heathd521
Steve Irwin Dies For those to lazy to click the link, Steve Irwin, aka The Crocodile Hunter, was killed when a stingray barb went through his chest. I'm actually kind of in shock and don't even know what to say.
Kccitystar
It's an unfortunate accident, however as tragic as it is, Irwin must have known that it is a dangerous job handling live and wild animals, and incidents like these come with the territory. However a stingray barb is no joke, as it can pierce through anything
jonyrotten
I am a degreed wildlife Biologist, Ecologist and I teach Biology and I still learn from that nut, he was much more than a "Naturalist" "Yeah, I'm a thrill seeker, but crikey, education's the most important thing." thespungo
Is it just me, or was anyone else disappointed that the crocodile was not killed by an actual live crocodile? I mean, to spend your entire life tackling crocodiles on the tv and then die when a stingray stings you... what a letdown.

JoeyMcM93
It had to be a STINGRAY. Wasn't a croc or even a snake. It was a sting ray. But seriously, what a way to go, bitten by a stingray. Prayers go out to him and his family.
NYM
He was stung by a stingray, not bitten. They are extremenly poisonous, but not fatal to human, most of the time. Problem was is that it punctured his heart.
michaeljjt
Steve Irwin Dies For those to lazy to click the link, Steve Irwin, aka The Crocodile Hunter, was killed when a stingray barb went through his chest. I'm actually kind of in shock and don't even know what to say. When my mom told me this morning, i was kinda in shock too. But the first words out of my mouth were: "well I guess it had to happen eventually" Not a criticism by any means. Just that, wow that guy had some amazing luck over the years....shocking that he never lost a limb or had any major injuries that kept him out of action. And to have your career, and your life ended by something that is so rarely a killer...thats the part thats really ironic. Its a shame also to lose someone who had such exuberance and really enjoyed their work, and really enjoyed sharing their work with others.

MarkB
Newspapers here reported that he was stung through the chest and the barb actually stung him straight in the heart. Crazy, mad, wild, or not - the guy had cojones the size of medicine balls. I'll miss him. R.I.P. Steve.
