Create A Ballpark

I know many of ya'll are excited about this feature....but get ready for a disappointment.

Remember how EA included an "amazing" stadium creator in Madden 2004 that allows us to create millions of different stadiums? It turned out pretty generic and crappy. I bet it will be the same story for MVP 2005...a generic stadium creator that will give you only few options here and there with a few outfield fence settings that you can move around here and there.

a good ballpark creator just isn't possible without an advanced CAD program or something along those lines.

From the IGN MVP Baseball 2005 Interview:

And at the core of owner mode is the Create Ballpark feature. We're really excited about this. When you first go into owner mode, you can create your park. You can adjust everything like wall distances and heights, enabling you to build your team around what type of ballpark you create. You can build an expansive park or something with a short porch in right for your left-handed power hitters. You can choose the type of grass, the type of dirt, whether you want brick, padded, or ivory walls. You start out with something the equivalent of a Single-A size park with a capacity of 15,000, and through making money, you can then buy upgrades. You might start out with a small scoreboard, then you build on a jumbotron and a big bank of lights. At the very end, you'll have this colossal stadium. I think this is something people will really enjoy, in terms of customizing and upgrading their own stadiums.

Why would you want to make the fence behind first base only 100 feet away anyway? It would be so fake. You would play one game there and get bored and agitated, because you would realize that it's not real baseball. Hopefully they'll make the minimum distances 250 ft down the lines, 350 in the alleys, and 380 in CF. Maybe a maximum on the wall height of 50 ft also. It would be pretty unrealistic to make the wall height any higher than that.

Also, hopefully they give you the option of how many decks in your stadium (two, three, four, five?). Also, retractable roofs that you could actually choose to have open or closed at your discretion or based on the weather. And the option to add things behind the outfield fence like swimming pools and restaurants would be pretty cool too.

Wouldn't it be great if after you hit a home run into the stands, they could show the fans fighting after the ball for a couple of seconds? That would add to the reality of the game.
