After 2 years of dissapointing attendance in Baltimore and the defection of John McGraw
to the national league the time was right to transfer the Orioles team to NY.
On April 8 1903 the NY Americansor Highlanders played thier first game at
Hilltop Park.Again they wore normal unis for this time of the era.White and Black
were the trim colors.White cap with black stripes down the seams, black stockings
and large black shirt collar.A large black N and Y on the right and left breast. The road
jersey was the reverse image. For 1904 the same design stayed but the color changed
from black to dark blue. For 1905 the NY was merged changed to a monogram on the left breast.
In 1909 new uniforms incorporated new features, red stripes on navy blue socks and
the now legendary Yankee monogram made its first appearance on the cap and
left sleeve.By this time the new nickname "Yankees" was now used as often as the "Highlanders"
and was only a few years away from become the official name.In 1911 another
significant feature appeared on the road uni as the city name appeared on the greys.
1912 was the last year to be played at Hilltop Park(which was the inspiration for the name"Highlanders"
By this time though the name yankees was was more or less the official name
and other feature was introduced ,yes u got "PINSTRIPES".A myth that had been the Yankees wer
the first to use pinstripes but is untru as a few teams had allready used them in MLB.
Another myth was owner Col Jacob Ruppert selected pinstripes to offset the huge
appearance of George Herman Ruth but when the first yankee wore pinstripes"the Babe"
was still in an orphanage and Babe didnt wear a Yankee uniform until 1920.1923 marked the
opening of Yankee stadium and nicknamed "the house that Ruth built".In 1927 the team was
considered to be the mightiest of all time. The road had capital"NEW YORK" with "YANKEES" as
the home uni. This uni lasted until 1930.But a year earlier the Yankees established a precedent
by being the first team to put numbers on the back of thier uniforms. This caught on
fast and became a standard for all teams by 1932.For all the years that Babe Ruth
played for the Yankees he never wore the uniform that u see today. The uniform u see now
became the permanent style in 1936,the year after Babe left the Yankees.
The year that things almost changed.
From 1936 to the current 2012 uniform the Yankees have never changed thier
uniform(not counting patches that were worn for special occasions)
BUUUUUT in 1974 that almost changed. Most fans are not aware that the
Yankees almost changed tradition of road greys in 1974.Former PR director
Marty Appel wrote a book in 2001 called"Now pitching for the Yankees"
and this is a following passage from that book
"In 1974 I walked into [then-general manager] Gabe Paul's office to find samples
of new Yankee road uniforms draped across his sofa. They were the opposite of
the home pinstripes -- they were navy blue with white pinstripes. The NY logo
was in white. Gabe liked them. I nearly fainted. ... I think my dramatic disdain
helped save the day and saved the Yankees from wearing those awful pajamas
    on the field."
In an interview Marty was asked what he had said to Gabe Paul
and Marty replyed: I said something like, "Oh my God, you're not seriously
considering this, are you? This would be a disaster!" Because, you know, the gray
"New York" jersey is iconic in its own right.
so NY fans were saved from this disaster and everyone was saved from having severe eye strain

