Darkspace's Simsational "you Vs Cpu" Ballpark Sliders

DARKSPACE

Recommended Posts

Welcome MLB2K9 Sim players: This is my very first post/thread here on MVPmods.com, I come from MLB2Ksports. My Goal here is to "Publicly Share" on how realisticly great and wonderfully MLB2K9 can play when someone understands how the sliders work as one cohesive unit. Nothing more, Nothing less. Nor will you see me magically alter, or create a brand new set or different versions of the same thing in order to get it right. When it comes to the public I don't ever need to be the first slider set out, what I need is, To be certain in what I am delivering and be considerate to the hardcore sim 2Kommunity that are looking for a confident MLB2K slider editor. So If can get just 1 person to enjoy the full capacity of MLB2K9 and bring that individual certain satisfaction, then my effort was well worth it. Remember if you do decide on using them, they are no longer mines but are now considered ours. Hope you enjoy my/your MLB2K9 Simsational BallPark Simperience.. "BATTER UP!!"

So in closing I'll keep it simple, This newly constructed thread page will offer you a Table of Contents. Each titled topic will have an attached briefing and supported quick links that will take you directly to where your chapter of interests are or you can always scroll down manually.

Below you will see 4 sets. Each one mimicking each other but with a certain slider # Tweak. I've played tested them for quite sometime only using "Default camera views and Calm winds or Domed Stadiums" to find the proper balance. The following instruction below are crucial for knowing, using and helping.

icon_director.gifDARKSPACE's SIMSATIONAL "User vs CPU" Franchise/Exh BALLPARK SLIDERS icon_read.gif

IMPORTANT: Select your User Set & Start your difficulty menu at "PRO" before entering slider #'s

MUST DO's: Turn ON or BUY Inside Edge, Dynamic Landing Indicator & Vibration

Please Don't use: StrikeZone, Hurry Up Baseball, Balltrail & Pinpoint Pitching

Highly Recommended: Batter's Eye, Left Stick Influence

Controller Config: All Controller & Camera Types are welcomed except "Pinpoint Pitching"

:SLIDER & SETTINGS REASON & Tips PAGE STILL GROWING:

- SLIDERS & SETTINGS WORK AS A TEAM:

When in need of making an adjustment keep in mind, it is not just 1 or 2 sliders adjustments that makes the game, It's the whole combination of how well thought out Sliders & Settings are fully customized and properly mixed in together to play as one whole unit. This reason alone ensures the user that this will help create a much more realistic and enjoyable game for the team(s) involved. (Pre-Judging or Singling out Slider #'s alone can be deceiving to the user and can possibly affect the user's overall experience}

- UNLOCKING CARDS: Certain slider #'s have to be in sync to make sure that unlocking cards is permittable. Starting entry at PRO difficulties allows for full customization limitations to alter numbers without disabling card features. Follow my Pre vs Post patch Table chart found in my Thread index.

- I DON'T WANT TO DISABLE CARDS: Assuming you read my info and entered my sliders while you selected "PRO". You are forced within the limits of the game pro settings. In some sets you can not exceed or subtract from a total. If you started at Allstar or Legend then you must use the limits of those default difficulties settings.

-! WHAT TO EXPECT

- Taking full advantage of many MLB2K9 user control options

- Unlocking player cards as you continue playing your games.

- Fair amount of Balls and Potential Walks from the CPU if you're patient

- Less aggressive CPU Batters, See them look, wiff & take pitches throughout the game

- Striking out the CPU if you know how to pitch and follow the IE OSD.

- Broken Bats, Weak, Solid & Thunder sounding Batting Contact for both User & CPU

- Realistic Variety in Pitching, Hitting, Running, Defensive Fielding & Scores

- Reasonable Stat Tracking for fans of Simming a few Games at a time

-? WHY INSIDE EDGE MUST BE USED: By Enabling and/or Buying User's Inside Edge it prevents you from blindly throwing into the CPU hottest zone reducing the probabilties of the CPU running up the score. Plus I.E. Kzone offers a huge benefactor when pitching to the CPU by providing you a MVP type hot/cold zone colored OSD for the cpu's batter. Plus it also takes full advantage of MLB2K9's great scouting department by providing you with most important knowledge of the player at bat or on mound by using your Dpad.

-? WHY TURN OFF STRIKEZONE DISPLAY: Just like in real baseball there is no imaginary rectangular strike box you see while delivering a pitch or when you step up to the plate. You have to self invision where the K-Zone starts and ends. Be it pitching or hitting this will allow you more concentration on where you are trying to locate a pitch. Expect a much more realistic approach when judging you zone offensively or defensively, but don't worry you have "INSIDE EDGE" & your vibration as your guide.

-? WHY USE HIT INFLUENCE: This offers the true essence of MLB2K9 hitting, Take full advantage of using your controller's left stick function to try and sway the ball's direction in your favor.

