Tampa Bay Devil Rays Owner Mode

While that trade would be nice, at this point I can't afford A-Rod's contract.the reason I'm trying to get rid of Neagle is because his contract is too high.

Edit to add:

I tried for about a half hour and couldnt get anything done. Nobody seems to want to take on his contract with me giving up somthing significant, which I'm not willing to do.

So I put him on the block. If anybody has any ideas that involves me saving salary and not giving up anything significant I'm all years.

Also promoted Jermi Gonzolez from AAA to the Big Show to take Fossum's spot. Jermi was 7-3 with a 2.56 era and 70 k's.

Fossum made his first Start against the White Sox and what a start it was!!!!

8 IP 1 hit 0 er 9k's No Decision

He had a perfect game going through 7 2/3 innings. then he gave up a double to Frank Thomas. I yanked him there becuase he had thrown 89 pitches and was really tired and I wanted to perseve to shut out. Sosa came in and got the next batter to fly out.

Fossum would of gotten the win too had it not been for my closer blowing the save and losing the game. Oh I was furious!!!! :x   :angry:

So I'm 1-3 in July so far with the yanks 1.5 games back and the Red Sox 3.0 games back. Gulp

I totally understand. I too, wanted to get rid of Neagle and Nomo, because they were being paid too much for what they provide.

In all actuality, I believe the price difference from those 3 to A-Rod is only like 4 Million....Wright kills it though and adds another $6.3 million or so, so you trade from like $21 million to $31 million. Kind of sucks, but you get better players.

For me, it wasn't big, as it was only like an extra $100,000 per game or something like that. I was still making money, so I considered it win-win. I hated losing Huff, but A-Rod is a little better, so it works out.

I had Huff at 1B, now my infield looks like:

3B: A-Rod

SS: Upton

2B: Weeks (got him and Fielder from Milwaukee)

1B: Phelps vs L / Conway vs R (signed Conway from FA) or Gibbons vs R

Aquired Jay Gibbons and Brian Roberts from Baltimore for Danny Bautista and Roberto Alomar.

Hey goose do you play every game? Or do you sim a game every now and then to even the stats out? I am wondering what I should do with my royals owner mode.

You can always play as the manager. I have an owner mode devoted to Manageering.

I've played every single game. I haven't had to sim to even stats out, I have the game set perfectly realstic to where things are even out.

I love this game!!!!!!

Quick update:

Bell pitched 7 shutout innings today against the Chi Sox while striking out 5 in getting his 10th win of the season. His era dippeds just under 2 at 1.99 as he remains my best pitcher at 10-2. :)

Also Gonzalez up until yesteday has had absolutely no home runs. Well he has been teeing off against the sox hitting 2 homers and 8 rbis in the last 2 games.

Jermi Gonzalez made his second apperance of the year pitching 2/3 of an inning before giving up a three run bomb to the Big Hurt.

Quick update:

Roberto Alomar is now 1 stolen base away from 500.

I sold out my third game of the year against the tigers.

And I made a roster move. I promoted Pat Snow from A to AA and demoted Bud Woods from AA to A

Snow: 12-2 1.08 wea 95 k

Woods: 2-6 5.18 era 73 k

Edit to add:

On July 8th 2005 Roberto Alomar reached a milestone by joing the 500 stolen base club by stealing bases number 500 and 501 against the Detroit Tigers.

Also I made one more roster move.Travis Harper came off of the 15 day dl so I had to move him onto the bench. As a result I sent back down Jermi Gonzalez to AAA.During his brief stint in the majors he pitched 4 innings, had a era of 6.75 and struck out 2.

Also I sold out back to back games against the Tigers!!!!

I now have 4 sold out games!

Edit to Add Part II:

Ended the first half on a positive note, sweep a four game series from the Tigers. I am 6-4 for July so far.

Made one more roster move before the break. At the reccomendation of my coaches I promoted Matt Seanez from A to AA and demoted Luis Delgado from AA to A.

Seanez:.318 12 HR 37 Rbi 28 SB

Delgado:.250 3 HR 14 rbi

The 2005 Home Run Derby

Since MVP 2005 doesnt have the HMD :angry::angry: I made one of my own. I took the top 8 home run hitters from each league. I put them against each other (CPU vs CPU) and they go at it in the home run showdown with 10000 feet. Now instead of farthest the winner is who hits the most homeruns. In the event of a tie the winner is the one who reached 10000 first.

Here is how it is played.

Round 1- All particiapants go and the top 4 from each league will advance-10000 ft

Round 2-All Particapants go agaian and the top 4 overall advance10000 ft

Semi-Finals-The particiapant with the most and least homers go at it head to head, as well as the middle two.Winners advance to the finals- 75000 ft

Finals. The person with the most homers wins!!!-1 mile

Note:Because Paul Konerko and Scott Rolen were tied with the 8th particiapants in their repsected leagues they went at it head to head to decide the final participant in a 10000ft match. Scott Rolen won 12 to 10.

Round 1(Season HRs shown in "()")

Would have been funny if Matt Stairs had won the derby. One question. How is Kristopher Morales doing in your minors? Thats Delmon Young, Dmitiri's superstar in waiting brother. I don't remember how they have him rated in 2005, but I know he's a "Top 100 Prospect".

Edit to add:

Ironicly after I played the first game of the second half I got an email from one of my coaches about Delmon. They reccommened I bring him up to AAA so I did.

You have his stats there so I wont post them again.

Demoted from AAA to AA Gerald Pena:.219/3 homers/21 rbi

Also I beat the Blue Jays 3-2 in the first game of the second half increaing my winning streak to 5 games.they finally started posting the wildcard standings and the Yankees are in the lead with the Red Sox and the Twins 3 games behind them.the A's are 4 games back as tehy have won a league high 10 straight now and are 1 game back of the M's.Boy we all remember the 20 games streak they had in 2002.