The WhiteSox have the most rich source of uniforms out of any ML baseball team.
Thier long history of uniforms is very interesting.
Charles Comiskey transfered his "Western League St Paul"franchise to the hallowed
NL territory of Chicago for the 1900 season. The Chicago Nationals felt only mildly
threatened by the competition since the renamed "American League" was
still a minor league. The newcomers played thier games on the distant southside
of town.Comiskey agreed not to display the city name "Chicago" on his
uniforms but adopted the abandoned name "White Stockings" from the early
dynasty of the NL Chicagoeans. The invaders promptly won the AL pennant in 1900
and league president Ben Johnson boldly declared that the AL was now a major league
for the 1901 season.Comiskys first ML uniforms were standard white and grey
with a large square maroon "C" on the left breast and of course white stockings.
Since the west side team were strictly second division chicago fans started paying
more attention to the south siders. They repeated the same home uni but Comiskey
reneged on his word(it was all out war by now)he displayed the city name on his all dark blue
road unis. The league and the franchise were in the windy city to stay.
For 1903 some interesting changes were displayed as the white stockings became
a blue with a 4 inch wide white band.In June 1910 the White Sox played thier
last game at south side park and opened in thier new baseball palace Comiskey Park.
In 1912 the teams best known emblem design in teams history was first displayed
on the uniform. The large "S" encircling a small "O" and "X" was positioned on the left breast.
After a 2nd place finish in 1916 the Sox were once again a solid contender.By 1917
the home unis had standardized the team insignia and pinstripes.a small american flag
wasworn on the left sleeve to symbolize baseballs support for the war effort.The'17'
road uni took a bizzare reverse pinstripes with white stripes on solid blue fabric.
Sure enough they won the pennant and showed up to the "17" world series against
John McGraws Giants in a specially designed star spangled red white and blue variation
of thier home unis.Even the sacred tradition of all white socks was temporaily violated
with a red white and blue stripe. They came dressed for a cotume party and left with a world championship.
Those unis were retired from game use but came to symbolize the most glorious
moment in White Sox history. The Boston RedSox were Chicagos chief rivals for supremacy
in 1918 and reclaimed th AL championship. The WSox stumbled badly to under .500.
The 1918 unis added a feature the "Sox" emblem by adding small white sock silhouettes
inside the "S".This was the first time a pictorial symbol of the team nickname portrayed
    on game uniforms.
In 1919 the team s magic returned as they again met in the world series with the
Cincinnati Reds. The Sox lost but was under a cloud of suspicion and rumors
as a rsult in the infamous "Black Sox" scandal and the WSox dynasty was dismantled
    by cimmisioner Landis.
In the 1930s decade it spelled double depression for the WSox as economic hard times
and the team continued its seemingly permanent residence to the basement
of the AL ladder.A few stars like Luke Appling and Ted lyons helped brighten the gloom somewhat
1932 introduced a new look for the Sox in fact they had 2 versions. The primary
design featured the arrangement of the "SOX" intertwined diagonally with a baseball
and bat worked into the design. The letters were red with a blue outline and the bat was yellow.
This uniform stayed for the next 4 years and was featured in the first "All Star" game
at comiskey park in 1933.The Allstar game was initiated by Arch Ward who was a
sports editor for the "Chicago Tribune".It was to coincide with the citys century of progress
exposition.Ward had the novel idea of a single game made up of the games most
exciting group of baseball players ever assembled. And by the 1930's baseball was
by now established as "Americas favorite pastime" and the exposition was a perfect
time to provide the "perfect"stage to introduce baseballs best to the rest of the country.
Many didnt even believe that a contest of this magnitude would even live up
to the fans expectations, especially to those who in the far west states had never seen a
    major league baseball game.
In 1933 and 1934 the teams were selected by managers and fans. The NL manager was
chosen was John McGraw and the AL manager was Connie Mack. They led players
such as Lou Gehrig,Jimmie Foxx,Al simmons and the one and only Babe Ruth.
"We wanted to see Babe" said Bill Hallahan the NL starter."Sure hes old and a big waistline
but that doesnt make a difference,we were on the same field as Babe Ruth"
With fellow allstar Charlie Gehringer on first in the bottom of the 3rd,the Babe
drove one into the right feild stands, the first homer in all star history. The crowd
according to one account"roared in acclamation" and the first allstar was won
by the AL on the strength of Ruths homer and so the All star game was anresounding success.
And the attendance of the game was 49,200 people to prove that this special moment
in "Americas game" that expectations would be met.
The Sox went thru so many different uniform styles thru the years, from pinstripes, reds
blues, black, zippers ,button ups etc.Probally the most confusing time of Sox unis
is during the 1969 season. The sox were going with the traditional grey but with blue pinstriping,
and white lettering and numbers. It was approved but with the advent of colored TV
and major league braodcasts were in "technicolor"the blue on grey did not show up well.
Most uniform books and sites show the grey but on the baseball cards and some pics they show the powder blue
style thats the white sox decided to go with, royal blue lettering and numbers were used and so these showed up
much better. In 1976 Bill Veeck who was an inovater of so many bizzare ideas ,gave an idea which just for
some reason never caught on.He decided one day and said "hey why dont we wear shorts"
Not sure why it didnt catch on but my guess is the players just was not thrilled
with the turf burns from the sliding effect or what.I think this idea lasted maybe 1 or 2 games.
These unis they wore for the 6 years(shorts not included though)They had 4
different unis during this run.2 home versions and 2 road versions,
The home ones were all white for 1 with dark navy"Chicago",navy cap with a white"sox"
navy stripe down the leg and navy undershirt,But for my uniform files i had to go with
undershirts to see the v neck style on the jerseys. They also had huge navy collars. The alt white
the only difference is they used navy blue pants. The road jerseys were the opposite.
All navy uni with white lettering n numbers, only the all navy road had a white cap and navy bill.
The other road uni had all navy cap and white pants