-? WHY USE HITTERS EYE: This great feature offers you a possible zone instinct on the CPU's pitch placement plus will let you coincide using your Hit Influence controls

-? WHY NO STRIKEZONE DISPLAY: Just like in real baseball there is no imaginary rectangular strike box you see while delivering a pitch or when you step up to the plate.

-? WHY NO BALL TRAIL: Removing this aid will create a certain mystic when fielding. Plus it adds much Realism and a overall satisfaction when playing defense.

-? WHY CPU CONTACT @ #55: due to I want the cpu to take, wiff, or hit poorly on a well place pitch

-? WHY HUMAN CONTACT @ #40: mainly due anything higher can result into more solid contact and lesser strikouts, reduced foul balls and improve potential basehits.

-? WHY CPU POWER is enhance to #95: due to Heavy Hitters are dominant in real life and should be taken more seriously while you are on the mound. Lower power hitters would not have the pop to possibly drive a ball over the wall if the CPU power was dropped to the human equality. #80 is the min from pro

-? WHY HUMAN POWER set @ #70: mainly because it cannot exceed pass that number without disabling our player card feature. Anyhow our heavy hitters can be feared by CPU and our lesser hitters still have over the wall potential. Especially when draining cpu pitches of energy by being patient at the plate or knowing their composure is being rattled

-? WHY USER & AI PITCHER Handedness & I.E. Batting zone influence @ #100: cannot be reduced less due to it will disable cards

-! OFFENSIVE BATTING TIPS: Take pitches, work the count, make the CPU waste some energy. Judge his pitch speeds and remember his breaks. Don't always swing for the fences. Manufacture runs, swing with the pitch instead. If the pitch is inside swing inside. If the pitch is outside reach for it while swinging. Hit & Run, Bunt, move runners into scoring postion. If you think you can smash one then go for it, just remember it could just be a high foul ball for catcher or infield. If you can't beat their starter then wear him out and work on their bullpen. Rinse and repeat.

-! DEFENSIVE PITCHING TIPS: Dont be overally aggressive, work the count. Don't always throw strikes, I promise not every red meatball will result in auto homers or automatic hits. Mix your pitches and speeds well. Work your corners, throw around the zone high, low, inside and outside. Watch you pitch count and stamina. Keep you eye on you gesture. Don't abuse the meat of the plate. Pitch to your strengths and remember who you are pitching too. Use your better judgement on your catcher's placement. Rely on your bullpen. Rinse and repeat

-! USER & CPU PICKOFF TIPS: While I maxed these out in order to still unlock cards you won't see to many of these from both sides. But aim low and continue to keep the speedy baserunners honest cause the CPU definetly will do it to you. "CAUTION" too many unsuccessful pickoff attempts to the same baserunner may lead to your pitcher's composure to rattle when facing batter

-! GESTURE PITCHING MOTION TIP: The CPU reads a certain gesture motion command by the user and if you do not properly enter your motion/rotation at it's starting or ending marking points indicated on your OSD. You "MAY" confuse the CPU and it will bring out the next closest gesture possibility for your selected pitcher due to your instructions were not precise. (Which is why a slider can somehow get perceived as a curvball. It's all in your gesture. take your time while entering your starting or finishing motion or exaggerate it, and you will see what I'm talking about)

-! PREVENTING THE LONG BALL TIP: Once you start mastering your gestures and pitch location along with using the Inside Edge you always have the possibility to have game without the CPU going Long.

-! CATCHER's SUGGESTION TIP: Screw your Catchers Game Calling Suggestions. It is "ON" mainly for show and it helps the game look more realisticly animated while on the mound. I enforce you to pitch & call your own game. If not expect your catcher to spot his mit in some very weird locations & ask for strange pitch types which may help benefit the CPU batters.

Why is vibration a must do?

Sup Wicked420:

I surely can offer you a reason but if it at all possible, would you be so kindly to remove your post so all the posts I just made on this thread can stay stay in post order form with the original topic, This way you save me the trouble of re-editing. (Thanks)

Now the reason for "Controller Vibration" Must be ON: Is primarily for stealing bases using a rumbling controller/device. (without that you will not know when you have instructed your baserunner to steal). Plus controller vibration also indicates when you are near or out of the strikezone.

I know when i instruct my baserunner to steal because I hold the button down. And what do you mean near or out of the strike zone? When pitching? That defeats the purpose of turning the K zone off don't it?

Unfortunately I cannot remove my post, only a mod or admin can. I didn't realize you still had more to post. But if an admin/mod is reading, please delete my post above.

i would also like to know why there's no hurry up baseball. how does it affect the gameplay? also it would be cool if people posted their stats with their sliders

Sup electro: (hope this helps)

Q1 & A:

While "Hurry up Baseball" definitely does not affect gameplay. The reason I ask for users to have it "OFF" is, Once "enabled" it removes all Batter intro stats, Inning highlights, Player Highlights. Pitch Tracker, Hitting tracker, etc. all while the game is actually being played. So instead of being robbed of certain On Screen Displays or Auto built in MBL2K9 exclusive features. The user can bypass unwanted screens you don't wish to witness over & over again. This way you are still able to see some gratifiying game to game moments &/or game to game info.