Also the Cy Young and MVP race is posted.

The top 5 Cy young candidates are:

1.Rob Bell(TB)

2.Mark Hendrickson(TB)

3.Curt Schillng

4.Travis Harper(TB)

5.Mark Buehlre

The top 5 MVP candidates are:

1.Gary Sheffield

2.Manny Rameriz

3.Ichiro

4.A-Rod

5.Carl Crawford(TB)

Also Rocco Baldelli is 9th in the MVP race

Rob Bell continued his Cy Young like performance by winning by pitching 5 innings, giving up 7 hits, 1 run and strikeing out 5 for his 12th win.

Winning streak is now at 6, but the Yanks are keeping pace, winners of 5 in a row themselves.

And the A's streak continues at 11! 8O

And for a bit of more good news Harper is back in the pen!!! I can feel the momentum shifting my way for the first time in a month and a half.

Goose, as a Mariners you got to be hating how EA rated Ichiro. I mean look .309 13 homers! He had 8 last year! His power should be in the 30s because with the amount of contact they give him he will have a ton of hits and some are bound to be jacks.. Now that I look at it, they messed up others. Look at Rollins and Kaz Matsui! I might have to abandon my royals dynasty and clean some stuff up.

Yeh I noticed that a while back and have been meaning to fix it. Now that you reminded me I'll do it now.

He should be hitting about .360-.400 with like 4 or 5 homers

Quick update:

Lost the last game of the series to the Blue Jays, then got swept by the Red Sox.And because of that I'm now a .500 team on the road (25-25).

Coming into the series opener at home against the Orioles, the Yankees beat the Angels 4-1 to move into a tie with me at first place. So I needed a win to stay on top. With Hendrickson on the mound I was confident.

Hendrickson pitched 5 solid innings of shutout ball with 3 runs to back him up when everthing went wrong.

First up Dave Newhan, who I struck out.Next up Lopez who on a hanging curveball ruins the shutout with a bomb to dead center.I shrug it off and go after Tjedada who on a fastball inside slams one to left, Crawford jumps on the wall to catch it and it just goes over his glove.BACK to BACK homers.Sosa up now.I'm thinking there is no way they are gonna go 3 in a row, but on an excellent changeup outside they do with Sosa hitting one way out left.BACK to BACK to BACK home runs to tie the game.At this time i have guy warming up.By the time the innings is over Hendrickson had given up 5 runs. :?

The game ended up being 8-3 as for the first time since the middle of April I am not in first place, a half game back of the Yankees and 2.5 games up on the Sox in the Wild Card race.

this is an interesting read. i'm not so far into the season as you w/ my nationals owner dynasty. let me ask this: have you found the games get more competitive the deeper the season goes? just curious. right now my nationals are running away with it about 30 games in. i'm playing on all star with tweaked sliders, not hitting a ton of bombs but i keep finding a way to win a lot of games. it looks like you were in the same situation early on. thanks.

I can 100% confirm that "getting more competitive" comment. My Rockies were at times as many as 5 1/2 games ahead, leading the Division. As posted now at All-Star Break, I am still above .500, but 3 games behind now, crazy.

Oh yeah definitly.I've played alot of baseball games and in all of them the season has always been either unrealisticly easy where I am ahead in the division by at least 15 games and am never really in a division race, or unrealisticly hard to where I can never win and am always in the cellar.

MVP 2005 however is completely realistic and I love it!!! Yeh in april I started to run away but that was because I was still adjusting sliders. But by the end of April or so I had them like I wanted.

Now with the bad June I had and the so-so July to where the Yankees and Red Sox are making it a three team race its really really competivtive.Like in this last game when Hendrickson gave up thoes 3 back to back to back homers I was going nuts because I knew the Yankees won earlier. It's very intense and hellah fun!!!!! :p

guess you and i were posting at the same time so i did not realize you had left me a reply LOL! yeah i've been playing baseball games since the atari days (sure have come a LONG way since then LOL) and this game just rocks. every game i see a new little "something" a bobbled ball, line drives off the base etc. i agree it is great.

i looked at your sliders and will use them as a reference point. right now i'm tweaked a little. user power is at -10 and contact at -10 cpu power the opposite. still feel i'm going deep a little TOO much. but possibly it's the nationals have a bit more power than the drays. hr come from the expected sources : castilla, vidro, wilkerson, guillen just worried i'm on too quick a pace. other guys like chavez etc . are sitting w/ 1 maybe 2 hr thru 30+ games. need to mess w/ the pitching difficulty as well.

thanks for the reply, good read again. do you play any of your minor league games?

Not really.About the only time I ever do is when my coaches recommend a pitcher thats needs to be moved up, so I pitch his next start to get a feel for him. I was going to play alot of them because they are fun as well, but I relized a season would take way too long if i did.

These ratings are very good, but I'm having a reoccuring theme with these ratings. Seems like 95% of my games end with me blowing a 2-3 run lead halfway in the game and losing. Is there anything I can adjust that might stop these from happening? I'm playing on the PC version and using the keyboard for controls. It does get a bit frustrating having to blow leads over and over and over...

These ratings are very good, but I'm having a reoccuring theme with these ratings. Seems like 95% of my games end with me blowing a 2-3 run lead halfway in the game and losing. Well I'd reccomend ditching the keyboard for one, the game is unplayable with one IMHO.

Second what team are you playing with? I've found these to be extremely realistic so mabye your playing with a team that just has a bad bullpen.

Third I'd reccomend just experiementing and tweaking the sliders to whatever suits you.It took me almost a full month into my dyansty until I got them the way I wanted them.

Also I'll post an update of sorts later today. For now I'll say damn you Tim Wakefield and its now a three team race.
