  1. It's not much, but I've been playing around with a couple of uniforms. Here's my hometown Cincinnati Bearcats and my alma mater, DIII Berea College out of little old Berea, Kentucky.

Hey y'all. Been a while since I've been in the modding community. Given the success of the NCAA MVP Mod and my newfound knowledge of modding 2K, I'd like to announce my idea for NCAA Baseball 2k. Similar to the MVP version, we can use many of the stadiums already in the game. Rosters will be generic randomly generated names and faces. I don't have a release date.

    What I'll need help with:

    Uniforms

    Artwork

    Equipment (Aluminum Bats?)

    Audio

Below are the stadiums I've picked. I'd also like to modify a couple more, but the biggest one I'd like to make is TD Ameritrade of the College World Series. I know we've cracked the code on stadium modding, if anyone has any experience I'd appreciate the help.

    MLB Parks:

    AT&T Park: Cal Baseball Classic

    Busch Stadium: Illinois vs. Missouri

    Camden Yards: Army vs. Navy

Chase Field: Arizona vs Arizona State

Citizens Bank Park: Liberty Bell Classic

Comerica Park: Central Michigan vs Michigan State

Dodger Stadium: Dodgertown College Baseball Classic

    Fenway Park: Baseball Beanpot

    Globe Life Park: UT Arlington

Great American Ballpark: Reds Collegiate Classic

Kauffman Stadium: College Hall of Fame Classic

    Marlins Park: FIU vs Miami

Raley Field (AAA West): Sacramento State/UC Davis

Dr. Pepper Ballpark (AA South): Frisco College Baseball Classic

Lawrence-Dumont Stadium (AA Central): Wichita State

    City Park: Florida Generic

AA East: Appalachian Area (BIG10) Generic

    AA Central: Midwest Generic

Just my 2c, but since the number of stadiums seems daunting and stadium modders aren't around like they used to be, wouldn't releasing a "beta" of sorts (with the stadiums that are done) be advisable?  My concern would be freeze-ups with all of the modding going on.  Get the community to give feedback on any freeze-ups they are experiencing with this.

Also, I have some global ranges for rosters that I've incorporated with mine in the past if you're interested in using them.

So about the crashing. Most of the crashing issues are associated with the models.big file size. As we are using just generic faces, the majority of cyberfaces can be removed. After removing the cyberfaces and repacking the models.big file in my own experiments I have found that crashing occurs a lot less often.

As for stadiums, quite a few already exist and just need minor changes. But as Roy stated, the plan is to use existing stadiums (mostly minor league parks) to make these, so it is really just an issue of some graphical edits.

I agree with Roy though, a public Beta seems counterproductive at this time. We have spent 2 years off and on making this come together and I only see fit to release it in polished, final form.

  4. Next up: Robin Baggett Stadium in San Luis Obispo, California. Home of the Cal Poly Mustangs and 2014 NCAA Regional Host. Based off a stadium from MVP Caribe with permission. I will also be making a night version with more neutral branding for the Regionals version.

  5. I sent you a PM, but the biggest help I need is the stadiums. Here is the list. Completed Stadiums in BOLD, In Progress in ITALICS.

The list looks overwhelming, but many of the stadiums are based on older minor league parks in the downloads section. I also have permission from SALVA to use MVP Caribe stadiums as a base if needed. If you do decide to knock one on the list out, send me a message please.

  6. As many of the folks who have been around here for a while know, a full NCAA mod has been kicked around a few times with no real progress. Well I am proud to share what myself and Rroy0824 have been working on for the past couple of years.

    What this mod has:

Teams: We have 124 of the top college baseball teams in the country replacing every single playable team in MVP 05.

Uniforms: Uniforms for every team in the mod with accurate number fonts, including alternates. (Currently about 90% done)

Equipment: Authentic aluminum bats will replace all of the wooden bats in the game.

