Pads get first shut out, sweep rivals

LOS ANGELES -- Coming into this game the Dodgers were really wanting to win this, getting swept by your rivals at home is not really the thing you want to let happen, not only does it screw you over in the standings, but it's bad for the morale. On the other hand it'd be great for the Padres. The first inning saw the Padres get on the board first with a home run from Mike Cameron. The Dodgers failed to answer back, and the Padres weren't scoring either, until the 4th inning. In the 4th inning hit a double, and then they got 2 outs against them, but Branyan wasn't about to strand guy on 2nd, and hit a double bringing in Khalil Greene to make the game 2-0 Padres. Chris Young pitched an amazing game not allowing the Dodgers to score, and get the Padres first shut out of the season. The Seventh inning saw the Padres get 1 more run in. Russel Branayan got his second double of the season, and then Brian Giles flied out and Chris Young flied out. Jose Cruz came up to the plate 0-3, but didn't want to go quiet leaving a guy on base. He connected with the ball and brough in Branyan from 3rd. Trevor Hoffman came into the game in the 9th, and locked it down in 1-2-3 fashion to give the Padres their 9th win of the season.

Game 13 of 162 - at Cubs

Pads shut out cubs

PostGameScoreboard-Game13-CHC.jpg

CHICAGO -- Both pitchers weren't allowing anything today. The only run today was a solo shot by Adrian Gonzalez. The Cubs were desperate to get a guy in scoring position in the 9th. Cliff Floyd singled in the 9th and he attempted to steal 2nd, but he was thrown out. Then Felix Pie singled, and tried to steal and got thrown out. And that was 2 outs and Mark DeRosa flew out and that was it for Hoffman's 5th save.

Game 14 of 162 - at Cubs

Cubs split series

PostGame-Game14-CHC.jpg

PostGameScoreboard-Game14-CHC.jpg

CHICAGO -- This was only a 2 game series so the cubs were looking to take this one, because there would be no 3rd game to redeem themselves with atleast 1 game. Things didnt look like they were gonna be their way as the Mike Cameron homered in the top of the 3rd inning. That lead would remain until the Cubs got a 2 run rally going on in the 5th inning which included a triple by Derrek Lee. The Padres weren't about to let the Cubs hang out with the lead and they responded in the 6th in the form of a Marcus Giles solo shot. Now with the game tied up, the Cubs wanted the lead back, and they got it back with a 2 run home run in the 6th inning and a Ward RBI double. The Friars had a little rally going on in the 8th but fell 1 run short of tying, and Bob Howry came in the 9th and locked it down for his 2nd save of the season.

Are you planning on making the trades to keep the Padre team up to date (Michael Barrett and Milton Bradley) or just playing how it is? I like the dynasty so far, love the Photoshopped set up for before game line up cards and pitching match ups! Looks great! Keep it up, GO PADS!!

Game 15 of 162 - Diamondbacks

Friars drop 2nd in a row

PostGame-Game15-ARZ.jpg

PostGameScoreboard-Game15-ARZ.jpg

SAN DIEGO -- The Padres now back at home started off rough, the Dbacks got on the board in the first inning, and the padres failed to respond in the 1st inning. The Padres made up for it by scoring a run in the 2nd, and then adding 2 more in the 3rd in the forum of a 2 run shot by Brian Giles. The Padres scored again in the 5th thanks to an Adrian Gonzalez solo shot, but this would be the end of the scoring for the Padres, without the Dbacks even beginning. The Dbacks would get another run in the 6th, then 2 more in the 7th thanks to a Byrnes solo shot and a sac fly by Chris Young after a triple by Orlando Hudson. In the 8th inning, Linebrink came in to set up Hoffman for the save, and get Maddux the win, but he failed giving up 3 runs in 2 innings off 3 hits, and some errors by the Padres. This marks the first time this season the Friars have given up 2 losses in a row. Tomorrow the Padres are gonna be working hard for th e win as this is only a 2 game series, and they don't want to give up a sweep to their division rivals.

Friars get back on the W train

PostGame-Game16-ARZ.jpg

PostGameScoreboard-Game16-ARZ.jpg

SAN DIEGO -- Going into this game, the friars wanted to avoid a sweep since it's only a 2 game series, grabbing this game would be needed. Jake Peavy was coming into this game 3-0 and Randy Johnson was 1-2 so the Padres certainly had the edge here. The game turned out to be a real pitcher duel with awsome pitching from both sides. The game remained scoreless until the 6th inning when the Dbacks broke onto the scoreboard thanks to a 2 run triple by Chad Tracy. The Padres responded in the bottom half of the frame after a single and a double got people on base. With a runner on third Jose Cruz grounded out into the infield, but placed it well enough to score Josh Bard, but that's all that would come of that inning. the 7th inning still remained with the Dbacks on top. The 8th inning didn't seem like it was going to be different, still 2-1, the Padres had 2 people on base and Peavy was pulled for McAnulty to come in to pinch hit and he really delivered. McAnulty hit a 3 run homer to put the Padres on top 4-2. With the Padres now up, a call was made to the bullpen for Hoffman and he came into the 9th to lock down the inning. The Dbacks did get a little hope with Hairston hitting a solo shot to bring the Dbacks within 1 run, but Hoffman ended the inning and got the save. This game also resulted in a loss, and blown save for Gonzalez who gave up the 3 run homer in the 8th. The Padres are now looking to at a road trip to Colorado against another division opponent.

Game 17 of 162 - @ Rockies

Rocky ending in Colorado

PostGame-Game17-COL.jpg

PostGameScoreboard-Game17-COL.jpg

DENVER -- With the Padres and the Dodgers working the standing within a game apart, every win here is important for the Friars, and things were looking rocky in the 2nd inning. In the 2nd inning Hawpe singled, and then back-to-back singles provided 2 runs for the Rockies, but the Padres were quick to respond. With 2 outs in the top of the 3rd, Mike Cameron blasted a solo shot, and then Marcus Giles singled followed by a triple by Adrian Gonzalez to drive the run in. The Pitchers got their act together providing 5 scoreless frames. The Padres ended this 2 and a half inning drought with a solo shot from Adrian Gonzalez to put the Padres up 3-2. The Rockies tied up the game in the bottom of the 7th with a triple by Torrealba that was later driven in by Mabry. With the game tied at 3-3 the Padres were able to manufacture 3 runs off 4 hits in the top of the 8th, and then 1 more run in the 9th by Josh Bard connecting his 3rd dinger of the season. The Rockies failed to score in the bottom of the 9th giving the Friars a 7-3 win.

Nice to see you grab the win against the Rockies. Seems like you had some clutch hitting from Marcus Giles. I always like to play with him - I don't know what it is - maybe his stance - but he always seems to deliver in the clutch. That was one of the reasons why I had acquired him in my dynasty.

BTW, I am sure you just overlooked it but you have shown that the Pads have scored only 4 runs when they had scored 7.
