Hey guys,

I'm doing a Baltimore Orioles Fantasy Draft Dynasty with myself and Brooklyn's rosters (v. 2.3), and I did the fantasy draft in the MLB and AAA teams of my dynasty. Here's how it went:

  21 Hee Seop Choi 1B

  22 Brandon Inge	UTIL

  23 Jason Lane CF

  24 Hector Luna	2B

  25 Chad Qualls	RP
Right now, my pitching ranks 22nd in the league, and my hitting 3rd. In my view, that's not too bad a draft. My philosophy going in was to acquire players with good plate discipline that could work the walk, didn't have huge contracts, and, for pitchers, had either high groundball tendencies or had big K rates. Here's how the AAA section of my draft went:
Round	Player Position

  1 Felix Hernandez	SP

  2	Delmon Young RF

  3	Jeff Mathis C

  4	Greg Miller SP

  5 Conor Jackson LF

  6 Lastings Milledge CF

  7	Joel Guzman SS

  8 Edwin Encarnacion 3B

  9	Josh Barfield	2B

  10 Larry Broadway 1B

  11 Jose Valverde	RP

  12 Franklyn German RP

  13 Philip Hughes	SP

  14 Zach Duke SP

  15	Ricky Stone RP

  16	Grant Balfour RP

  17	Dave Krynzel	RF

  18 Alfredo Amezega SS

  19	Scott Olsen SP

  20	Chris Saenz RP

  21 Travis Hughes	RP

  22	Joe Powell RP

  23	Brian McCann	C

  24 Michael Aubrey 1B

  25	Eric Duncan 3B

In the AAA portion of the draft, I wanted to acquire as many top-notch prospects as I could, without compromising my philosophy. You can see that with my draftings of King Felix, Young, Miller, and Mathis. I felt that this makes my minor league system easily the best in the league, comprised of about 18 top 100 prospects. The relievers I drafted were acquired as insurance for the big league level.

In this Dynasty, I will be simming a week or so every couple of days, as well as keeping a record of all transactions and major injuries/injuries on the Major League Level as I go along, so I will keep anybody interested posted. I am also challenging myself to try and find a way to post as small a payroll as I can. This dynasty will be on MVP mode. I will get around to playing a couple games at a time as well, so I will note those games in detail.

In terms of my lineup, I will be platooning the DH spot between Choi and Phelps, the Catcher spot between Greene and Mirabelli, and the RF spot between Inge and Lawton.

For my rotation, it goes Hudson, Carpenter, Kazmir, Lowry, and Seo; Cordero is my closer, with Street as the setup man.

Thanks for reading, and check back soon! :)

EDIT -- thanks, rollie

Well, just simmed my first seven games, and the results were pretty good.

Game 1: Harden beats Hudson in a matchup of former A's - 5-3. (0-1)

Game 2: Carpenter - CG SHO, 9 K, 7 H, 1 BB - 3-0. (1-1)

Game 3: Kazmir - 6 IP, 5 K, 9 H, 2 BB, 1 ER. Cordero K's 2 for the save - 3-1. (2-1)

Game 4: Lowry rocked - Phelps 3-run HR caps off 7 run 9th. Cordero K's the side for the save - 7-6. (3-1)

Game 5: Seo - 6.1 IP, 5 K, 7 H, 2 BB, 3 ER. Offense comes alive - 10-4. (4-1)

Game 6: Hudson - 7 IP, 7 K, 4 ER; let down by 'pen, 3 runs were inherited - 6-2. (4-2)

Game 7: Carpenter hurt in 3rd inning, Mantei can't hold the line. Inge hits GS to cap off 6 run 8th - 6-3. (5-2)

Carpenter will be out for a week, and I'll be calling up Greg Miller (2-0, 1.00 ERA in AAA, 17 K's in 14 IP) for the spot start. 5-2 is a nice place to be :)

OK, simmed seven more games tonight, and ended up with yet another 5-2 showing, upping my record to 10-4 on the season.

