datafile outfielders..

most datafiles are great but w/the of's moved back, they get virtually everything to the wall and three feet over. Would you slow them down (which would cause them to get even fewer shallow fly balls), move them in (i dont know how to do), or increase the cpu's power(maybe the'll get to the wall faster)....any ideas?????

If you are adept at editing the datafile, the outfielder depth is pretty easy to fix.

Here's the section in question:

0xeab27fc1 9 12;2 LeftAngleDeg;1 LeftDepth%;6 RightField;7 RightDepth%;0 LeftField;3 CenterField;8 RightAngleDeg;4 CenterDepth%;5 CenterAngleDeg;

You want to be changing the values at 1 (LF), 7(RF), and 4(CF), they are percentages of the total distance to the wall which allows for variances in park dimensions.

So, as you can see, in a standard set up for a LH batter the LF is at 75%, the RF is at 75% and the CF is at 78%. I'm pretty sure these numbers are from one of my mods where I had moved them all back 5%...adjust as you see fit.

The thing I did was just increased OF speed in the sliders +2 hum and cpu. that at least got rid of most of the bloop flies that would land in front of your fielder, but you still get the odd one.

I think you have to just open it in notepad.

It's not quite that simple, you have to decompress it, edit it with a text editor (Notepad doesn't work well because of the sheer size of the file, try Wordpad), and then recompress it.

That link that xiberger provided is a great utility for datafile editing.

oh yeah, this datafile no longer do homeruns blast off. the announcer might say its way out of here but the ball barely make it or land at a realistic location. Some may think that it would cut down on their homerun output, but the last several games with it I hit several back to back jacks and some I hit a solo here and another in another inning. I just won my last game on a three run homer by konerko off of colon in the bottom of the eigth inning to win 3-1. it was awesome. It was a high soaring fly ball to left center. Announcer said way out of here, ball landed just a few feet over the fence.
