If you want to change MVP's announcers...

Recommended Posts

I'm taking over this project that hory started over at eamods

http://www.eamods.com/ForumsPro/viewtopic/t=1444.html

eamods thread: http://eamods.com/ForumsPro/viewtopic/t=2588.html

The goal is to be able to change MVP's announcers. To do that we need to know what each individual audio file says. I've already written a program that can change the audio in dataaudiocdspch_pbppbpdat.big , which contains much of the play by play audio. (It's not a normal .big file) This program will not get released until this project is finished.

If you want to help out, this is all you need to do:

1. Find one of the 28 files below that says "Free" next to it and download the zip file. (If it says "Free", you should still check all of the recent posts in this thread, just in case someone else started working on it, and I haven't updated the first post yet) Let me know when you start working on one of them, so I can update the first post, and so others will know not to work on the same one.

2. Extract the zip file to any folder.

3. Open the folder and run convertfiles.bat (.bat file thanks to kraw)

4. This will convert all of the .mus files to .wav files.

5. Open up the .xls file in Microsoft Excel or in Open Office Calc. Download Open Office

6. Listen to each .wav file. In the .xls file, type who said it in the second column, and what they said in the third column.

7. When you're done with all 500 files, or if you decide not to finish, please let me know and send me your complete(or partial, if you're a quitter ;) ) .xls file. You can put it in a zip file and attach it, or email it to me.

Example: 1001.wav -- By listening to this file, I find out that it is Krukow saying: One seventy-nine.

So you would find 01001 in the first column. Then type "Krukow" in the second column, and type "One seventy-nine" or "179" in the third column.

Here are the 28 zip files (each one contains 500 audio files)

I've done the first group of files.

I'm sick of Krukow and Kuiper though.

Who are we going to change the announcers to? Scully? Cohen?

I'm not entirely sure, I suggest you read the thread the HardcoreLegend started if you haven't already. This might shed some light on it for you. I think that it is where this all stemmed from.

Not that it really matters who or what but:

I don't want credit, because I haven't really done anything except compile sound files.

I've taken the MLB 2004 audio files and broken them down into folder lists:

Scully Swing Result

Campbell Pitch Result

Etc.

This should help, once we get the list, putting a file to a file.
