giants will mostly have players from their best years in the 1910’s and early 1920’s for example.
*I’ve utilized the excellent Complete Book of Baseball’s Negro Leagues (John Holoway) and some Ootp All-Time Negro League spreadsheets to obtain the tough to find career statistics of many of the players. Statistics and Ratings for the better known players are more ‘polished’ than some of the lesser known players. Thanks to DylanBradbury’s superb batting/pitching calculators, I feel I was able to develop good but rough ratings for some lesser-known players who had very little information. I have portraits for the popular players and decided to use a generic negro league portrait for other players instead of the ‘blanked-out’ photos.
*Practically every single aspect of this game has been modded to get the user into a term me and redeck coined when we did our TC 1927 Integration series; historical immersion.
All music (walk-up & jukebox) is changed to very early blues and jazz songs.
Thanks to bctrackboi11; you’ll find “old” and worn baseball bats and a dirty, hard-to-see baseball.
African-American crowd in each of the 18 stadiums with celebrities like Joe Louis, Robert Johnson, and Duke Ellington making an appearance.
All fireworks visuals are removed. All fireworks and sirens sounds have been removed when a home run is hit. You will just hear the crowd roar.
All of the created uniforms are from the most popular eras of each franchise. Some teams (like the KC Monarchs) have 2 sets of home/road uniforms.
*I’ve modded/made 18 stadiums for the Negro League teams. They are typically modifications of the stock 1927 stadiums along with others. These are interpretations of well-appointed stadiums for the teams to play in and are by no means accurate; but they provide an excellent environment to play the games in.
*Much thanks to bctrackboi11 for his excellent and iconic 1942 KC Monarchs home uniforms and New York Cubans uniforms in which he gave permission to use. Credit goes to Thome25 for his late 40’s/early 50s New York Cubans uniforms which adds a nice touch as well. I had completed the remainder of the uniforms along with the brand new, original uniforms I made for the East and West all-star teams.
*I used many of the cyberfaces for popular players that me and redeck had in out TC 1927 Integration Mods. They were done predominantly by Homer and jogar84 and others. I apologize if I missed any of the other cyberface makers who allowed us to use them in our previous mods.
*I want to give thanks to my old partner redeck for being a motivator for making Negro League material when we worked on our mods in the past Winter/Spring. His painstaking work on those rosters enabled me to use many of the players and ratings into my full Negro League mod. Thank you bud.
*A ton of thanks goes out to OTBJoel for stadium and team audio. Back in the spring and before his epic Legends of the Booth mod; he was kind enough to provide his Legends to announce proper city/stadium names as well as team names for my mod personally. You will hear Ernie Harwell announce the game is between the “Homestead Grays versus the Kansas City Monarchs” for example.
*Unfortunately because I do not know player audio, there will be little of that throughout the game but perhaps if I am able to learn those skills, I can always update this project. Also since this was done prior to the Legends of the Booth release; this will have Kiper/Krukow play-by-play and commentary.
*Much thanks goes out to DylanBradbury who had created a tentative schedule that has a few kinks that we will iron out and it is included in the game. It is a 126-game schedule for Dynasty Play.
*Finally thank you Jim825 for keeping the flame burning of your excellent efforts of Total Classics Baseball. You have been an inspiration from Day 1 for me.
My mod is by no means the ‘end-all-be-all’ and definitive Negro League Mod but its accuracy and realistic values I feel are good enough for many of the Classic Baseball fans here at MVP Mods to enjoy and perhaps be inspired to create their own work or improve upon the foundation I have laid down, hopefully.
Lastly, this effort was done because of my enduring passion and respect for this group of men who played a wonderful style of baseball in the Negro Leagues. It was my nod of admiration and a way of creating a historical experience with these superb players and the game they played.
Feel free to try this out guys and I hope you enjoy the experience. It was well worth the effort to me.

