Why Baseball Annoys Me:

I'll list a few reasons:

Constant Rule Changes

The Yankees Torpedo Bats (I guess they need them because they don't, or can't hit enough home runs). Torpedo bats may be legal but is it cheating?

Juan Soto is entirely overrated and makes way too much. He will strike out plenty just like every single player in history has. I mean, come on. Ridiculous. I'll add more later. I know Jaun Soto is old news but I had to put that on the record.

Remind me which AL East team you are a fan of.  Your poke at the Yankees tells me it’s definitely not them.  

 

Also, remind me when the Yankees added Adley Rutschman, Dansby Swanson, Elly De La Cruz or any of the other players on the list below to their roster (and note that this list is from April 18th):

I haven’t read anything about torpedo bats since the first week of the season. If they were making that big of an impact, you’d still be reading stories about them.  Pitchers seem to have adjusted to them.

Nobody deserves the money that Juan Soto makes, but there are plenty of players with huge contracts that don’t deserve them. &nbsp
 

Are NFL quarterbacks or NBA players making $50 million per year worth it?  Teams will pay whatever they can to get the best players, no matter the sport.  It’s just the world we live in today.

I don't have a problem with the bats as long as everyone can use them if they want.

If there is some unfair advantage that that becomes apparent in their widespread use, they should get banned for the good of the game.

1. The designated hitter.

 

2. Interleague play.

 

3. Pitchers only being able to throw to first base twice. Can you imagine how many more bases Rickey Henderson would have stolen?

 

4. Not being able to run into the catcher anymore.

 

5. That damned Ghost runner.

 

6. Pitchers must face at least three batters before being taken out.

Jim, I have not heard any more about these torpedo bats since the opening week of the season. If these bats were all that that were made out to be then the Rockies would have purchased a dozen of them for everyone on their team. It’s not the name of the bat. It’s who is holding them.

2. new uniforms every year

3. retail on-field uniforms are unaffordable

4. getting into the sport is unaffordable (go ask a dad how much a BBCOR certified bat costs or how much a Rawlings Heart of The Hide glove costs)

5. The Sacramento A's

6. The Rays somehow not working out a long term solution with staying in Tampa or even repairing Tropicana Field

7. Rob Manfred still remaining comissioner

8. The impending lockout

I detest the second base runner in extra innings rule. Everything these days seems designed to protect these precious, coddled pitchers who are getting paid 10-30 million a year to throw four innings in the case of starters, and one inning in the case of relievers. Maybe if they hadn't been ridden like horses when they were 12 in travel ball and hadn't had Tommy John surgery at 19 or 20, they'd be more durable. Hard to believe the evolution of the game has changed so much in 20-30 years that pitchers can't go 7-8 innings anymore. The pitchers are absolutely babied in modern baseball.