In 1960 the American league awarded 2 cities as expansion teams. One was Los Angeles
and the other would be in the Twin Cities(Minneapolis and St Paul),but instead of
just expansion the Washington Senators packed thier bags on moved to Minnesota.
This left a void in the expansion and so they awarded Washington the expansion
and for the 1961 The Minnesota Twins,La Angels and Washington Senators would all
be ML franchises. But long before the expansions the original Washington team
became a ML team in 1901.Like other teams the unis were the normal style for that time of
of the era.All trim was black including stockings.2 wide black bands on the pillbox type hat.
"Washington"spelled out on the jerseys.Wanting to disassociate with the defunct
NL Senators of the 1890's the club officially declared themselves as the "Nationals"
for the 1905 season. In 1906 they decided to change thier look for the road jerseys
and changed from the normal grey to black with white trimmings and an old english "W"
on the pocket. The new Nationals fared no better than the teams before them as they stayed
buried at the bottom for the entire decade..As often seems the case with a losing club
uniforms always continued to change every year.As an effort to escape the voodoo of
being a loser the 1907 club restored the capital "W" at home and "Washington"on dark blue
road uniforms.1908 it was back to "Washington" for home then 1909 back to the "W" then 1910
the "W" was used for both home and away.Things looked up for the Nats in 1910 and 1911
as the great Walter Johnson 25 games in both seasons.1912 the team started into the pinstripe
years and began to be contenders. In fact they would win 2 pennants in 1924 and 25 and the
world series in 1924.The pinstripes would last until the 1926 season.
The new uniforms were just plain white and greys with a touch of color on the collar
and sleeve ends. They would also wear a patriotic shield on the left sleeve.Stockings
would be white with 1 red and 1 blue stripe. The cap would be white with red bill and a dark blue"W".
Walter johnson retired after the 1927 season and the team began a couple decades of hardships
and losing seasons, with the exception in 1930.For 25 years they were known for
mostly losing seasons. They were so bad that SF chronicle writer charley Dryden joked,
"Washington:first in war, first in peace and last in the American league"They did contend in 1943
    and 1945
Owner Clark Griffith dies in 1955 and adopted son Calvin took over the team.In 1956 after
after 50 years of being known as the "Nationals" they finally renamed themselves the "Senators"
Even with the name change it did nothing for the team as they still finished in 7th place
and in the next 3 years they narrowly kept from losing 100 games(99-91-93 concestutivly)
Calvin sold Griffith stadiumto the city of Washington leading to speculation that he was planning on moving.
With prospective moves one was San Francisco and the other Minn-St Paul in which a deal
    was finally reached in 1960.
1961 for the first time an entire state would be used to identify a new team
as the team from Minn-St Paul would be named the Minnesota Twins.
Scarlett and navy blue would be the team colors. This was a carry over from the
1960 senators uniforms.Home whites were pinstriped with Twins as a slanted script
and a special patch on the left sleeve which portrayed 2 players shaking
hands across the river which was a symbol of the twins cities alligiance.
A navy blue cap displayed interlocking white"T" and red "C".They avoided an "M" for
fear that it would be suggested they were a Minneapolis team only.
The stocking and undershirts were solid blue. This uniform stayed set for the next 10 years
and during the 60's in this uni the twins were contenders with a pennant in 1965 and
a close 2nd in 1967.This time also produced players like Harmon Killebrew
and Tony Oliva.A few changes came thru the following years including the popular 70's
double knits and the twins stayed in the middle of things thru the 70's with
a new hitting phenom by the name of Rod Carew.
In 1987 with the franchise finally a solidfied established statewide team and no longer a fear
to offend St Paul fans the team changed from the "T""C" to "M" and finally
the Twins won thier first championship.

the included files represent the 1917 nationals and the 1956 senators and they are the

  5. '94 Tigers Aways, and the inspiring story of 2kSports color manager Ben Hornbrauer

    It was 1994.

