Umachines Posted February 20, 2005 Share Posted February 20, 2005 You know, one of the best ways to enjoy a nice baseball sim is playing a best-of-7 series against a friend who thinks he plays better than you!. stecropper Posted February 20, 2005 Share Posted February 20, 2005 I agree. A simple option to play either a best of 3; 5; 7 or 9 game series would be acceptable. Better yet would be the option to setup a complete Playoff schedule with 4, 8, or 16 Teams but in lieu of that then the Best of 3's 5's 7's or 9's would work fine. Especially if statistic were kept. jg2977 Posted February 20, 2005 Share Posted February 20, 2005 What would be really cool is if you could set up a 4, 8, or 16 team double elimination tournament, kind of like how the College World Series is set up. They have the playoff/tournament mode in Madden, and it's a really good thing. It's fun to do tournaments with the Classic teams. For example, how would the '85 Bears fair against the '72 Dolphins? I would like to see how the 1996 Yankees would do against the '04 Red Sox, or the '98 Yankees vs. the '27 Yankees. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The game was much different 78 years ago than it was 7 years ago. Philosophies, strategies, and just the overall game is different. If they could both play the game their way, I would take the '27 Yanks. Back to the topic: I really wish there was a playoff mode with stat tracking like in Madden, only you could set it to Playoffs, custom single elimination and custom double elimination (with first week byes for top seeds as an option) and what not. I would think that if one game just came out and really had all the visuals, smooth GP, misc. like plenty of retro players, uni's, stadiums, create leagues, best of 5, 7 series, playoff trees, etc. they woulkd make it easy so people would continuosly 'just' play that one game. It is like every three years many of us are playing a different game. Wishing for this. Hoping for that, etc. If someone would listen to the hard core sim vets. Then, make the bells and whistles with nice play out stats and features that particular game would or could go on for quite a while.