Stadiums: While we can't get every single stadium into the game, we can get the "best of the best", as well as the many neutral sites (Stadium list to follow below)

College World Series: Both Rosenblatt Stadium and the new TD Ameritrade Park will be in the mod, and included will be a dynasty save file with the final 8 teams in the CWS.

Artwork: Thanks to Yankee4Life we have lots of hi-res photos to use for various loading and background screens.

    What this mod doesn't have:

Rosters: To make the roster making process a lot faster, we imported various teams and players from the Layman Database in MVPedit and renamed the players to randomized names with randomized characteristics. Rroy0824 did lots of research to import teams with similar attributes to their real-life counterparts. The roster is 100% complete.

Portraits: To make this easier, we aren't assigning or making portraits for anyone. Everyone will have a portrait ID value of 0.

Audio: I know very little about audio. The biggest need is the replace the sound of a wooden bat with an aluminum sound. Everything else is low priority.

Stadiums: It is impossible to create a stadium for every single team, so I created a master list of stadiums and which slots they will use (again, see below). This is the biggest area left of the mod and the area we need the most help in.

Dynasty: Dynasty play is not available, but as mentioned before, you will be able to play the final rounds of the College World Series.

    Where we need help:

So far, this has been a mostly two-man operation, but any help in creating artwork, logos, and most importantly stadiums would be appreciated. Screenshots of what we do have will be in subsequent posts. If you want to help mod and test things out, let us know! Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more info!

For a small tease, here are the stadium select screens I've created for some of the stadiums we have completed...

I guess I'm late to the party and better late than never ...

I preface my remarks with that I come from Philadelphia, and Rose helped bring the city it's first World Series title. Nobody busted their @$$ more between the chalk lines than Charlie Hustle. AND my wife's family is from the Columbus area and are lifelong Reds fans, which makes the next paragraph less popular around the Xmas dinner table ...

There is ONE rule posted in EVERY professional baseball clubhouse (I've seen it in at least 5 places), it's the one about not betting on baseball if you play baseball. Pete broke it. Then he lied about it for ~20 years until it became profitable to admit it and sell the book. It's one thing to break the rule, it's another to continually lie for 20 years about it and I don't know which one is worse. MLB has banned Rose, and the HOF has a hand-in-hand policy that no player under a ban from MLB will be allowed to grace its halls. I think Pete wants his ban overturned not so much for the Hall than to be able to be around the game again, as a coach or instructor or one of these contrived "special associate advisor to the General Manager" titles, kinda like what Don Zimmer did for the Yankees and Rays or Yogi Berra did for the Astros for many years. But it can't happen. Kudos to Rob Manfred. Now excuse me while I try to dig out of my wife and in-law's doghouse.

You hit the nail right on the head.

  8. Does everyone know that the Hall of Fame and MLB are two separate entities? Sure they are closely linked but being banned from participating in professional baseball isn't the same as being banned from the Hall. But as a lifelong Reds fan that grew up with the poster of the 1976 Reds on my wall here are my two cents. Rose sat down and agreed to that ban right? Not only did he blatantly maintain a LIE for decades while continuing the same behavior that got him banned, he only came clean when he got a book deal and could make money off his "confession." If he really gave a crap about getting reinstated he would have came clean years ago. Let's not pretend he didn't have plenty of opportunities to do so.

  9. So, I'm playing around with editing some stadiums, and the only thing that really bugs me is seeing the players sitting halfway out of the dugout on on the field, or not showing at all. I think I have to edit the datafile for the specific stadium to fix this, but what values do I edit specifically?

  10. We have it similar here in the Detroit area. Not like "Chili" like a Cincy style but finely ground beef in coney sauce with mustard and onion. You may have had one. If you're ever in the area stop in an authentic Coney Island and you won't be disappointed. It's where the coney started! Gotta have it with Koegel's!

That's pretty much what Cincinnati chili is. Though if you are ever in town, Skyline and Gold Star are the two chains but the best in my humble opinion is a local joint called Camp Washington Chili.