This was the year that Weezer's famous "Navy" album came out:

Nick Nolte and Shaq starred in the classic film "Navy Chips," not to be confused with "Navy Sky" with Tommy Lee Jones, which also came out that year. The Duke Navy Devils, led by senior Grant Hill, made it all the way to the National Championship game and lost, which by Duke logic means the season isn't worth talking about. It was the year that the Toronto Navy Jays dynasty aged, though with young rookies Carlos Delgado and Alex Gonzalez (THAT Alex Gonzalez) promising a bright future. The Law & Order episode "Navy Bamboo" caused a minor international crisis between Japan and the United States.

1994 was also the most embarrassing year ever for the ol' Red, White, and Navy Olympic Figure Skating team when Tonya Harding attacked Nancy Kerrigan in Detroit. Kerrigan, in her trademark navy shirt pictured above, vowed she wouldn't sit around being navy and slowly worked her way back to the ice.

Also injured in that accident was a young Ben Hornbrauer, then wardrobe manager for the Olympic team, whose eyes were struck by the hammer. The incident made it impossible for Hornbrauer to differentiate between different different color shades -- his entire world no longer had any contrast. Even simple things like telling the difference between a navybird and a cardinal were impossible.

Hornbrauer's remarkable road to recovery took 12 years. The battle to regain his color differentiation was a long and painful process. Most doctors said it would be impossible, but finally he found one person, not a doctor per se, more like a "member of the cast of Real World," who put Hornbrauer on a strict regimen involving 9 straight years of doing nothing but bashing his forehead against various hard objects until the colors righted themselves. Now the Director of Color Programming for 2K Sports, when Detroit pitcher Justin Verlander was selected to be cover athlete for MLB 2k12, Hornbrauer achieved his comeback, returning to the very place of the incident and selecting the absolute most perfect pantone Navy for the Detroit Tigers' uniforms. Here's Hornbrauer's work:

As you can see Hornbrauer's navy is DISTINCTLY different from the color "navy" like in shoes and navy cake, and batman's costume.

In his speech at the unveiling of MLB 2k12, Hornbrauer thanked 2K Sports for giving him the opportunity to prove he is once again among able to discern the difference between the Navy of the Navy Jays or the Kansas City Navies, and the totally different shade worn by the New York Yankees or Detroit Tigers. He also mentioned he doesn't know who swapped the white and orange parts of the player name lettering but that clearly some ___hole in his department was going to be fired for it.

In honor of Hornbrauer's remarkable journey, I present to you the uniforms the Detroit Tigers wore in 1994. Unfortunately I couldn't get Ben himself to provide the colors for this, so these unis use a non-Ben-selected shade of Navy.

I put in two versions of this, one for Mod Enabler use so you can try to use it with MLB Today modes or if you don't have Ty Wiggins's editor. This is as much as I can do about Hornbrauer's Navy:

If you do use Ty's editor, it'll look thus:

Although Detroit was and established member of Ban Johnsons "Western League"
during the 1890's,its status as a major league was in jeopardy when the league
went "major" in 1901.Mediocre attendance fueled rumors that the team was going
to Pittsburgh or another credible major league team. The Tigers stayed in Detroit
and wove a long and rich baseball tradition. They have been the "Tigers"as far back
as thier minor league days a name inspired by yellow and black stocking stripes.
Thier first uniform as a major league team in 1901declared their feline identity by
using a red tiger on the front of thier cap.The black stockings alos had a red stripe.
The rest of the uni was standard stuff, fold down collar, button up shirt and the name
"Detroit"in arched block letters. The road was the same style except that maroon
was the trim color instead of black. In 1904 the Tigers uni was significate year in Tiger
uni history as the reverted back to thier old english"D" from 1890 and makes it the
oldest emblem in the major leagues thats still in use today(Unless the Athetics ressurect
their A) also was the first year that Ty Cobb would use his services for the Tigers as thier
    full time center fielder.
After 14 years as manager Hugh Jennings was replaced as manager by hero
Ty Cobb for the 1921 season. The newspapers even named the team the "TYGERS"
in honor of the new leader. He lasted thru 1926 when he resigned to finish out
his great career with the Philadelphia Athletics.
In stride with the trend for more colorful uniforms the Detroit team donned the most
imaginative uniform in team history. In place of the traditional D on the shirt they
displayed a orange and black tiger head and also a large tiger head on the back.
2 Orange stripes were added to the stockings and an orange D on the cap.

