Game 38 NYY (Perez 3-4) @ MIN (Mahomes 1-3)

Twins triumph in grand fashion, 12-2

mvp20052007-11-1415-55-08-85.jpg

Twin great Kirby Puckett drills grand slam in the 5th off Melido Perez

Minneapolis - Well the Yankees have now dropped four straight getting absolutely destroyed tonight in Minnesota. Melido Perez was awful giving up 9 runs on 9 hits in 5 and two-thirds. Alex Cole and Kirby Puckett each had grand slams, while Twin starter Pat Mahomes boasted a solid outing giving up 2 runs in a little over 7 innings of work on his way to his 2nd victory this season. The Bombers will now be glad to be heading back home where they are 14-6. They will now face the team that trails them by one game in the division, the Baltimore Orioles. It will be a pair of lefties with Sid Fernandez for the O's squaring off against the Yanks Terry Mulholland.

WP - Mahomes 2-3

LP - Perez 3-5

El Sid fires gem, beats yanks 3-1

mvp20052007-11-1514-08-47-84.jpg

Sid Fernandez went 7 strong innings giving up just one run on four hits.

NewYork - Well, make it now five in a row the Bombers have dropped thanks to the outing put together by Sid Fernandez holding the Yanks to just 1 run on 4 hits. New York could only muster 5 hits in all, with their only run coming when Mike Stanley doubled home Paul O'Neill in the 4th inning. The Orioles got one in the 5th off Mulholland and two more in the 6th off Sterling Hitchcock who took the loss. The Baltimore bullpen did the job tonight in the 8th and 9th innings and closer Lee Smith earned his 14th save. The Orioles and Yankees are now tied for the lead in the division at 22-17. Tommorrow afternoon the Bombers send 4-0 starter Scott Kamieniecki to the mound opposite the O's Arthur Rhodes.

Baltimore blanks yanks, 2-0

mvp20052007-11-1517-05-04-93.jpg

A frustrated and confused Yankee bench after suffering their sixth straight defeat

NewYork - Well we had an old fashioned pitchers duel tonight in the Bronx. Undefeated Yankee starter Scott Kamieiecki gave the Bombers a solid outing but had one troubled inning in the 5th, giving up a solo hr to Jeffery Hammonds and an RBI single to Rafael Palmeiro for the only two runs of the game. Baltimore Starter Arthur Rhodes couldn't have asked for a better performance throwing a 8 hit complete game shutout to run his record to 3-1. The Yankees have now dropped a horrendous 6 straight games. They look to avoid a sweep tommorow sending Jimmy Key to the rubber to face the Orioles Mike Mussina.

Game 41 BAL (Mussina 5-2 3.76) @ NYY (Key 4-3 4.86)

Bomber bats still silent, lose 1-0

mvp20052007-11-1608-42-24-98.jpg

Mike "the Moose" Mussina dominated the Yankee lineup today allowing only 3 hits through a full 9 innings

NewYork - For the second straight day the pitchers were the story of the game. Mike Mussina started todays game absolutely perfect through the first 6 innings of the game, untill he finally surrendered a 2 out single in the 7th. The Yankees Jimmy Key himself kept the O's off the board through the first 7, while scattering 8 hits. However in the 8th Key would make the one and only mistake of the day serving up a first pitch meatball to juiced up Oriole first baseman Rafael Palmeiro who "shot it up" and into the bleachers in right for the games only run. Mussina would only give up 3 hits in all on his way to a complete game shutout for his 6th win of '94. The Yankee offense again was awol as they have just been swept into second place having lost their 7th straight. The 2-time defending world champions, the Toronto Blue Jays now come to town for a 2 game set starting with 3-2 Todd Stottlemyre against 1-4 Jim Abbott.

Yankees three homers end skid, 3-0

mvp20052007-11-1614-17-19-82.jpg

Yankees backup catcher Matt Nokes blasts Todd Stottlemyre fastball into the right field upperdeck

NewYork - The Yankees got the much needed shut down outing from their pitching staff tonight. Starter Jim Abbott went six scoreless innings scattering just 3 hits. Middle relievers Pall and Gibson combined to shut down the 'Jays in the 7th while Bob Wickman handled the 8th without a hitch. Steve Howe got Toronto 1-2-3 in the ninth to earn his 14th save. The streaky Yankee offense only managed to get 8 hits off Stottlemyre though 3 of them were homeruns. Two by right fielder Paul O'Neill and one by backup catcher Matt Nokes to end the horrific 7 game losing streak.

Yankee lumber lacking once more, lose 4-2

mvp20052007-11-1618-51-04-65.jpg

Joe Carter smacks go-ahead 2 run homerun in the top of the 8th to eventually win it for Toronto

NewYork - This theme is becoming all too common for the Yankees lately. Once again their anemic offense has left them for dead as starter Melido Perez had a decent outing, while he did give up 7 hits he only allowed one run through 7 full. Blue Jay starter Juan Guzman looked great thanks to the stale Bomber bats, going 7 full while surrendering only 3 hits. However in the 7th he did give up a big 2 run homerun to Yankee catcher Mike Stanley to give the Yankees a brief 2-1 lead. But this time in the 8th, set-up man Bob Wickman couldn't get the job done as Robbie Alomar led off the inning with a solo blast, then Paul Molitor worked a walk to set up last years world series hero Joe Carter who took Wicky deep to right to put the Jays up for good at 4-2. The Bombers now head out to Kansas City to face the Royals in a quick 3 game road set before coming right back to the Bronx to face Chicago.