MVP Asia Series Stadium Pack_1
By dennisjames71 in Stadiums
Here are 4 additional modded stadiums for use with the MVP Asia Series Mod. Included are stadium files for (3) Japanese Stadiums:
-Generic All-Purpose Dome (Named Osaka Dome)
-Hiroshima Carp Stadium (Using Great American Ballpark as the stadium model and the Camden Yards slot)
-Hanshin Tigers Stadium (Using Guaranteed Rate Field as the stadium model and the Ballpark At Arlington's slot)
(1) Korean / KBO Stadium is included:
-Generic All-Purpose Dome (Named Seoul Stadium)
I have enjoyed the MVP Asia Series Mod since it was released years ago and have worked on these stadiums over the past 2 years. I had watched numerous KBO and NPB game highlights and used screenshots to transpose many of the wordmarks and ads used in the stadium. When ads were not available; I created them myself.
I will be releasing (2) CAS (Create-A-Stadiums); 1 for Japan and 1 for Korea likely tomorrow that can be used for this great mod.
I am also working on an additional outdoor KBO stadium.
Simply copy the stadium files into your data/stadium folder and copy the datafile.txt files (arliday.txt, arlinite.txt, orioday.txt, orionite.txt ) to your data/ folder.
Enjoy KBO and NPB fans!

Total Classics 1976 Patch #1
By dennisjames71 in Total Classics
Use TiT to install the following patch.
*This patch will correct the portrait for 3B Brooks Robinson of the Baltimore Orioles.
*Also, this will correct the Chicago Cubs road uniforms from the gray color to the corrected sky blue road uniforms they wore that season. The uniform image I used from the Dressed to the Nines website appeared gray; but after viewing actual photos of the 1976 road uniforms, I realized that they were a sky blue-ish color instead.
*The corrected uniform select file for the Cubs is also included in this ZIP file.

Total Classics 1993 Update (Uniforms & Stadiums)
By dennisjames71 in Total Classics
Total Classics 1993 Update
I had recently received permission from HAWK233391 (the creator of the full 1993 Mod) to upload a graphic update to Total Classics 1993. Since it was released, I have enjoyed this mod greatly and wanted update the uniforms to the accurate versions for the 1993 season and I upgraded the turf for all the stadiums and improved the look of some of them as far as ads go. There are also a few menu/cosmetic updates for the game included in these files.
You can install these updates by simply extracting the contents of the ZIP file into your main game directory and overwrite all files. Please backup your game directory if there are any problems.
A huge thank you goes out to HAWK for his permission and for his excellent work and effort on the NBA 2K Mods and Ultimate Base Rosters.
Enjoy!!