The files included are for the 1927 home and away and the 1995 alternate which was only used for 1 or 2 games. The files are the cl1 cl2 and home iff's

When Charley Finley picked up his team the Kansas City Athletics and moved to Oakland in 1968,
KC was without a major league team.Fortunatley the AL wanted expansion and in 1969
a replacement team was awarded and a modern complex was in the works
and the new team would be called the "Royals".Royal blue was chosen as the team color.
The designs were conservative compared to Finley's bizzare gold and green.
The new unis had blue caps, stockings and undershirts.Home whites displayed
"Royals" in script while road greys had Kansas City.In 1973 the Royals went with
the trend and used double knits. They kept the same general appearance except
for the buttonless pullover and more striping and the beltless waistbands.
The new road jersey took more of a drastic change as powder blue replaced
the grey and the word Kansas city was changed to white. This uniform stayed
for the next 10 summers and during this run KC became a solid contender, with
several division titles and a world series appearance in 1980 as new talent arrived
such as George Brett,Hal McRae,Frank White,Amos Otis and Dennis Leonard.

n 1991 2 new teams were to have expansions and one of those teams would be
located in Denver,Colorado. The "Colorado Rockies" would start league play in 1993.
The team name comes from the Rocky Mountains. There were many previous attempts to have a mlb team
in Denver and in 1985 it almost became a possibility as the Pittsburgh Pirates almost
relocated there aftre the drug trials in 85.The rockies joined the league along with
the Florida Marlins. The first game in rockies history was played on April 5th against
the NY Mets and lost 3-0.The first game at home was againts the Montreal Expos
and they won thier first game 11-4.The game was a memorable one as they played
in front of 80,227 fans which to date is the largest crowd to see a single regular season MLB game.
The uniform colors were to be black, purple, silver and white.
The home unis were white with purple pinstripes and the name "Rockies" in silver arched
capital block letters. The undershirts and caps were black. The road greys were solid grey
with purple trim and 2 purple stripes and the sleeve ends. The name "Rockies"was used
until 2000 when they changed the road name to "Colorado".They have had several
alternate unis in which the first one was black with striped pants from 93 to 2000.
They also have a purple jersey with white+ purple striped pants since 2000,the cap
is black with purple bill and the road alt has grey purple striped and all black cap.
Another alt has a striped jersey with black sleeves. All black jersey with white and purple stripe
going around the armpit and going over the shoulder. And another black jersey and stripes
from armpits over the shoulder but with purple sleeves

The file included is for the 1993 alternate and is the home iff file

The first uniforms for the new 1901 Boston Americans were picked out by manager
Jimmy collins.Nothing unusual just white home and grey road. They had regulation
turn down collars with lacing part way down the front. The trousers had built in
padding fro sliding protection. The caps were so called "Chicago" style,a pillbox with
2 stripes around the crown.A feature that may have surprised the uninformed Red Sox
fan is that all trim including the stockings were not red but blue. Both home and road had
"Boston" arched in block capital letters. This was standard in most unis at this time but for
Boston this is especially noteworthy because the form of the "Boston"letters is
virtually identical to todays road unis and represents the oldest surviving major league
uniform. With older pictures its hard to identitify the difference between the Boston Americans
to the Boston Nationals. To resolve this problem the Americans changed thier front
jersey trim to old english"B" and "A".Since most teams nicknames were not official
except for the Philadelphia Athletics,"Americans"was the accepted name used
to distinguish this team from the Boston Nationals.Unofficial names used by newspapers
were Somersets,Pilgrims and Puritans. The old english letters were another common
standard and the only current survivor of this early century fashion is the "D"on the
    Detroit Tigers
1903 was a very important milestone for the American league fro credibility of being
a "Major League" as Boston challenged the mighty Pittsburghs(led by Honus Wagner)
To a best of 9 so called "world championship"and Boston won 5 games to 3.
1908 the Boston Americans officially became known as the "Red Stockings" or "Red Sox"
They followed the "White Sox" to shorten the stockings to sox which most
likely to save space on newspaper accounts for games. The 1908 jerseys were unique
because on the center of the chest was a slanted red stocking symbol with the name "Boston"
in white capital letters. This unusual graphic made no mistake on who the team was
and was the first pictorial reference to a team nickname on a "Jersey".Detroit was the
first to have a graphic which was a "Red Tiger" on thier caps in 1901.