Game 8: Scott Kazmir gets rocked early on, giving up 6 ER in the first 3 innings, but settles down nicely, going 8 IP giving up 6 ER. Huston Street gives up the other run, and a late comeback is stimied - 7-6. (5-3)

Game 9: Noah Lowry has a bad outing, going 7 innings, giving up 5 earned with 4 K's, 3 walks, and 9 hits. However, a Doug Mirabelli blast puts Baltimore up for good, giving them the win - 6-5. (6-3)

Game 10: Jae Weong Seo goes 8 innings, giving up 3 ER, 7 K's, 2 walks, and only 4 hits. A four run 8th caps off the win, with Chad Cordero's 5th save in 5 opportunities - 7-3. (7-3)

Game 11: Hudson goes 10 innings, giving up 4 ER (all in the 2nd), 9 K's, 7 walks, and 11 hits. Huston Street gets the loss, giving up a 3 run blast in the 11th - 6-4. (7-4)

Game 12: Miller was hurt in his last AAA start, so Brian Fuentes gets the spot start, going 6 innings, giving up only 2 ER, 5 K's, 3 walks, and 6 hits. Cordero's 6th save in as many chances - 4-2. (8-4)

Game 13: Kazmir twirls a gem, going 8 innings, giving up 1 earned on 8 hits, a walk, and 9 K's. Mirabelli lifts the O's to victory with a 3 run blast in the 7th - 4-1. (9-4)

Game 14: A Sean Casey homer and a stellar outing by Noah Lowry (CG, 1 ER, 2 K, 5 BB, 8 H) lift the O's to a win - 7-1. (10-4)

In other news, Hideki Matsui was signed to a 3 year, $2.3m (annually) extension, and AAA pitcher Greg Miller was placed on the 15 day DL with a strained back.

Seven more games simmed, but this time I went 3-4 :(. Some shoddy pitching led to that performance:

Game 15: Seo goes 9 admirable innings, giving up 3 earned, 5 K's, 2 BB, and 11 H. Cintron tied the game with 2 outs in the 9th with a solo shot, but Chad Qualls gave up 2 runs in the 10th - 5-3. (10-5)

Game 16: I played this one. It was a Zito-Hudson matchup, and it was indeed a pitchers' duel. Hudson went a CG, giving up just 1 earned on 2 K, 0 BB, and 6 H. Zito was even better, pitching a 3 hitter with 2 walks and 0 earned - 1-0. (10-6)

Game 17: Carpenter pitches a gem, going a complete game with 2 earned, 9 K's, 2 BB, and 7 H. Choi's 2 run homer is key to raising the O's to victory - 7-2. (11-6)

Game 18: Casey GS helps the O's over Kazmir's ejection in the 3rd. The offense dominated in general - 20-7. (12-6)

Game 19: Lowry has a bad outing (6.1 IP, 5 ER, 3 K, 2 BB, and 8 H) - 6-2. (12-7)

Game 20: Seo gives up 5 runs in 6 innings, offense is stimied - 5-3. (12-8)

Game 21: Hudson pitches a CG, 1 ER, 6 K, 5 BB, 4 H game. Choi's GS lifts the O's over the Sox - 5-1. (13-8)

Hey guys.

I simmed seven more games today, but first, a couple of news items: Ryan Wagner was signed to a 2 year, $1.3m deal annually (He was upsetting the clubhouse), and rarely used reliever Chad Qualls was put on the trading block.

Game 22: Chris Carpenter pitches yet another gem, going 8 IP with 1 ER, 10 K, 1 BB, and 11 hits. He improves to 3-0 with a 0.96 ERA. Hideki Matsui's 2 run bomb lifts the O's to a win - 3-1. (14-8)

Game 23: Scott Kazmir got in some trouble in the second inning, getting into a bases loaded jam with no outs, but he K's Adam Dunn and two others to get out of the situation. He ended up pitching a 4 hitter with 0 ER, 7 K, and 6 BB. Hee Seop Choi went 3/4 with a 2 run homer, and the O's took this one in style - 7-0. (15-8)

End of the Month Awards

AAA Pitcher of the Month: Felix Hernandez - 4.22 ERA, 27 K, 9 BB, 21.1 IP.