MVP 14 Baseball
By dennisjames71 in Total Conversion Mods
MVP 14 BASEBALL
by dennisjames71 & daflyboys
SUPPORT LINK: '&do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>
Presenting a full conversion mod to bring the MVP Baseball experience into the 2014 season.
Based upon the success from the last 2 season's mods (MVP 12 & MVP 13), this mod heavily focuses on realism of not only the major league rosters as well as the minor leagues. This is thanks to the superb talents and painstaking dedication of daflyboys and his rosters along with heavy collaboration with ENCBase13 and his tremendous contributions. A huge thanks goes out to Oscar Morales for his constant updating of the Player ID list which ensures accuracy and uniformity. Rising Son’s cyberfaces and portraits have been a great contribution to the community and this mod as well.
Graphically, this has been a pet project of mine since Spring Training of this year and I was lucky enough to get a large majority of the work compiled by around April/May. After a lengthy layoff...I decided to revisit the project and finish what I started. As I mentioned, daflyboys' excellent and accurate rosters was a huge motivator for me in this project. Behind the scenes, the comments and kind words from people like Y4L, Jim825, daflyboys, and bctrackboi11 helped me tremendously in even bringing this to the table in the first place. To be honest, if it wasn't for these good friends, this project would not have seen the light of day.
Anyway, what we have here is a considerable modification from my own personal MVP 13 from last season which not only updates the experience, but also adds some unique touches to the game. First of all, this mod focuses on the modern game. I have eliminated all classic stadiums and have repurposed/modded a set of 24 minor league and/or spring training ballparks to play in. From the stadium select screens, it’s obvious that some stadiums are team specific but there are also some "generic" minor league parks to play in too. Of course there are versions of all MLB stadiums and you'll find the night version of Target Field among the minor league parks (just scroll through and you'll find it).
Updated and new custom uniforms are there for MLB and minor league teams. The only team that I did not update to the 2014 season was the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs (AAA) and I will do those and release them at some point when I get a chance as an add-on. Now the question will come up with the blank/blacked-out slots in the uniform-select screens. Yes, there are SOME blanked out slots for SOME teams and the reason why I did that was to try to eliminate the stock throwback uniforms that just are not up to par with the rest of the uniform sets. Also, the other main reason I blanked some of those slots is because each team has “hard-coded” attributes for their uniform sets such as “Classic Tight”, “Classic Baggy”, etc. The problem is if you take a modern or baggy uniform and try to place it in a “Classic Tight” slot, then the uniform looks warped…in other words, it looks horrible. I combed through many of my Total Classics uniforms in order to fill as many slots as possible but I wasn’t going to waste my time looking for Classic Tight uniforms for the D-Backs for example, when they never really existed in the first place. Overall, there is a tremendous collection of uniforms here to choose from and I have tried to label them as completely as possible. Otherwise, just pick one that looks good and go with it.
The core of this mod comes from daflyboys & ENCBase13’s roster set which is based on current rosters as of September 14, 2014. Unlike many baseball video games, these rosters are not based on stats and ratings from last season; these are based on THIS season. The painstaking work and great attention to detail is what’s going to make this mod an enjoyable experience. You’ll be pleasantly surprised with the sim results as well.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
You must have a clean install on MVP 2005 baseball for this to work. There are 4 links to choose from below. Pick one and download the ZIP file; it’s called “data”
Use the LINKS to download the updated content of the game. If you click the green "Download" button, that contains a copy of daflyboys' roster pack. Simply take the DATA folder that you downloaded and copy/extract it to the directory where the MVP 2005 baseball game is installed. YOU MUST OVERWRITE EVERYTHING and let it copy over all the new material that was in the original DATA folder. Start the game.
I have tested this method and the game itself on 3 different PCs running Windows XP and Windows 7 64-bit. This works on a gaming desktop PC (Win 7), a standard desktop PC (Win XP), and a 2 year-old standard quality PC laptop (Win 7).
With that being said; I’m sure there will be “My Game Crashes when I try to start a game” issues. To minimize some of these possible problems; please try some common sense, troubleshooting tips so that the support forums will not get flooded unecessarily.
TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS
Re-boot the computer and try to start the game from there. Make sure that you don’t have multiple programs, browsers, media players, etc. running at the same time. Check your in-game resolution. When I test this game on a laptop, I make sure I’m running it at 1024 x 768. If it’s running on a system with a larger monitor; I use the 1280 x 1024 resolution. Make sure your video card drivers are updated. Run the game in Windows XP Compatibility Mode & Run As Administrator. Just right-click the .EXE file, click the Compatibility Tab, and then makes sure to click Apply. Download the BigGUI Tool:
'?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>
Open your Models.BIG (in your DATA folder) with BigGUI, click File and then click Rebuild...after a few seconds, the program re-organizes the Hex Addresses of all the components...more importantly it brings the Models.BIG file down from 819mb to around 760 mb. I have had ZERO crashes since doing this on all of my installs of MVP 14. I would highly recommend anyone having crash issues to give this solution a try. It's quick and easy.
I know the requirements for the original MVP 2005 Baseball were quite low; but keep in mind that with all of the conversion mods, the requirements are a bit steeper. Resolutions of uniforms and stadiums primarily are doubled or quadrupled but still, almost any modern PC will run this fine. For example, my laptop cannot run NBA 2K14; but it runs MVP 14 with no problems. I’ve made sure to properly compress and rebuild (in biGUI) all stadiums so that the file sizes are minimal. When I tested this, I started 8 exhibition games in a row on my gaming desktop and I started 5 games in a row on my laptop with no crashes.
Now, the only operating system I have not tested this on has been any version of Windows 8 (8.1), etc. All I could recommend is to make sure you are running the game in compatibility mode/administrator mode.
I’ll be creating a support forum thread for MVP 14 where questions can be addressed; but again, please review the trouble-shooting tips I posted above to see if that doesn’t solve your problem.
Most of all, enjoy the game!!
-Dennis

