How do you pitch in MVP baseball 2005?

Do you mix balls and strikes or you trow three strikes at every batter?

I throw fastballs right down the middle to every hitter.

It all depends on the hitter and the hitter's hot/cold zones. I usually mix up balls and strikes. If it's a good hitter I'll try to get him to chase a bad pitch or two and if it's a not so good hitter, I'll go right after him.

I tend to throw balls when I need to set up an offspeed pitch. I alos will try an 0-2 ball to get the guys fishing.

I try to throw strikes, but with the new pitching meter that isn't possible all the time. But, I have to change speeds and locations a lot to be able to pitch without getting creamed.

I usually throw at the bottom corners to get the first two strikes. If the count isn't full I'll throw a curve in the dirt and they'll swing a lot of the time. The K's add up pretty quickly.

I hit the lower corners with my fastball and get them to chase with breaking stuff out of the plate. If I'm behind to a dangerous hitter like 3-0 or 3-1, I'd much rather walk them since I have CPU power jacked up.

mix up what i throw in each situation too... just like in real life

like... 2-0 is a fastball... but sometimes i'll throw a curve in there and see if i can get him to hit it off the end or the handle... normally do that against dangerous hitters or guys who i have trouble getting out

Mix it up. I take a good sinker or splitter down in the strike zone. Bust the cutter under the hands. With the new 07 mod it makes it much more interesting.

I always mix it up, but focus on keeping pitches down in the zone. I tend to attack the corners as well. And I use pitch history to analyze how I approached each hitter previously.

How high do all of your pitch counts get for your pitchers? I often get unrealistic like 50-60.

Same. Why throw balls when the computer almost never swings at them?

I mix it up. Obviously I try to get a first pitch strike, second pitch is usually trying to paint the corners or a ball and after I just look for the tendencies of the hitters. Just like in real life, every start I make the pitcher has 2 pitches working for him (me). I try to stick with those to get guys out. Also, I employ the Braves pitching method -- fastballs down and away, which gets me into trouble sometimes because I'll fall in love with the outside part of the plate.

As far as pitch counts go ... it varies. Sometimes I have 60 or 70 pitches thrown through 8 and sometimes I reach that number by the 5th inning. I get alot of realistic pitch counts from the computer though, especially when I'm playing seriously. I wait for my pitch, take a walk when I can and try to foul off as many 2 strike pitches I see. I've had Mike Mussina throw 120 pitches against me through 5 innings and just a couple of days ago I had Haren throw 110+ through 7.

It always depends on the hitter, but I usually start with a fastball, and end with a slider or change.

In 2007 mod I found that if I don't throw some balls I get hammered. I generally try to work the corners down, and occasionally waste a high fastball to keep the computer from sitting on the low pitches. I've never gotten very good at strikeouts (average 4 or so a game) but I'm finally improving enough at the 07 mod to lower my pitch control sliders a bit.