  12. 2012 New York Mets Updated

This is an updated pack for the 2012 New York Mets. You MUST have Ty Wiggin's Editor to properly add these uniforms to the game as they require adding additional uniform slots to the roster file. Included are updated batting practice uniforms (Home & Away), an updated Away uniform (NO BLACK), and extra away Black Alternate, and Home & Away Blue uniforms. Team color file is included with the additional slots added. They replace slots 434, 441, 443, and 444. Be sure to edit this file if you already have those slots in use.

Always back up you files before adding these updates.

The Reds began the 1900 season as the oldest tradition in professional baseball
history, dating back to 1896.Thier uniforms were a continuation of the 1800's,white
at home and dark musty blue on the road.Caps were standard close fitting round style
with a short bill.Red piping was used on the seams leading up to the red top button
and around the base of the crown.A red "C" was also added to the front of the cap
    around 1900.
By 1911 tean nicknames were now being accepted as official by many teams
and team names and logos were appearing on most uniforms. The very first version
of the now famous reds team logo made its appearance in 1911.By the end of the decade the logo
was established as standard and remained basicly unaltered the entire decade of the 20's.
About the only thing that changed in features were the use of pinstriped fabrics
collar shapes and trims. The teams first championship in 1919(even with the black sox scandal)
must have convinced team ownership that they had a winning design.
By 1930 the Reds like many teams were breaking out of repetitive plain unis,
and by 1936 they started adding blue in thier color schemes and would remain for the
    next 20 years.
In 1935 the Reds introduced "night"baseball and the following year they made
a change in unis thats referred to as the "Palm Beach"uniforms. All piping trim
was removed and the "C""reds" emblems was replaced by a "reds"script lettering
on the left breast. They wore this uni only occasionaly in 1936 and 1937 and even
n some night games they wore solid red trousers.
The anti communist hysteria contributed what is in retrospect the most embarrasing
moment for the Cincinnati ballclub, after 80 years as being identified as the reds,
or red stockings(a fact which had no political or international overtones and was
as American as hot dogs and cracker jacks)a comprimising corruption of the team nickname
they were to be called the "REDLEGS" and the team took the most drastic change in
uniforms in 1956 for the first tim ein 20 years.Blue was abandoned as red became
the sole color and the name reds were no longer displayed on the home unis after 45 years.
They also went with a sleevless vest.In 1961 a touch of navy reappeared to signify
    the end of the "Redlegs"era.

the files included are for the 1869,1911,1936,1972 and 1999 unis. The files are the alt1,bph,cl1,cl2 and home iff's

In 1995 a team was formed in St Petersburg Florida and would become the Tampa Bay devil rays.
The club has played in Tropicana Field and had finished in last place 9 of thier first 10 seasons.
Then the Rays first winning season was also thier first devision title and also won the pennant.
Since 2007 the Rays had 4 straight winning seasons and 3 playoff appearances including
2 AL East championships. In Novemeber 2007 the Rays made changes to the franchise's image,
changing the clubs name from Tampa Bay Devil Rays to Tampa Bay Rays. The teams primary colors
were formerly black, green and blue to navy blue, columbia blue and gold and the teams symbol was
changed from a devil ray to a ray of sunlight. The devil ray symbol however is still used on the sleeve
    of thier jerseys.
Finally in 1998 the team finally played thier first game against the Detroit Tigers
but lost 11-6.They would go on to lose 99 games by the end of the season.
The team aquired vets vinny castilla, jose canseco, greg vaughn and fred mcgriff
and was dubbed as the "hit show" but all these players were past thier prime and
    unable to sustain success.

