Voicebox: Open-Source AI Generated Kuiper & Krukow Audio for MVP 2005

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

For years, creating player audio for MVP Baseball has been one of the most time-consuming and frustrating parts of modding. That changes today.

In recent days, an open-source artificial intelligence called Voicebox has been released.

After using several apps of this kind, I’ve found that Voicebox is a great option for cloning the voices of Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow. Additionally, this AI runs locally on your computer, with no subscriptions or payments required.

To do this, I recorded a few Kuiper voice clips with a duration of 30 seconds, which is the maximum allowed by this AI. Here's the .mp3 file I used so you can generate his voice as well. The AI will also ask you for the audio transcript, which is included below so you can simply copy and paste it.

Here's the game's first batter, Jerry Owens. And the game is underway, a great day to play, not a cloud in the sky.
Three pitches, three strikes. This guy isn't great against righthanded pitching but he does alright. Out of the zone that's a ball. Hit to left field and he puts it away for the out. He snow cones it for the out!

Once Kuiper's voice generation is complete, the AI will begin installing Qwen3-TTS, a 3+ GB file. After that, you’ll be able to generate unlimited audio for free. In my case, it takes approximately five minutes to generate the audio from the prompt entered.

Player names:

This new tool will drastically reduce the time required to create player audio while maintaining proper pronunciation and fluidity, something that didn’t exist in the past due to the tedious process of extracting the original MVP 05 files and mixing them.

This way, we’ll be able to produce (in record time) the three audio clips each player has: Kuiper full name, Kuiper last name, and Krukow last name. The same applies to creating team names for Total Conversion Mods and updating stadium names. The possibilities are endless.

I’m sharing this so we can start experimenting and take MVP Baseball to the next level in terms of name narration fluidity.

Feel free to share any progress or experiments you make with this AI or any other.

Thank you @omardj38 for introducing me to this tool!

I don't know what to say. This is beautiful!! I am especially impressed with how Kuiper said Yoshinobu Namamoto as if his name was part of the original out-of-the-box assortment of players that were said by Kuiper and Krukow.

Thank you Hector and thank you to Omardj38 for showing you this. I got a feeling this is really going to take off.

Does this mean that in addition to player names, the play-by-play could also be updated?

It can be updated, but I wouldn’t recommend it, as play-by-play audio files are extremely sensitive to modify. Player names (booth and PA), stadium names, and team names are much safer to edit.

So with this it would make it easier to create audio from classic teams? for example: the audio files for the Montreal Expos???

Yes! We can create audio files for the teams, for example, if there’s a Total Classics mod with the 1994 Montreal Expos a “The 1994 Montreal Expos” audio can be done on this AI (or any team name). This can also be used to update minor league team audios, and other Total Conversion mods like MVP Caribe, Asia, Cuba and so on.

This is a great discovery and a great improvisation for the game!

Congrats!

Ok gotcha, either way, it's great news for the entire community of this amazing game.
