Are you on a laptop with an integrated vid card? That could be the culprit. If not, are you using a desktop and updated your graphics drivers? Sometimes, depending on the card and drivers, newer drivers can actually be less compatible with the game causing stutter or other anomalies.

That's a tough question because it can be determined as a situation is encountered, otherwise you'd never know. For example, if there is a cyberface on someone on a Single A or AA that would cause a crash, but you never use those teams, you may not have to worry about it. The best thing to do is check in here from time to time and see what people are finding.

The MVP edit tool is something you have to play with, but do a search for "MVPedit" and look at some recent threads. As far as the "data 7z" file, I'm assuming that it's a datafile.txt, which does not originally get installed by the game itself. Some guys here figured out that it can be extracted from another file and then modifications can be made within it. But not having it won't affect your game's stability. Look through this and similar threads for solutions as probably every possible situation has been discussed. Good luck.

How did you re-install? Somehow you must have kept the MVP13 mod. Is you desktop shortcut still pointing to the 13 mod and you think it should switch over to the 14 mod? What "05 data file" are you talking about? If it's the "datafile.txt", there isn't one of those native to 2005 original game.

My understanding is Patch 2 is all you need if you don't plan to play online; Patch 3 if you go online.

No not at all. Also, if you are playing on a laptop which has an integrated video card, I'm not sure what to tell you. Good luck.

This will happen if you're running the game in windowed mode and have one monitor. If not, maybe there is a setting in your video card control panel?

Well, don't run away on the rosters. I might be able to set up the MLB initial set for 2015 since it will only require moves and setting up lines and rotations, but I seriously doubt I'm going to do the level of tweaking that I did the last few years. So if that negates me from the project and puts you in helping with rosters, GRS34, then that's perfectly fine.
-
There shouldn't be any reason why you can't install a roster pack. As long as you have the cyberfaces to generally go along with it, you should be fine. Your other choice is to use the roster pack, but change every cyber face assignment to a generic (face nos. 901-915) Vertical sync in your video options must be ON.

I don't know a lot about what works best with W8, but did you try installing to your desktop? Also, did you try installing 2005 from your discs, adding only official patch #3 and just run that? Let us know.

I'm not sure, but this was one of my biggest gripes with NBA 2K12.... no ability for remote matches. It's sad.... we have games 8-10+ years older with the capacity for LAN and IP2IP play WITH modifications and recent games struggle with this. I've also heard that when they were active with lobbies and such, the connection quality often suffered...... possibly a symptom of games with higher end graphics.

It's a microcosm of what we've seen on the 'net since freeware was made available. It seems like the younger generation have been taught a mentality of "get it now" and "get it free". I'm not saying all of them, of course, but the percentage of them I believe is certainly larger in this latest era of on the quick technology. There also seems less appreciation for assistance given. I agree with those who believe/observe that technology is helping depersonalize our culture by and large. However, there certainly still are those in that generation who have the values of appreciation and patience.

Buy the game. Buy a used Saitek controller. End of problems.

I think we've addressed just about everything we can regarding freezing both in this thread and others with "freeze" or "crash" in the title recently.

I think there's something like those Tampa unis in MVP 12 and I would bet the Monarchs unis are in Dennis' Negro Leagues mod as well.

Ya, this seemed to turn into the Kent Murphy thread. Don't find him that engaging. Maybe we need some variety. I'm not a big fan of Ferrell, but the first part of this is pretty good:

For a new face, yes. Because your season is now embedded in a SAV file. But if a player has a certain number, like Matt Cain, if you input (or even make a new) Matt Cain face with that very same number, it will show up in your present season because the on-going season draws its faces and all else from the models.big file. No, there is no way that I know or heard of to alter a SAV file.
-
We talked about this in the other thread. When you download the actual cyberface files they will not be compressed. bigGUI has a way to compress them and then you need to "rebuild" the file. As far as the new faces, you won't see them in the game unless you change the ID for that player in the roster file, as they probably have a generic face number right now. You can do that manually by opening up (with wordpad or notepad) attrib.dat (one of the 19 dat files for the roster) and look at slot #10. It is probably a 900 level number. Change it to the official ID number needed.

Already asked and answered just a few posts up.

This is why I made cpu vs. cpu rosters and also put out suggested sliders.

Right click on file. Rename. On W7 it automatically highlights the file name. Just click in the box behind the file extension and change it. It will prompt you, pick yes or OK. Depending on your unzipping tool and the file it may not work, but won't know til you try. You didn't do an internet search on how to do that?
-
Just change the 7z extension to "zip" or "rar".

I know it's MVP 14. Re-read what I wrote. Trying to determine if it's your PC or the mod.