The files included represent the 1997 and 2005 Rays. The 1997 uni is an unused uniform but thought it was unique so I have included it.U will notice stripes on the right sleeve ends but not the left. This is not a mistake but was going to be the style if they had went ahead and used these unis. After decades of losing teams and falling attendance Calvin Griffith had enough
and obtained permission from the league to transfer his team to Minnesota for
the 1961 season. But not all was lost for fans in Washington D.C as they were awarded
and expansion team immediatly the same season. The departed club left the nickname
SENATORS behind for continuity's sake. The new senators team was reluctant to use the red white
and blue as trim colors from the former team. The "W" on the blue caps was now red
with white outline. The name "senators" was displayed on the home pinstripes in an arc and fancy
red capital letters. In 1963 the caps were totally redesigned with a script "W" and red piping
on the crown seams. The slanted script version of Senators was revived from the 1960 uni.
The Senators played thier last game at RFK Stadium in 1971 as the team was to
move to Arlington Texas for the 1972 season.
With double knit uniform fabrics now the norm, the rangers became the first ML team to
to have never used the old flannel fabrics. The nickname "Rangers" was a natural
=derived from a historic tradition unique to the Lone Star State. The lettering style
of the Rangers would appear on both home and road and would be reminiscent of
the old west accented with a shadow effect. The team colors were to be red white and
blue which was allready over used by other clubs but certaintly "all american"
and all "Texan" and was not criticized or rediculed. The unis utilized the new built
in wasteband but stayed with the traditional buttons on the jersey fronts.Blue was the primary
trim color, caps undershirts and socks were solid blue.A white T edged in red was
displayed on both home and road caps.Red white and blue striping was used on the wasteband
and down the trouser legs,on the sleeve ends and collar.

Also the Red Sox and Yankees road greys are much lighter. I plan on doing all the teams; it enhances the realism a lot when the colors are correct.

The Phillies joined the national league in 1883,only 6 years after the league was
formed.Evidence of early philly uniforms are sparse but team photos from the 1890's
show abbreviated city name PHILA on the shirt fronts, some versions (possibly home unis)
either show and old english or standard capital P on others. From 1901 for almost a decade
sketchy evidence suggest that trim colors may have been black, red or maroon.
With the letter P on the front left breast.Caps were the standard pillbox type.
During the Grover Alexander years the 1910 home and road unis took a distinct
change from previous years.Horace Fogel chose green as the trim colors to match
his colors to the rebuilt park. The jerseys were the fold up cadet type collar accented in green,
As were the sleeve ends. The home uni had an old english "P" while the road was a block "P".
Home caps had the round crown with green visor and piping down the seams.Whiler
the road was solid grey.In 1911 a rookie pitcher named Grover Alexander won 28 games
and had the league buzzing. He even helped them win a pennant in 1915 but after
the 1917 season and the Phils woes began. The Phils had plunged in the league cellar by 1919
In 1921 they took a change in uniforms with the most significant change in over a decade
by going with the now popular V neck style uni.Pinstripes were also introduced on
both home and away.By WWll with the image of 2 losing decades it was decided
that the Philadelphia National League club was to rechristened as the "Blue Jays".
For whatever reason the name failed to catch on nor was it ever implemented
into the uniform graphics except for a brief appearance of a blue jay symbol on the
sleeve,in fact the name phillies was still displayed on the unis even though the
new nickname was supposedly official. The post war was a rebirth of hope for the phils,
as a new crop of talent appeared,Del Ennis,Robin Roberts and Curt Simmons.
The rebirth and new uniforms for 1946 were red white and blue and remained
for the next 3 seasons and symbolized the resurgence of the phillies as they were
a legitimate pennant contender.1950 was a memorable year for the phils as they
    captured a pennant after a 35 year draught.These were the fabled"Whiz Kids"
who caught the fancy of baseball fans nation wide.As to anticipate a milestone season
the uniforms were another totally new look.Gone were the traces of blue and red
was now the dominate color.Solid red stockings ,caps and undershirts and plus a daring
red pinstripes on the home whites. This was the new look for the 50's and has been the base
of the look that we see today with minor changes here and there.
1970 was a brand new era for phily, the fans said goodbye to connie mack stadium and entered
the era of artificial turf and pillarless seats. The new unis also had a look of the future
with a new stylized "P",modernized numbers, stripes all the way up the sides,
and a deeper burgundy shade of red for the trim color and kept the pinstripes for the
home uni.The road grey gave way to a more bluish shade(a symptom of the TV age)
Except for a disasterous expirement with an all burgundy edition in 1979,this new
graphics and look was accepted since thier 1970 introduction