AA Pitcher of the Month: Phil Norton - 2.49 ERA, 22 K, 3 BB, 25.1 IP.

A Pitcher of the Month: Robb Lee - 2.19 ERA, 19 K, 0 BB, 16.2 IP.

AAA Batter of the Month: Larry Broadway - .305/.385/.427, 3 HR, 10 RBI.

AA Batter of the Month: Jason Grabowski - .388/.410/.592, 4 HR, 14 RBI.

A Batter of the Month: Matt Cepickey - .301/.385/.488, 3 HR, 12 RBI.

MLB Pitcher of the Month: Chris Carpenter - 3-0, 0.96 ERA, 30 K, 4 BB, 28.1 IP.

MLB Batter of the Month: Hideki Matsui - .347/.429/.562, 6 HR, 17 RBI.

Game 24: Noah Lowry pitches very well, going deep into the game: 8 IP, 3 R, 2 ER, 4 K, 4 BB, 9 H. The offense, however, was stalled by Kaz Ishii - 3-2. (15-9)

Game 25: Jae Weong Seo has a great outing, going 7 IP, 2 ER, 2 K, 0 BB, and 7 H. A Lew Ford 3-run HR in the bottom of the 7th broke a 2-2 tie, and Chad Cordero pitched a perfect 9th with 2 K's - 5-2. (16-9)

Game 26: A Sean Casey Grand Slam caps off an eight un 2nd inning. Tim Hudson was brilliant, pitching a shutout with 10 K, 4 BB, and only 3 H. Hudson is now 2-4 with a 2.56 ERA and 42-25 K-BB in 52.2 IP - 12-0. (17-9)

Game 27: Mark Bellhorn and Alex Cintron's respective 3 run blasts, along with Chris Carpenter's CG, 3 ER, 7 K, 1 BB, 9 H performance raised the O's to victory - 6-3. (18-9)

Game 28: Scott Kazmir got no help from his bullpen, going 7.1 IP, giving up 5 ER, 6 K, 4 BB, and 11 H. However, Huston Street came into the game in the 8th with the bases loaded and 1 out. He promptly gave up a grand slam, upping Kazmir's ER from 2 to 5 - 6-5. (18-10)

Another 5-2 sim, not bad from my view.

I double simmed, because I woudn't stop winning ;). But seriously, I went 13-0 this sim, and I think it had to do with the resurgence of my Offense, with Matt Lawton's OPS over 1.200, as well as a ton of consistent starts.

Game 29: Noah Lowry went 7.1 innings with 2 earned runs, 5 K's, 2 walks, and only 5 hits. Cintron's 2 run HR in the 8th gave the O's some insurance, and Fuentes and Cordero put this game away - 6-2. (19-10)

Game 30: Jae Weong Seo went 7 innings, giving up 3 earned on 9 hits, a walk, and a strikeout. Matt Lawton's 3 run HR in the 6th put the O's up for good - 9-3. (20-10)

Game 31: Tim Hudson pitched very well, going 8 innings of 2 earned, 4 K, 3 walk, and 8 hit ball. He was, however, victimized by his defense (3 unearned runs), but Sean Casey's solo shot in the 8th broke a 5-5 tie, with Cordero recording yet another save - 6-5. (21-10)

Game 32: Jason Lane was the hero, going 2/4 with a GS, 7 RBI, and a walk. Chris Carpenter pitched 8 innings of 3 earned with 8 K, 3 walks, and 8 hits. Carpenter is now 5-0 with a 1.80 ERA, 44 K, and 13 walks in 44.1 IP - 10-3. (22-10)