You know what, you should keep doing the dynasty, But make a new file and sim up to where you were. If the record isnt the same, keep trying to make it equal to your old record. I did that for mine, i started my dynasty in FLorida, i forgot to send my dynasty.sav file to my e-mail, so i simmed up to where i was at, i was 4-1 in florida, But i was 5-0 here, and now look where im at. Give it a shot, keep this going. I was following

Game 44 - NYY (Mulholland) @ KC (Gordon)

Yanks drop another, lose 4-2

mvp20052007-11-1809-47-50-65.jpg

The veteran, Wally Joyner slashes an RBI double down the left field line off Yankee starter Terry Mulholland

KansasCity - Bomber starter Terry Mulholland got pounded for 12 hits and 3 runs through 6, and despite knocking 14 hits in all tonight, the Yankees again could only manage to push across 2 runs. The 3-4 hitters for KC, Joyner and Henderson did work tonight. Joyner went 3 for 4 with an RBI while Dave Henderson went 1 for 3 with 3 RBI. The Yankees look to avoid making it 3 straight losses tomorrow as they send Scott Kamieniecki to the hill to square off against the Royals Bob Milacki.

Jim Leyritz strikes out for the second time in the game

KansasCity - Yet again more of the same in this one, the story being the Yankees inability to score runs which they had plenty of chances to do. Starter Scott Kamieniecki was ineffective giving up two runs on six hits leaving after the 3rd complaining of elbow pain.

mvp20052007-11-1816-49-31-39.jpg

He will be placed on the 15 day DL and Brian Boehringer has been called up from Colombus to take his spot on the roster while Stering Hitchcock will replace him in the rotation. Those 2 runs would be all Kansas City needed as Royal starter Bob Milacki kept New York off balance for 7 full innings giving up just one run on a wild pitch in the 1st. Hipolito Pichardo had slight trouble in the 8th but got himself out of it by striking out Jim Leyritz with 2 on. Jeff Montgomery closed out the 9th for his 6th save. The Royals now look to sweep sending Kevin Appier to the mound to face the Bombers Jimmy Key.

Don Mattingly launches a 3 run bomb to center in the 7th

KansasCity - The Bombers waited untill the final game of the series to break out the bats pounding out 25 hits in this one. Neither starter was very effective as the Yankees Jimmy Key went six giving up 4 runs on 7 hits while the Royals Kevin Appier got bombed for 6 runs on 13 hits. The Royals took a 7-6 lead into the top of the ninth where closer Jeff Montgomery got Wade Boggs to fly out leading off the inning. The next batter Bernie Williams singled and was then promptly picked off of first base for the second out. That brought up the captain Don Mattingly who laced the first pitch from Montgomery into the left center field gap for a 2 out double and was immediately lifted for pinch runner Gerald Williams who just so happened to score by a nose on bloop single to right by Jim Leyritz to tie the game and force extras. Finally in the 14th, shortstop Randy Velarde gave the Yankees the lead at 8-7 with a sac fly off Royal reliever Hipolito Pichardo. Steve Howe closed it out in the bottom half for his 10th save and a much needed win as the struggling Bombers head back to the Bronx to face the Chicago Whitesox.

Slugger Julio Franco crosses the plate after hitting solo jack off Jim Abbott

NewYork - The story tonight was 6-0 Sox starter Jason Bere who completed this one while scattering 10 hits and only surrendering 1 run to remain undefeated. Jim Abbott went 7 and two thirds but gave up 5 runs on 12 hits frustrating manager Buck Showalter, whose pitching staff has struggled to be consistent since the start of the season. The Yankees will face another undefeated Chicago hurler in the 2nd game of the series in 4-0 Scott Sanderson. He will be opposed by the Yankees Melido Perez who is 2-1.

NewYork - This game was a sloppy one from the start with both teams playing suspect defense as there were 5 errors in all. Chicago starter Scott Sanderson got shelled for 5 runs on 11 hits through just 6. Both Jim Leyritz and Don Mattingly went 3 for 4 tonight while backup catcher Matt Nokes had 3 RBI. Every Yankee batter with the exception of Randy Velarde had atleast one hit tonight. Bomber Starter Melido Perez improves to 3-1 on the year going 6 and a third, giving up a run on 9 hits. The Yanks hope to take 2 out of 3 tomorrow night sending southpaw Terry Mulholland to toe the rubber against Chicago's Jack McDowell.

NewYork - Chicago starter Jack McDowell was impressive in this complete game 7 hit shutout. The Whitesox just continue to murder Yankee pitching this season rocking both Terry Mulholand and young reliever Brian Boehringer for 4 runs each. Chicago had a total of 6 homeruns including back-to-back-to-back jacks by Joey Cora, Frank Thomas, and Julio Franco in a 5 run 7th which blew the game open for the Sox.
