universal grass changer v1.1 UPLOADED

uploaded - get it here: http://www.mvpmods.com/index.php?name=Down...details&id=1880

This mod will replace the grass in EVERY stadium with a minimized texture that should eliminate all shimmering grass.

This version is really looking pretty solid - I think even people who are having little or no shimmering might want to give this one a try. It definitely gives a cleaner and (imho) a more pleasing look to the game.

New for ver1.1:

1) Fixed the weird, blinking "seem" between grass and infield dirt in all stadiums except: RFK (dark line above seem), Kauffman (no "sgra" file - the file that controls seem), and Create-a-Stadium (weird light-green line that appears in parts of seem even in unmodded version). Also, SBC park is still a little strange due to the high contrast between the dark grass and the very light infield dirt - I didn't want to change the unique character of the field by reducing the contrast, but it is still an improvement over ver1.0.

2) Improved the pattern and texture for RFK significantly. I think it looks great and is a big improvement, but there is still a problem with the seem between grass and infield dirt as noted above.

3) Improved the pattern and texture for Skydome.

4) Improved the pattern and texture for Tropicana. Some people might not be crazy about this one, but I think the change does better reflect the matted look of Fieldturf at the Trop.

*******Very big thanks to Trues and paulw for the idea and info about adjusting stadium grass and texture to help reduce shimmering. TYVM guys.*******

Instructions for installation are included in the readme file.

This fix should not interfere with any other mods u have on on your stadiums, but USE AT YOUR OWN RISK AND REMEMBER TO BACK UP YOUR FILES.

please post your comments, suggestions, screenshots here. I have some screenshots of my own that I will post shortly - please let me know if you have any requests for a specific stadium screenshot and I will post asap.

raindelay, would this mess up The H's skyscraper design in Renegade's Shea stadium mod?

yes, but...

JoltinJoe's suggestion is probably the easiest solution or u can copy Five's shea stadium file to somewhere like "my documents"; install this mod and then copy five's shea from "my documents" to your stadium file in MVP.

i just installed your mod, and daaamn, this is one of the greatest mods. the grass/turf looks sick, and excellent stuff on all of the domes (skydome, the trop, and the metrodome). The seams finally look good, keep up the the good work man.

Great job rain, you've actually made the grass not hideous to look at, which is impressive. I may tone down the brightness a bit, but other than that it's pretty much perfect.

Thanks a bunch.

kicko, just copy your MVP "stadium" folder (found in: MVP Baseball 2005/data) to somewhere like "My Documents" ...then install mod and if you do not like it simply place the stadium folder in "My Documents" back into the mvp/data folder...

If after you install the mod you like some stadiums but don't like others then you can grab the individual stadium FILES contained in the stadium folder you placed in "My documents" and place into MVP (MVP Baseball 2005/data/stadium...). GL and let me know if you need anymore help.

And ty guys for the very kind words :)

I have to admit, I was a little hesitant when I saw this download thinking it would create havoc with my game, but now I am glad I downloaded it. It looks beautiful, and I played more than one stadium and was in awe in every one.

PS-No wonder EA release a half-@ssed game, you modders do all the work for them. Buy hey, keep it up. :p

i think the only ones that bug me are the domed stadiums, can i just replace those?

PS what about the grass from 04 can that be used or is it all different this year?

yes, you can just replace the domed stadiums by editing the .bat -gCHANGER.bat- (as bill suggested) before you run it...just remove all the lines with stadiums that you don't want to change and keep the lines with domed stadiums... then save the .bat and double-click it to run.

...or, if you are uncomfortable editing the .bat file, then you can back-up your stadium folder as i suggested in previous post. Then, install mod, and then move the new modded stadium folder to some place other than your copy of original stadium (perhaps in another folder in "My Documents"). Next move your copy of original stadium folder back into the game. Now you can simply copy the individual stadium files you want from the copy of the modded stadium folder back into MVP.

hope that is clear - gl and let me know if u need anymore help.

This is great work, raindelay7. I checked RFK first, because you said you weren't totally happy with the seam still showing, and it is still a tremendous piece of work---the seam is almost unnoticable. The other stadiums are even better. Thank you for the HUGE change in the look and feel of the stadiums.

Just wanted to add another positive reaction to this mod. I've only played in two of the stadiums so far, but I love it. I can see the ball coming off the bat much better, and the install was totally painless. Everybody should at least try this one.

Excellent work, Rain. Now all we need is a universal sky changer. :D

Erm... is Tropicana Field supposed to look like it does, with those big patches of light color everywhere? It has changed from v1.0, but... it looks wierd to me.

Other than that, I love it!

EDIT: BTW, I installed v1.1 right over top of v1.0 -- this is ok, right? It seems to have worked.