Q2 & A:

Now while it would be cool for slider creators to post their game results, I am unable to access that as of now. Which is why I ask for users of this thread to use this cheap cut & paste template below as a quick reference or maybe someone can create a much better one as I've seen in the MLB2K9/Mod PC Franchise Section:

I'm using Darkspace's User v. AI offline sliders from 2k forums. They've worked well for me in the past (toning down AI batting power from 95 to 80) for realistic pitch counts, strike %, and a balance of offense. I'll test these through 2 cycles of the pitching rotation (10 games) and then make any adjustments to user pitching difficulty. The sliders give (at least for me) realistic results and you can unlock the trading cards for your team and opponents. That adds something minor to a loooong season.

No batter's eye, strike zone, etc. Just inside edge for central division teams. I am using ball cursor, but that might change after the 10-game mark.

Due to a conversation about the lack of foul balls, and noticing that I seem to get a decent amount. I started keeping track.

Foul Balls

PIT=13

StL=10

TOT=23

I usually get a lower strike percent for both user and AI pitchers, but not this game. I almost alwats take a strike unless 3-4-5 hitters get a ball up in the zone, but dang Maholm kept getting up 0-1, and then just nibbled, nibbled, nibbled (quite effectively too). Yates pitching out of a bases loaded jam was crushing.

Note: For this game, the AI BatPwr was around 70, which explains all the stinking singles for PIT.

MLB Headlines just to kee up with what else is going on in the league.

[1] LaRussa makes A LOT of pitching changes (to say the least), so I do the same thing in the franchise. Lefty v/ lefty, and all that crap.

[2] Still not the strike % I am used to. Usually it's 70% for 1-2 starters, 63-65% for 3-5.

Hitting with Pujols is almost unfair. [1] He has a small strike zone; [2] he's a 99 OVR.

Guess Porcello's (DET) MLB debut didn't go so well.

Game 3 - StL 7, PIT 6 ... g3-updatecopy.jpg

This was a fun game! Willis was leading 6-3 and the wheels of the train fell off. Bases loaded single tied the game 6-6, Ankiel threw the runner from 2nd out at the plate for the 3rd out. Whew.

Willis left at 6-4. McClellan came in and plunked Monroe with the bases juiced (damn 1-2 2-seamer running into a righty), before giving up the tying hit and being bailed out by Ankiel.

In the 8th, with a man on (and a 1-run lead), Sanchez hit a ball in the alley, that Ludwick ran down on the track ... the only time I got him out all day.

Perez, 2 for 2 in saves. I guess the bullpen will wait untl the Chicago series to completely fall apart. I can't wait. Note to self, don't pitch to Soriano and Ramirez in the late innings.

Ryan Franklin made an appearnace ... gave up a hit and then got his *** back on the bench where it belongs.

Foul Balls

PIT=15 (Willis was eatin up PIT's lefties with 2-seamers running in)

StL=3 (inc foul HR by Pujols - actually got an inside pitch to pull ... that almost never happens. Guess I got too excited about it.)

TOT=18

In my franchise threads over at 2k forums, I have a 15-game franchise w/ Darkspace sliders that people can view if they want to see game results. I started over with the new MVPComm rosters.

The only things I personally need to look at are [1] making user pitching alittle more difficult (try to get more walks), and [2] keeping AI power in check.

Also ... I play with hurry up baseball ON. After a few games of seeing the stadiums, replays, walk-ups, etc ... I've seen them. Hey look, Ryan Ludwick is running off the field for the 17th time. *grin* I don't need to see a replay of the inning-ending double play I just hit into. I had enough of that memory the first time.

There is NO WAY I could play game after game, taking pitches, working counts, nibbling as a pitcher, etc with hurry up baseball OFF. I don't know about y'all, but I can't sit down and play a game for 1.5 hours. For similar reasons I play with active bullpen off. It's not to difficult in my mind to imagine that the manager has already toward the pitching coach to "Reyes and Franklin" up. I don't achieve much satisfaction from pausing the game, selecting the pitchers, checking on them, and then subbing them into the game. Way to go gamer 1, you successfully warmed up and substitution a reliever. Yahoo. I'm a beast. I mean really.

Using these as well. having a great time but i cant for the life of me change the pitch selection? Using a dual act logi.

Select the "controller setup" feature from the menu.

Hit the #4 button on the keyboard.

You can now change the batting/hitting type.

Is that what you are referring to? Or are you trying to change the types of pitches that a pitcher throws from the "edit player" screen.

If it is the latter, you need to use a seperate editing programs that allows for editing of locked features. There's a thread about it on this forum.
