Happy Memorial Day

Hey, thank you MarkB. It is very appreciated. It has been nice and relaxing. No work! Coincidentally, my wife and I will be touching down in Glasgow on the 14th of June to take an 8 day tour of Scotland for our honeymoon. How's the weather this time of year?

I had a great uncle who died as a B17 tail gunner in WWII over Germany, so it's good Memorial Day reminds everyone of who we've lost. He was born so feeble and diseased that doctors never thought he'd live outside of a bed, and so he spent his days making toy airplanes. He managed to get strong enough to enlist in the Army Air Corps, and on his first sortie, his plane was attacked.

I'm not religious, but god bless to all those who've died in the past for the country.

Strange, to say the least. If it's sunny, expect random showers or heavy rain. If it's rainy, expect it to stop and become bright very quickly. If it's windy, don't expect dry weather for the next few days.

Typical Glasgow summer - we don't have a summer, we just have 2 months of winter that likes to pretend. ;)

Hope you have a good time, and stay safe. :)

That's pretty much what I've heard, not phrased quite so elloquently though

Thank you for the kind words, we'll do our best. Does Scotland have many bad sections?

Well, it depends where you're going. Scotland, as a whole, probably isn't too bad if you take into account the large amounts of uninhabited land (mountains, water etc.)and land taken up by industry (farms, crops). Glasgow, as a city, however, is a different story. It's the murder capital of Western Europe, for a start, and that obviously only covers known murders. Check out this page, and this for a comparison between Glasgow's crime stats and the rest of Scotland.

As a tourist, the best idea is to stay in busy areas during the day and unless you're going somewhere organised (a hotel, casino etc.), avoid walking the streets after dark, especially outside of the city centre. Try to get a taxi to take you where you're going.

Sorry to put a damper on the holiday, but you're better safe than sorry. Where else in Scotland are you going?