Game 33: Sean Casey's 3 run homer in the 5th put the O's up for good in this one, with Scott Kazmir going 7.1 IP with 2 ER, 8 K, 3 BB, and 8 H. Chad Cordero is now 0-0 with 10 saves, a 0.00 ERA, 12 K and 3 BB in 13 IP - 6-2. (23-10)

Game 34: Hideki Matsui hits a there run homer in the fifth inning to lift the O's to victory. Noah Lowry pitches a complete game on 89 pitches, surrendering 2 runs (both earned) on 7 K's, 2 BB, and 4 hits. The offense explodes in the 8th (8 runs) for a victory - 11-2. (24-10)

Game 35: A Doug Mirabelli sac fly in the 7th scores David Wright for the 1st run of the game, and Matt Lawton provides insurance with a 9th inning 2 run homer. Jae Weong Seo pitches a gen, going 8 shutout innings, with 6 K's, 4 BB's, and 5 hits. Chad Cordero gets another save - 3-0. (25-10)

Game 36: David Wright hits a 3 run homer in the 6th for a 5-2 lead. Tim Hudson surrenders 4 runs in 6 innings, but the offense bails him out for another O's win - 10-6. (26-10_

Game 37: Carpenter goes eight solid innings, and Matt Lawton provides some offense with a two run homer - 6-3. (27-10)

Game 38: The 7 run 1st inning onslaught by the O's offense was all Scott Kazmir needed. He pitched an 8 hit shutout, striking out 7 and walking 2 for the win - 11-0. (28-10)

Game 39: Noah Lowry gets rocked (6 ER in 4 IP), but another offensive outburst makes Chad Qualls (5 shutout innings in relief) the victor in a huge O's win to keep the streak alive - 12-6. (29-10)

Game 40: Jae Seo goes 8 innings of 2 run (earned) ball with 5 K's, no walks, and 7 hits. The offense is now well on its way - 10-2. (30-10)

Game 41: Tim Hudson was ejected in a beanball war in the 3rd when the O's were winning 2-1, but Matt Mantei came in and put up a line of 5 IP, 1 ER, 4 K, 1 BB, and 5 H to keep the lead in the Orioles' favor, and Dave Wright hit another 3 run homer for insurance - 7-2. (31-10).

I also placed Hector Luna and Jason Lane on the trading block, as they were not very happy at all. I am preparing for a series with the crosstown rival Nats as well as evaluating my minor league system and platoon system, so another post will be made later on tonight.

I simmed five more games, and I went a pedrestrian 3-2 to up my record to 34-12. I also signed Hee Seop Choi to a 3 year, $400K contract as well, finding a bargain in my own organization.

Game 42: Chris Carpenter has yet another incredible outing, tossing a 4 hit shutout with 3 K's and 2 walks. Matsui's Sac Fly in the 2nd is the only run in this O's win - 1-0. (32-10)

Game 43: Scott Kazmir endures a 7 IP, 5 ER, 7 K, 6 walk, and 9 hit outing to get the win, as the O's offense explodes for a 7 run 1st inning and another victory - their 15th in a row - 11-7. (33-10)

Game 44: Huston Street lets down starter Noah Lowry, allowing an inherited runner to tie the game at 2-2 in the top of the 8th, and allowing a leadoff homer in the 9th for an O's loss - 3-2. (33-11)

Game 45: Jae Seo crapped the bed (4.2 IP, 4 ER), but Mark Bellhorn hit a bases-clearing double in the 7th inning to make the score 9-5. Closer Chad Cordero allowed his 1st earned runs of the year, giving up a three run blast in the ninth, upping his ERA to 1.76 - 16-12. (34-11)

Game 46: Tim Hudson labors through a 7.2 IP, 4 ER, 7 K, 3 BB, 7 H outing, but lefty Brian Fuentes blows the game with a grandslam for Adrian Beltre in the 9th - 9-5. (34-12)