Miami Marlins Uniform Number Fix
By dennisjames71 in Miscellaneous
Miami Marlins Uniform Number Fix
Here is a fix for incorrect uniform numbers with Marlins uniforms. The problem was with the font/number file that accompanies the actual uniform file. The numerals 2&3 and 6&7 were swapped; so that Giancarlo Stanton's uniform would show up as #36 instead of the correct #27 (for example).
I have corrected font files that should correspond with the Marlins uniforms for MVP 13...my installation is heavily modified so it might be a bit different. If so, just rename the letter for my font files here. The orange colored uniforms were correct but the home white, road gray, and both black uniforms (home/road) were wrong.
Here are the file names and the uniforms they correspond to:
f026c = Home White
f026d = Road Gray
f026f = Black Road
f026m = Black Home
Just install this ZIP with TiT and you will have corrected uniform numbers for the Marlins.

While testing out these uniforms in TC 1964; I played a sample game with the White Sox versus the Indians. I used Juan Pizarro as my pitcher and he turned in a perfect game. I knew nothing about this guy but discovered in 1964 he had his best year logging 19 wins and making the All-Star team. Juan was also handy with a bat that season and hit 3 HRs and 15 RBIs

Disclaimer: I am aware that the early 70s White Sox Uniforms had a zipper front in real life; but I chose to make them with button fronts because I feel the zipper fronts ruin an otherwise great uniform set. For the 1974 & 75 uniforms; they will be button fronts.

2013 Oakland Athletics Uniform Corrections
By dennisjames71 in Uniforms
OAKLAND A's UNIFORM PACK 2013
My apologies that some of these issues with the As uniforms, went under the radar when I checked them for MVP 13 release.
The first correction in this pack is the now, modern/corrected wordmark for the Oakland road uniforms. As you can see from the Coco Crisp screenshot; the road uniforms had been using the pre-1993 wordmark. The correct ones are in this pack.
Secondly, I was reviewing the yellow alternate uniforms in MVP 13 and they are awful. I feel I can say that because I made these back in early 2011 when these jerseys were announced and I think the colors for the uniform are terrible <see other screenshot>. My skills in color manipulation/application have certainly improved and these are far more accurate along with the correct white outline on the font numbers and letters.
Lastly, I made some fictional alternate road uniforms for the As with the 'Oakland' wordmark and a yellow colored elephant shoulder patch.
Right now, I have them in the following slots:
Slot B = Road (Modern Correct Wordmark)
Slot D = FICTIONAL Alt. Road
Slot E = Alt. Home (Yellow)
Extract the main ZIP file and install each of the individual ZIP files for the uniforms you want to update. Feel free to to put them into other uniform slots by re-naming them and re-Zipping them up. Use TiT to install.
*Also included in the main ZIP are uniform select screens in BMP format.
Enjoy!

By dennisjames71 in Uniforms
Here are the Canada Day uniforms worn by the Toronto Blue Jays for this season.
These uniform will replace slot "F" for the Blue Jays. If you want these in a different slot; just extract the files and re-name to a different slot/letter. Uniform select image is <above>.
Install with TiT.
*There are slight differences from last year's Canada Day uniform set such as the BP (Maple Leaf) Cap and that players wear their own names on the back of the jerseys (last year, all uniforms for each player said "Canada" on the back)
Enjoy!

1979/2013 Tampa Bay Rays Uniforms
By dennisjames71 in Uniforms
Here are the 1979 "faux-back" uniforms for the Tampa Bay Rays. This season they are apparently wearing them as throwback/alternates for select home games. Just install the uniform pack with TiT.
*I've also included the Uniform Select image <above> for these uniforms and they are numbered accordingly.
**Special thanks to KCcitystar for providing me with some additional/official graphics (namely the shoulder patch) so that these could be accurate.
Enjoy!!