On April 8 1969 a dream to have a major league team in San Diego became a reality
when the new Padres defeated the Houston Astros 2-1 in the season opener.Former
Dodgers exec Buzzy Bavasi was the principle architec to the new franchise. In some ways
it was a continuation of trhe PCL Padres, merely elevating the operation to ML status.
The nickname and color scheme of Padre brown and gold were carried over from the
AAA Padre uniforms. The first 3 summers were standard stuff solid brown caps, unsershirts,
and stockings with some gold striping, buttoned shirts and belted trousers. The home unis
were white with Padres arched across the front. The road unis broke from an old tradition
using tan instead of grey or blue grey. With the double knits become tradition in the early
70;s,the Padres overhauled thier unis to use these double knits in 1972.For the balance of
the decade the club istablished some sort of record for the most changes in uniform
designs in consectative year periods. The only consistency was the keeping of the team colors
brown and gold. The first double knits sets in 1972 were madeof a dazzling gold
material with brown lettering.1973Home and road were identical except
for the name Padres vs San Diego.1974 the home jerseys were back to white with
the name padres in dodger style script.Instead of using the alternate cap from 72-73
it was now the main cap which had a triangled front in gold and brown bill and brown back
with interlocking S-D monogram in brown. In 1976 they now went with a softball type look
with brown torso and gold raglan sleeves and the name San Diego in gold capitals.
1978 this type of uni was restyled again with the home team having a white torso,
and the lettering was now horizontal and not arched in both home and away.
1980 to 1984 the Padres went a stretch with out any changes.

In 2004 the Padres started a new tradition that they still do every year. The have 1 game or sometimes at holidays will wear a camo uniform in honor of the men and women who serve in the armed forces.

On May 27 1968 the national sport became international as the National League
awarded the city of Montreal one of the 2 expansion franchises for the 1969 season.
Inspired by the worlds fair the name Expos was chosen as the new team nickname.
They were to play their home games at Jarry Park the home field of the former AAA
International League.Red white and royal blue was chosen as the team colors
keeping with the prevalent French speaking influences,A large stylized M in these 3 colors
was designed as a team emblem and would be on the left breast of the jersey. The
logo was quite unique it actually was an "Meb".The M was the whole Emblem while the
small red area was the "e" and the blue area was the "b" and it stood for Montreal Expos Baseball.
The home uni was regulation white while the road unis would be powder blue.
Undershirts and socks were blue while the caps had a blue bill, white front and red center
and blue in the back.Even in the mid 70's when most teams went with the double knit unis,
the Expos kept the button down style. They remained unchanged until 1981
when they added a blue and red stripe from the sleeve ends up to the neck line and
and down the sides of the jersey and down the sides of the pants.
On September 29 2004 MLB annonced that the Expos would move to Washington DC.
The Expos finished their final game at Shea Stadium against the Mets who was the first opponent
they faced at its start 35 years earlier.

A few teams called Washington DC home. The Senators who were one of the founding mebers of the AL
Played thier from 1901 to 1960 and moved to Minnesota to become the Twins.
A second Washington Senators from 1961-1971 then moved to Arlinton Texas
to become the Rangers.Washington then spent the next 33 years without a team.
Although there was sentiment to revive the name Senators, political considerations
factored into the choice Nationals.Politicians and others in the District Of Columbia
objected to the name Senators because DC does not have voting representation
in congress. In addition the Texas Rangers still had the owning rights to the
Senators name.Coincidently sitting in as president at the time was former owner
of the Rangers George W Bush. There was also more opposition from Peter Angelos
owner of nearby Baltimore Orioles. They had been the only franchise in the Balto Wash Metro area.
He had considered it as a single market. He contended that the O's would suffer
finacially if another team entered the market even though they shared the market from 1954 thru 1971.
This reasoning disturbed many in Washington as they recalled it was the Senators who
allowed the St Louis Browns to move to Balto in 1954.March 31 2005 Angelos and MLB
struck a deal against any finacial harm the Nationals might present.Under the terms
television and radio rights to Nationals games are handled by the O's.Fans
were frustrated because for the first 2 season most in the DC area missed almost the entirety
of the Nats first 2 seasons. The Nationals are the only team who does not own thier own broadcast rights.

These are from the 1981 home and away and the 1995 home and away. The files are the home, away, alt 1 and alt 2
