First off, if you're running Vista, drivers install automatically. In fact, go to Windows Update and there's brand new drivers published in Sept 08! There is no need for XBCD.

Here are the steps:

1 Plug in the wired XBOX360 controller.

2 Let drivers automatically load.

3 Go to Windows Update to get the Sept 08 drivers.

3b Delete your current controller.cfg file, let's make a new one!

4 Run MVP2005, go into options and save a controller configuration. This will create your new .cfg file in your Documents folder.

5 Exit the game, go to your Documents folder, open the controller.cfg with notepad.

Leave this area of text ALONE:

profile= Controller_(XBOX_360_For_Windows)

device= Controller_(XBOX_360_For_Windows)

player= 1

number_of_buttons= 10

number_of_povs= 1

number_of_axis= 5

This is specific to YOUR computer. MVP05 recognizes your XBOX360 controller with this information, if you use someone else's cfg, do not replace this text.

And there you have it. You should be able to map your buttons properly now. The problem with sharing our cfg files is that each computer identifies the 360 controller with a different name. So the top 6 lines of text are KEY. They are yours, don't touch them! Good luck!

I'm so glad to hear it! I reformatted my computer this week, so I had to reverse engineer this whole process.

Going through this thread was a headache, and so was trying to figure out XBCD. Good luck to future MVPmod gamers- I don't want any of you playing this game with the wrong button configuration!

It is amazing how easy this is when you follow this step. I completely understand why so many people think everyone is an idiot and so many people can't understand why things work for one person and not the other. One issue I'm having is remapping the in-game window for shifts, substitutions, etc. I don't see the line in the controller config file.

Aaaaaaand nevermind. I remapped the buttons titled cross, circle, square, and something else, and it changed by itself.

From my understanding, that only works for the wired controller. Is there anything I need to do for the wireless that is different or should I just go buy a different controller for my PC?

Heey you could try buying a battery pack and charger then you get a wire and can plug it in on youre pc.

Also comes in handy on youre xbox never need batteries again.

The wireless controller works just fine. I use it.

Two things you need to make sure of is A) update the drivers for the controller and turn the controller on BEFORE you run the game!!!!! if you dont the game does not read the controller.

I think I finally fixed my controller. I deleted the XBCD drivers and let XP install the controller as normal. It detected it as an XBOX 360 controller.

Two problems, though.

1) no drag bunt when clicking down on right analog stick

2) the vibration function is now gone

Anyone know a quick way to fix this?

The thing is, my controller used to work with full functioning everything. I was able to drag bunt and had vibration.

Then I installed MLB 2k9, realized all my buttons were mapped terribly wrong and since then it doesn't work right.

Yes, that's what I did but the problem I have isn't button mapping anymore. It is the lack of rumble support and the fact that the drag bunt option no longer works.
